Girl Meets Girl: 5 Romances we LOVE

There’s no shortage of love in YA lit. We love a meet-cute, a swoon-worthy romance, and a beautiful love story between all people. 

Today we’re celebrating romance between girls in YA! 

Rukhsana & Ariana from The Love & Lies of Rukhsana Ali

There’s no will-they/won’t-they drama in this book: Rukhsana and Ariana are together and in love from page 1! We’re rooting for them the entire book as Rukhsana struggles with her conservative Muslim parents discovering them together. 

Katie & Simone from Unbecoming

Katie and Simone’s relationship is certainly fraught with tension, and doesn’t exactly start in a good place…but their relationship grows and changes as Katie comes to terms with her sexual identity amidst this book filled with family drama. 

Rae & Jupe from Odd One Out

This is a love triangle between three friends, so we can’t exactly reveal the ending…but we LOVE the relationship between new-girl-in-town Rae and Jupe (AKA Jupiter). Trust us, you’ll be flipping the pages so fast to find out how this one ends. 

Leah & [SPOILERS] from Leah on the Off Beat 

Just like about everyone on earth, we’re obsessed with Love Simon, the movie based on Simon vs. the Homosapien’s Agenda. And we’re even more obsessed with Leah, who gets her own book focused on her bisexuality in Leah on the Offbeat. We don’t want to be too spoiler-y about the girl Leah is in love with, but their relationship is #GOALS, trust us. 

Mabel & Marin from We Are Okay

This book is a heavy one, but the relationship between Mabel and Marin is so realistic, we couldn’t stop reading it. Their relationship moving between friends to something-more, plus their longing and loneliness, is so reminiscent of real-life relationships.
