still one of the funnier messages ive sent about scart i think. im SO right tho. like !! in my first run, i was gonna let reese eat dr kelly but . tabby showed up. and suddenly her getting locked up was the better outcome of the two i was presented with. it made me feel so bad .... visiting her in e5 is so . god . its Awful she doesnt deserve that !!!! i didnt want that !!! but i did do it . also i think im similar enough to reese that id give dr kelly conflicted feelings lol. chattering more under cut

i rlly like this message also. likeee . oughhh . when i first played e5 i was like, tabby wouldnt do that to me!!!! she wouldnt lock me up in a place like this!!! and bc i have the mystical trait, i could give her a chance to explain herself. to clear things up between us. i even open up to her about Why im so scared that im gonna be locked up again. but it goes WRONG 💕and she uses it against me 💕💕 and calls the cops on me 💕💕YAYYY💕💕💕 i love being tortured.

this would really cement wayne being the only person i can rely on for me. reese (my only other friend) is locked up, tabby just called the cops on me ... wayne was right!!! hes the only one that cares about my safety!!! my general demeanor prevents me from forming connections fast so id probs be, like. acquaintances with everyone else. it doesnt help that i spent all my time with tabby also....

this is kinda making it sound like waynes some Big Bad thats manipulating me . and like maybe kinda but i do think hes honest in everything that he says? he just says it Weird. im sure hes already basically spoiled the Big Plot Twist that will come in the last two episodes but he said it in such a weird way that nobody even noticed. anyway what i meant to say in this paragraph is that waynes my FRIEND and ive been choosing to be his friend ever since day 1. like ive said before a big part of why i love wayne sm is that, like. it doesnt matter who i am - how depressed, disabled, or just generally weird and not fun to be around i am. i get so quiet when im around other people. everyone says to "think before you speak", but theres no time to think. you have to respond right away. its not socially acceptable to need a minute or two to consider whether smth youre about to say is socially acceptable, or even relevant to the conversation. that draws me to wayne !! that he wouldnt gaf !!! yk ???

theres nothing i can do that would make him give up on me - besides knowingly romancing sybil or taking the faustian bargain, maybe, but im not gonna do that cus i trust him 💕oh our bond is gonna be SO strengthened by me using the mystical trait...

a lot of other things draw me to wayne, like. he acts sooo . sure of himself. he says that he doesnt care if you have other relationships. which you can see is a lie . especially with stella. he cares SO much. he does believe himself when he says that he doesnt care tho i think. hes so unfamiliar with human-like emotions .. ofc he wouldnt see it for what it is. thats another part of why i like him! his inhumanity!!! it bleeds through everything he says and does. even the nice things, like him wearing the veil as to not scare you. its also Really Cute!!! hes CUTE!!!! but thats for another post

back to the torment nexus: wayne being locked up. i dont remember what enochs exact words are in e5 but he say smth like "i didnt think itd be so opinianated" in regards to waynes cell, im assuming. the general conditions DO remind me of the psych ward i was at tbh. i didnt have a shit bucket but it was still rlly bad. id go Wayne I completely get why ur so angry about this, back when I was locked up, they told me that i "dont deserve treatment" because I stood up for myself. They told me "we'll let u out when u get better" but refused to help me so i had no idea if id be there weeks or months. It was TORTURE being isolated from the people that actually cared about my wellbeing. I understand you. and hed go Omgggg youre just like me fr !!!! he probs wouldnt see it as the Exact Same Thing cus i was hardly there for a whole century (?) but hed be like . So you understand why we can't let this come to pass. and id go yeahhh but i rlly wanna talk to tabby about this . shes my Buddy she wouldnt do this to me . and then i go talk to her and i get locked up again!!!!!!!!! i think the entity seemingly wanting the mc's consent for bodysharing is very interesting but i don't think that's required for it to possess people. it seems pretty clear to me that andrew charles and alexandra, at least, did not meaningfully consent to being hosts (given their young age plus the book smart insights which suggest alexandra was manipulated into doing the ritual in hopes it would make her mother love her). so i don't think sam wayne's body is rejecting the entity because of ritual consent reasons; the "it can only stably possess scarlets" theory is possible (we'll have to see if that proves true for isaacs!entity), or there could be other ritual steps involved in "doing it right" (the goat?).

but no, i think the entity's "i don't want you to feel boxed in 👉👈" "i'm yours If You'll Have Me..." thing is psychological rather than magical. we know it absorbs traits from its hosts, and imprisonment seems to have heavily shaped its personality. i honestly think 1) it just wants a willing host (even from a purely selfish angle, it probably gets tiring to share a body with someone who hates you), and 2) it has enough emotional intelligence to know that humans enjoy feeling like they have choices. but uh. not much more than that. basically your eldritch stalker with a crush is putting on a big show going "mc look! look i'm respecting your agency! humans love that! :)"

I want to talk about the scrapped ep4 ending

under the cut because of spoilers and character death tldr: the thing i wanted wasn't even an option so i'm glad this got cut

So, killing Reese with the axe. I have some thoughts. Mainly that it takes away Tabitha's moment being fully ready to kill a person, her actions causing his death if MC doesn't stop her. I don't want MC to take that away and be shown to be just as ready for murder as Tabitha. that moment could fit a lot better later.

