Breakfast around the world
The prisoner defiantly stares down Heinrich Himmler, Hitler’s right-hand-man, who was responsible for the Holocaust. Greasley’s confrontation with Himmler took place during an inspection of the camp he was confined to. The inmates were ordered to remain seated, but Greasley refused. Horace Greasley also escaped the death camp, but sneaked back in to rescue a German woman whom he had fallen in love with.
this is amazing
Wait it gets better, he escaped from the camp 200 times to meet with the woman he was in love with and returned after every time because there was no other place to go to. He also wrote an autobiography omfg this dude is seriously awesome

The Curse of “Litte Bastard”
On September 30th, 1955, James Dean was driving his Porsche Spyder when it crashed (head on) with another car. Dean was pinned inside, neck broken. His friend in the passenger seat was thrown from the car and survived. So did the man Dean crashed into.
This is where the urban legend of this curse begins. George Barris (a car designer) bought the Porsche to use it for parts. When it was delivered to his yard, it rolled of the truck and broke a mechanic’s legs.
Next, a doctor named, Troy McHenry bought the engine of the Porsche to replace his own. He died in a car crash the first time he took it out for a drive.
The fatalities and injuries continue. Another doctor bought some parts and was seriously injured in a car wreck. Someone bought two of the tires and got into a wreck when both of them blew out at the same time. The shell of the Dean car was being transported to a road safety exhibition in Salinas when the truck skidded and crashed. The driver was killed. This urban legend, whether true or not, is an interesting one.

thru Dec 21: KAWS Mary Boone Gallery, 541 W24th St., NYC sculpture and new paintings by Brooklyn-based artist KAWS.
opens Nov 5: “AREA” curated by Jeffrey Deitch with Serge Becker, Eric Goode, Jennifer Goode and Glenn O’Brien The Hole Gallery, 312 Bowery, NYC “The nightclub that captivated New York’s Downtown art scene returns after 30 years… The fabled nightclub opened its doors in September 1983 and virtually overnight it became the nexus of the downtown scene in New York City. It was the place where people went to see and be seen. It was the brainchild of four young guys from California—Eric Goode, Shawn Hausman, Christopher Goode and Darius Azari. Their vision was to create an art project on a monumental scale. Every five or six weeks they gutted the enormous space at 157 Hudson Street and transformed it into a spectacularly realized theme: Suburbia, Natural History, Gnarly, Art and Fashion, to name a few. Opening at The Hole on November 5th, AREA 1983-1987 presents the art and concepts that made the club, including works created for AREA by Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Francesco Clemente, Chuck Close, Keith Haring, Jenny Holzer, Barbra Kruger, Sol LeWitt, Leroy Neiman, Larry Rivers, Maripol, Kenny Scharf, Julian Schnabel, Survival Research Labs and many more, alongside rare ephemera and new works inspired by the club from artists including Tom Sachs, Steve Powers and Todd James, Misaki Kawai and Ben Jones. Dozens of photographs, many never before exhibited, document the New York of the 80’s at its most exotic.”
