characters are narrative devices that reveal the writersâ worldview and values.
being critical of how a beloved character is written does not equate to bashing said character. it is bashing the writersâ skills and morals.
scandalous hot take time spuffy is actually not even toxic and the only reason people think this is because they're measuring the toxicity with normal human relationships standards. which. you know. you shouldn't. probably
Spike is both so much cooler than Angel and way more of a loser
Angel vs. Spike
Okay, so I've been thinking about it and I think your preference kind of boils down to two things, one being more important:
What romantic story trope you are drawn to: Star Crossed Lovers or Enemies to Lovers
MORE importantly: As a viewer what pulls you in: the actors performance and charisma or the story the writers are telling (regardless of how said story is executed by the performers)
I would argue that the Spike/Buffy storyline is also FAR more compelling than the the Angel/Buffy storyline, but I do have space for people who just kind of don't care about the actors performance and prefer a star crossed lovers arc. As a professional actor I think part of what draws me to Spike is James Masters talent. His abilities as an actor are just so damn sexy. David is... trying, but makes me cringe I'm sorry.
I love what you are, what you do. How you try.
Why does Buffy The Vampire Slayer feel so poetic, ahythmic and connected like this all the time? I mean sometime the plot seems totally random and quirky but it always stayed loyal to buffy's inner world. This kind of integrity in screenwriting is so rare. This isn't fair. I want to write like this.

being weird and full of love can save you
and it might save those around you, too
"well everyone has trauma" correct and yet
you fail to recognize not everyone has trauma that impacts their ability to perform activities of daily living - even right down to basic things like eating. and not everyone has trauma dominate their entire life, with no escape: not even escape from within their own mind.
we can recognize that we live in a society that has doled out trauma to most people without punching down on the most vulnerable by telling them they should be able to do x, y, z (ex: work, make friends, get sober, have hobbies, cook, etc) "like everyone else."
you are not the standard. no one is the standard. we are all unique people in our own right and society has failed us all. we gain nothing by shaming anyone.
Iâm about to save you thousands of dollars in therapy by teaching you what I learned paying thousands of dollars for therapy:
It may sound woo woo but itâs an important skill capitalism and hyper individualism have robbed us of as human beings.
Learn to process your emotions. It will improve your mental health and quality of life. Emotions serve a biological purpose, they arenât just things that happen for no reason.
1. Pause and notice youâre having a big feeling or reaching for a distraction to maybe avoid a feeling. Notice what triggered the feeling or need for a distraction without judgement. Just note that itâs there. Donât label it as good or bad.
2. Find it in your body. Where do you feel it? Your chest? Your head? Your stomach? Does it feel like a weight everywhere? Does it feel like youâre vibrating? Does it feel like youâre numb all over?
3. Name the feeling. Look up an emotion chart if you need to. Find the feeling that resonates the most with what youâre feeling. Is it disappointment? Heartbreak? Anxiety? Anger? Humiliation?
4. Validate the feeling. Sometimes feelings misfire or are disproportionately big, but theyâre still valid. You donât have to justify what youâre feeling, itâs just valid. Tell yourself âyeah it makes sense that you feel that right now.â Or something as simple as âI hear you.â For example: If I get really big feelings of humiliation when I lose at a game of chess, the feeling may not be necessary, but it is valid and makes sense if I grew up with parents who berated me every time I did something wrong. So I could say âYeah I understand why we are feeling that way given how we were treated growing up. Thatâs valid.â
5. Do something with your body thatâs not a mental distraction from the feeling. Something where you can still think. Go on a walk. Do something with your hands like art or crochet or baking. Journal. Clean a room. Figure out what works best for you.
6. Repeat, it takes practice but is a skill you can learn :)
The day I realized that wanting to be saved is in fact a trauma response and that no matter how old I get, Iâll be a small child waiting for someone to save me
Sometimes processing trauma looks like making mini comics about dogs.
Here you can donate to the families in Gaza. We have collected $3,912 / $20,000. đđ
The voice of truth for every Palestinian đ”đž
An Israeli soldier is seen firing randomly toward civilian homes and displacement tents in Gaza, describing the act as âfor entertainment.â
At a time when civilians are being killed daily by stray bullets coming from the eastern areas of the Strip, violence is treated as a game wituhout accountability, and without humanity.
This is not an âisolated incident.â
This is not a âmistake.â
It reflects a reality where civilians are dehumanized and treated as targets.
Documenting these acts is a duty.
Silence is complicity.
After the ceasefire !!
Airstrikes targeting displacement tents in Gaza despite claims of a ceasefire and narratives that the war has âended.â
For civilians on the ground, there is no post-war reality. There is no safety. Only changing methods of the same violence.
A ceasefire on paper does not stop bombs in the sky.
And declarations of peace mean nothing when tents are still being bombed.
Donations for GAZA!!
This donation campaign is for ANAS family. Not for strangers, not for a cause I'm distant from but for the people who raised me, the people I love, the people I'm terrified of losing.
They are in Gaza, trying to survive something no human being should ever have to endure. Constant bombardment, displacement, hunger, fear, and the feeling that tomorrow is never guaranteed. Every day is about staying alive one more night.
If you choose to help, you are not donating to an abstract crisis. You are helping real people with names, memories, and lives that matter to me more than anything.
â-This is a verified Chuffed campaign to support family:
