Green Tourmaline sat across the campsite from Pink, his confidante & partner in battle. They had been outskirting this new city for a few days now, unable to find a safe way in without attracting any unknown Gems. As a rule, they sent their âunsafeâ nights camping out with a warm fire. âThis is nice...away from the General...right?â Green asked Pink in a test of sorts. Heâd always known that Pink preferred stability while he personally fought for his own personal freedom...but he knew that Pink had stayed with him for a reason. He sighed & turned around, ready to fall asleep.
Pink gritted his teeth. Heâd wanted to agree, to reassure Green, but...there was too much uncertainty. About his own future. Time was running out for the two of them, & he wasnât certain if he liked it that way or wanted it to stop. A sound from the cityâs limits caught his attention, & he summoned his musket to stop to intruder. âHALT!â At the same Time, he signaled to Green, & the ninja gem instantly flew towards him until a much taller gem, wielding a blunderbuss, stood before the unknown intruder. âState your name.â Watermelon Tourmaline demanded.

Watermelon Tourmaline staggered across the Kindergarden, his leg still hemorrhaging. He had to find shelter, & fast. Heâd just encountered his old tormentor, Red Tourmaline, who had tried to unfuse him back into Green & Pink. He was weak now, but lucky to have survived the attack. Red would be following quickly, he knew. If a few missed shots had torn the human clothing off Melon, revealing his Homeworld garments underneath, who was to say what a proper attack would do?
But no, he couldnât worry about that, not now. He had to seek refuge. His body couldnât take much more abuse, but his soul still believed in redemption, the kindness of others. He hoped, even with his Homeworld uniform exposed, that someone would take pity on his wounded body.

Perhaps it was just bad luck, that the kindergarten he happened to run to was the one Smoky Quartz was investigating. Even with his bleeding legs, and hobbled steps, it would not take him long to cross paths with the giantess. Caramel colored armor glittered in what little sunlight filtered into the place, and a set of four eyes, all set in a rather aggressive look focused upon him.
âWho are you.â She didnât say it like a question, it was a demand, and she stepped forward to properly block his path, arms crossing over her armored chest. Her eyes roamed his figure, till she came across the signs of a homeworld uniform. Her features darkened as she waited for his response.
Watermelon clasped his hands over his chest, the bands around his arms tightening like a torture device. He had no choice but to keep his diamond unconcealed. âIâmâŚterribly sorry to bother you, f-friendâŚb-but I am looking for some refuge, as there is a horrible Gem chasing me & trying to destroy my freedom. IâŚI just want another chance at a peaceful life.â
His brow knitted together & he looked up pleadingly to Smoky Quartz. he was normally quite terrified of the larger gems, but he hoped his luck may turn around.
She seemed almost as if she was considering his words, head tilted, tapping lightly upon her hip. It seemed like she was considering it, until she swung. Her movements where swift, and in a flash of light a Scythe would form within her hands. She swung towards Watermelonâs head, hissing out âYou are homeworld. You do not get a second chance for your crimes.â
"What?! N...no! You misunderstand!" He tripped & fell on his face. "I cannot remove this uniform! I'm peaceful! P...please believe me!" He crawled along the ground with trembling hands.