Then the possibility to kill Joan. I have a similar problem, this time it's Reese's actions that get taken away. Him killing her is a big thing for him in the story. I don't MC to take that away either.

Both choices are too much for MC's psyche and the only route I can see for them is that they get shot by Tabitha on Friday because violence is the answer to them at that point. It's just an early ending with extra steps and is not that good in the end.

And then there's one that didn't even look like to be an option, which was keeping attacking Wayne with the axe. The game says that MC's pride got wounded which I find weird because I didn't go swing the axe at him because of pride. My own stubbornness needs a better reason than that.

okay I had to check how the fight scene goes with both Wayne and Reese.

question: Why does MC attack one of them in the first place? I doubt it's just so that they can use the axe for something. The choices literally were help either Wayne or Reese so the reason is siding with one of them.

When attacking Wayne, MC gets nothing done, he just pushed me away and I'm supposed to feel defeated? When attacking Reese I see the game is written for this moment better, more intentional. He gets hurt but heals himself back, the axe won't kill him or hurt him fast enough, I'm guessing MC is either on Wayne's or Joan's side on this so it's easy to leave when Wayne says so and go to the safe room. Attacking Reese feels good as is to me, the muscles and the axe aren't enough to cause damage, I'm biased as a Reese fan, I know, but it's still done better than with Wayne, it would be nice to have a better reason to stop fighting him than "because you just do that". the game literally forces me to give up. Maybe see the tendrils if MC doesn't have keen eye? or Maybe Reese tells MC to go somewhere else and that Wayne is dangerous after failing to hurt him?

Maybe the axe can be used to threaten Joan in the safe room and do the same to Reese after matricide? These can then affect negatively on their relationship with MC.

MC killing a person fits better to ep5 or 6. on Monday they can shoot Gretchen and on Friday they can kill the pumpkin baby. Killing someone on ep4 feels too early. They can be on Tabitha's side but she was the one who shot Reese and set him on fire. MC's moment should be later.

I feel like freed Reese is going to get hurt in later episodes, especially if he hasn't got shot before. He can handle a lot but getting two ways to die in the same episode while no one else has that is too much.

The devs made the right choice to not include this. Their decisions have made sense before so I was right to trust that.

I've been thinking about this and even talked a bit on the server, but I do think the extra ending could have worked... if it focused on attacking Wayne instead of Reese.

Okay so, neither Wayne nor Reese are particularly affected by mundane physical violence, so I get attacking Wayne instead of Reese, at least at first glance, may look like we're exchanging six for half a dozen. However! One thing you can notice about Wayne is that it's not really that hard to take advantage of his constant overconfidence. In Episode 2, if you have Powerful Build + Street Smart, for example, you are not able to defeat him physically, but you are able to outwit him by pulling his veil off, making him back off immediately; in Episode 3, he claims the Resonant's powers are all "smoke and mirrors", and yet said smoke and mirrors still manage to get him lost until the very end of almost every act of Charlie's "play"; in Episode 4, he mocks Reese for trying to stop him and is immediately glued in place by his Smears, and shortly after that he gets clawed by Reese himself, which clearly affected him more than he lets out. Wayne, at least until this point in the story, is more bark than bite, and is easily knocked off his high horse by things he doesn't take seriously... like, say, a Powerful Build MC bent on antagonizing him.

So how would this "new" ending work? Well, fuck that "wounded pride" comment; make MC take the axe to Wayne repeatedly, doesn't matter if it doesn't land the hit, just swing that shit at him - until Reese takes advantage of Wayne being distracted by MC and throws him out of the window. Simple as that. What happens after that? Well, regardless of the logic behind these actions (maybe you want to help Reese, maybe you really hate Wayne; maybe both), Reese interprets it as MC siding with him and proceeds to leave them there so he can kill Doc, which MC does not witness.

Now, I know this sounds like Obedience route with extra steps, and it kinda is, but I still think it can work in an interest way. Like, you know how Reese gets more forceful and domineering towards MC if you go Matricide/Obedience? This ending could actually mitigate this behavior and make him respect MC more, seeing them like an actual partner in crime and not someone fragile that should be protected at the cost of their agency, while still maintaining the unhinged mindset Reese gets in these routes.

This also could considerably change MC's disposition towards Wayne. After witnessing him being "defeated", it would open a chance for MC to tease and mock Wayne for his loss. I don't know how Wayne himself would react to this, but considering he usually treats an aggressive MC like a child throwing a tantrum, maybe it wouldn't affect him much. Maybe. But part of his mysticism is certainly gone, and Powerful Build, high on hubris, could often advise MC to ignore whatever Wayne says because he's a loser and losers don't get to tell you what to do, right? Besides that, it plays on the thematic of Wayne being an insidious danger because he isolates MC from other people, but now they see he can be dealt with if they have The Power of Friendship(™) by their side (... or they can just ignore all that and think they can totally can deal with Wayne alone now, and proceed to get their ass handled to them. The name is Powerful Build, not Powerful Mind 🤷🏻‍♀️).

But yeah, these are my thoughts. I just think it's more interesting than "yet another option to ruin Reese's life", you know?
