Sky has already worked a shift today, keeping people coming and going with wristbands into the events. After her shift ends and she finds Diego and Wes, she can enjoy her time rather than deal with kids trying to sneak in for a drink or drama between the acts. Swinging her son as high as she can, she smiles, loving to hear the laugh from her son and see the smile on his face. She can't help but laugh too. Looking over at Wes with a smile, she shrugs. "I'm going to miss it, my shoulders won't but I will. I hate that he's getting so big. I miss my little tiny baby," she whines. "He's going to get tall and he's not going to want to hang out with mom and dad anymore? What the Hell do we do then, Wes?" It's a fair bit off but she still thinks about it. She still thinks about what Wes and she will be when Diego is old enough to understand the reasons his parents aren't together.

"He's never gonna be as small as he is now. Like as young as he is now, that's the youngest he's ever gonna be." It may seem obvious, but still, it made him hate how fast time was going by. "He's gonna wanna hang out with me, I'll tell you that. I'm the cool dad. And you're a MILF so his friends will wanna hang around with you." He teased, looking down at him. "Thank you for, y'know, bringing him into our lives and all that."

"You're colourblind?" Brenna repeats, a brow raising at Wes. Even despite that, she knows Wes is the last person that she should be asking for fashion advice. She's lucky if he shows up to anything in a clean shirt and jeans that dirt stained. She scowls a little, pursing her lips and looking between the red dress on the hanger and the black one she's wearing now. As much as she hates to admit it, he's right. The black one is nicer — the red one's maybe a little slutty but she keeps that to herself. "Where does Diego get his fashion sense? It can't be you."

"I kinda figured that that was obvious." Wes wasn't the most stylish type around, he had no idea when shit matched due to the fact that he didn't know anything about styling himself nor was he able to see the difference between green and red. "Probably Sky. Does she have a good fashion sense, though? I dunno, I think, I have a better one than her." He teased, "My cowboy hats are nice."

The din of the crowd was starting to make his skin crawl. He'd follow Juliet around (and he knew she'd probably let him) but he would get in the way. At the very least be a distraction and he didn't want that. Just like anytime he's ever been uncomfortable, he sought someway to avoid it which at the moment meant a cigarette off to the side. He took one out and popped in his mouth then patted around for his lighter. "Fuck," he remembered giving it to someone to use and not getting it back. That's what he gets for being nice. "Hey cowboy, you got a light?" He asked the guy in closest proximity to him.

Wes was in his element, having a grand ole time smelling all the good food, trying some new beer, and being with Diego. However, he figured that if he was going to smoke, he should probably stand off a little to the side. "I should, could've lost it by now though," He had a habit of misplacing things even in the span of a few minutes. It was in his pocket, though. "If I'm cowboy, does that mean you're tattoo boy?" He chuckled, as he offered him the lighter.

It wasn't that she was necessarily bias against any bbq that didn't come from Texas, except that's exactly what she was and she never pretended hide it. Standing there now, in front of everything, she just looked, and while a carnivore not running to the taste test as the cooks continued to perfect the subtitles until it was time for judging. 'I just--" hesitation in her thick southern drawl, "I have been in this damn city forever at this point, and I have yet to have good bbq." She sighed, "and whats the over and under that any of this is good?" The brunette frowned, "smells good though, probably a 50/50, yeah?"

Wes was going to be meeting up with Sky and Diego and the fair, though that didn't stop him from taking a sneak peek at the food that he'd be able to look forward to after the judging. "Don't knock it until you try it, you know what they say about assuming," He insinuated, "I think if they're willin' to be judged, they gotta be good." He wouldn't put himself out there if he knew he was terrible, and he was terrible. "I'm looking forward to the pulled pork, it smells good."

He liked doing things as a family, especially because he knew that Diego loved it. It was times like these where he forgot about any of the tension between the two of them, though he really never picked up the tension as much as he should've. He liked being a good dad, he wished that he could be a good dad all the time. Diego was in between the two of them, holding the both of their hands, occasionally wanting them to life him up as he jumped, and now ready for some corn on the cob. Maybe he really was a true country boy. "You know soon enough he's gonna be as tall as you, and we won't be able to have lift him like this."

Shrugging a little bit Hayes motioned to the seat beside him. “The offer still stands, dude. I’d love to help, just name the time and place. Here sit.” Grabbing his fresh drink he held it up toward Wes’. “To a good performance.” They clinked glasses and the blonde took a swig before waving a hand around them at Wes’ comment. “Got a few friends performing and working behind the bar. Finished work a little early, figured it would be fun. How’ve you been, dude?”

"I'll let you know. Gotta find a time I'm not workin' and not hanging with the kid. And when you got time in your schedule too." Hopefully their schedules would line up. He did a cheers with the younger man before giving him a nod. "Some of these people could use someone supportive like you, man, at least the ones that are barely singin' into the mic and about to shit their pants." He always appreciated Hayes' support, "I'm good. Heard you were a back-up babysitter for Diego. Is that now a permanent back up position you got?"

