so in this fic, the strattland kiddos are called Ana Stella and Leo Nikolaus (Nikolaus for her father but the Copernicus coincidence was very satisfying).

Ana was A Surprise in year 2, and caused an awful lot of uproar, but the "try not to keep the baby and both parents on the bomb boat at the same time" related game of sleep deprived, acting-world-dictator-stability threatening pass the parcel did inspire everyone to separate out the astronaut teams, as they should have done in the first place.

Leo was planned for and involved arranging fertility treatments during their would-be house arrest, leadership maneuvering stand-off period in American embassy housing in Hong Kong. That was alternately a power trip and moderately humiliating. But it was certainly a fruitful way to use the time of interregnum-captivity. (two onlys decided they didn't want just one. However the saga of Leo cemented them as public spectacle, they could probably have faded into the background otherwise...)
