It started with a pencil.
Nothing too dramatic, you left your only writing utensil at home and had no spares. With a deep sigh and a reluctance to raise your hand and ask your teacher for a new one, you saw movement in your peripheral vision.
A dull mid length used number two pencil was hovering out to you. Bakugo held it still as he waited for you to take it, not acknowledging your whispered 'thanks' before you continued to study.
It was a snowball effect after that.
Him saving spots at the lunch table for you, his bag just so happened to be moved off the unoccupied seat next to him when you showed up looking lost when there was no where left to sit.
No one noticed his ears turning red at the smile that graced your features once you spotted the now empty seat next to him. Your face full of joy as you chatted and ate.
During forced group study sessions he never yelled at you, no matter how clueless you were at the subject. Just grumbling and a louder tone that a normal person would use as he reexplained the same words over again.
A cocky smirk settling onto his face once you finally got it, "Well duh, you have the best tutor!" He'd gloat when you proudly showed him the sparkling 'A' on top of your paper.
He didn't march or stomp as harshly when walking with you, keeping pace when the two of you walked side by side. His hands nonchalantly in his pockets as he held both of your bags, no matter how many times you argued.
Only giving up because he held your bag high above his head and out of your reach, his teeth showing as he gave a victorious smirk.
You didn't believe it when your friends told you he acted different with you, kinder more carefree and laid back.
You always smiled and shook your head, blowing off their words. Bakugo being nice, psh never in a million years. He didn't give special privileges especially to someone he deemed an 'extra.'
But then again, you couldn't pin point the last time he called you that, or anytime really. Only when you were with others and grouped together did he use it as a whole.
"You damn extras!" He'd yell out, stomping away as he side eyed you. Looking away with a soft "tsk" and ignoring the offended grumbles from everyone else.
During a free study period, you walked up to Bakugo's desk, hands fiddling with your fingers as he stopped his writing to look up at you. A soft "what do you want," left his lips as he put down his pen to give you his undivided attention.
"Why are you so nice to me." You asked, tilting your head. "Hah?!" He yelled out, looking at you like you just insulted his blood line.
With a brief explanation and some memory flashbacks, he scoffed "Your questioning why I don't berate you and act like your the gum on the bottom of my shoe?" He laughed, eyes twinkling as if you were telling an inside joke.
"Don't play dumb, you and me both know why we act like this" He mumbled, playfully rolling his eyes. After a small pause and awkward silence, he dropped his laugh.
"You know why..." He trailed off, looking into your confused eyes. "I treat you like a decent human being because..." He waited for you to magically finish his sentence. But after another paused breath and a magical cricket in the distance, he looking at you baffled.
"I act like this with you because I like you dumbass." He spit out, rolling his eyes as if this was obvious.
He watched your eyes widen as you yelled out shocked, "You like me!?" Drawing unwanted attention from lingering students. "Well no shit, we've been flirting with each other for the past month." He revealed. "What did you think all my comments and actions meant when we hung out."
Bakugo huffed in disbelief as you shrugged your shoulders glancing away guilty.
"Did you think I was just doing all that for no good reason?" He asked, his toned raised.
"I mean, you never specifically stated you liked me..." You started, "I wasn't going to assume, what if you just saw me as a close friend." You shrugged again, twiddling your thumbs.
Bakugo narrowed his eyes at you, offered by your words. "When have I ever treated any of my friends like I treat you."
"I don't know, you and Deku seem pretty close." You mumbled, slamming the nail in the coffin for him as he rubbing his hands down his face and sighed.
"Okay dumbass, next time I'll give you a clear warning that I'm flirting with you." He breathed out, mumbling under his breathe how stupid and oblivious you were, something about how he can't believe he likes an airhead.