Brenna is sure this wasn't what Wes had been expecting when he came over but unfortunately for him, he'd come in the middle of one of Brenna's many moments of mayhem. She pauses rummaging through her closet at the sound of someone in the other room, stopping just long enough to confirm that it's Wes out there. "Remind me to fire my assistant," she calls out from the depths of the walk-in. "She forgot to put something on the schedule for tomorrow night. Thank fucking God she remembered to tell me today. Twenty-four hours before I have to be there." A dramatic sigh rolls off her tongue, stomping out barefoot into the living room with one hanger in her hand. "Black or red? I don't have time to go buy something new. I have to do some serious schmoozing." She stops in her tracks, brows furrowing because really, Wes is the last person she should be asking this. "Pretend your expertise goes further than ripped flannel and stained jeans for a minute."

Wes looked behind him, wondering who the hell she was talking to. It couldn't be him. He figured that Brenna would know better at this point than to ask him shit. "You know I'm colorblind, right? Like red looks like orange to me." At least that's what he's been told. "Fire your assistant." He reminded her, before looking again at the dresses. "Go with that one." He told her, pointing towards the black one. "No one can go wrong with black. It's everyone's color. At least that's what Diego has told me."

"I heard if you do more squats you get more of an ass, food for thought." Lottie chuckled and took another drink from her glass. She couldn't remember the last time she'd sat down long enough to related. The woman seemed to always be on the move until she couldn't move anymore. "We definitely got a good turnout. A lot of people like these guys though," she nodded to the stage that had a decent crowd hovering around it. "All you got to do is sign up for open mic night or fill out the form on the website for any other night. I like new and old talent alike." That's the heart beat of the city and Lottie wouldn't have it any other way.

They sound good." He could admit to hearing a good act when there was one. "I already started drinking. I don't like mixing singing and drinking, causes some bad shit in the throat." He had no idea if there was any truth to that, but he figured that he shouldn't change it up now. He already probably damages his voice enough by smoking a pack a day. "You sing?"

Hayes loved open mic nights. The music circles he traveled in were small enough that he knew a lot of the performers, and if he was lucky he found some new artists that he enjoyed enough to look up on social media. And since he fixed the current bartender’s truck the other day, his beers are half off - under the table. Plus, he wrapped up work early today, so he had nothing else to do. So he sat on his corner barstool, watching the performers cross the stage. He didn’t realize Wes was on the set list until the older man was already approaching the microphone. Sitting up straighter, the blonde set his beer aside to listen. Wes was good. Really good. Which made Hayes wonder why he hasn’t been in a booth yet. And why they haven’t talked about it before. The two men have hung out a few times before, he was surprised it was never brought up. As Wes’ song ended and he stepped off the stage, Hayes held a ringed hand up in a wave. “Hey man. Y’sounded great tonight.”

Wes had motioned to the bartender for a drink now that he was done with his set, happy to be able to get some alcohol in his system. He spotted Hayes on his way over, stopping as the younger man spoke to him. "Thanks, man. You could probably help me sound better," He was getting down to business, "At least recording wise. Every single time I try to mix my songs, they don't even sound different." Better was what he was looking for. He wanted to hear an improvement after he recorded his shit, considering it was all on his own computer. It definitely sounded homemade. "I didn't realize you were here tonight."

She grabs him a bottle, sliding it across the bar. "That way you have more money to tip with," Sky smirks, crinkling her nose at him. "He's going through a phase so anything less than Oscar-worthy isn't cutting it anymore," she sighs, tapping her nails against the bar. She'd taken the time to get them done this week, her brothers had harped on her long enough that she wasn't getting any younger and she needed to enjoy herself. Motherhood was something that she enjoyed but her life definitely didn't look like what it used to be-- neither did Sky and Wes together.

"Really?" she asks, chewing on her bottom lip. It wasn't like Wes didn't help out, it just was that sometimes it still felt like he was never going to help in all the ways that he should. Sky grew up a lot when she found out she was pregnant but Wes didn't quite make the same strides. Somedays she finds herself hoping that one day he'll wake up and be the man she knows he could be, but it only leads to him saying shit like this. "Oh, yeah you know me, Wes. I love to go out and get whatever dick I can find," she huffs, rolling her eyes. Wes knew her better than anyone, which is probably why what he says hurts more than someone else saying it. As much as she wants Wes to spend as much time with Diego as he wants-- and probably more than that-- now she feels like she has something to prove. Leaning in, Sky admits what should've already been obvious.

"In case you were wondering, you're the only person I fuck around with. Bet we can't say the same for you." Sky looks over at the other bartender, letting her know she's taking her break-- now annoyed with Wes' insinuation. She washes her hands before popping out from behind the bar, sure to give Wes a look full of daggers as she does.

"It's weird givin' you tips. Not that you don't deserve 'em but you're you, you know? I mean that in the best way." Sometimes stupid shit came out of his mouth, or things that he couldn't explain without sounding dumb. But it was like giving his girlfriend-not-girlfriend a tip. "He's been havin' me play cowboys with him and I gotta be all dramatic about getting hurt or else he makes me do it again." He chuckled, happy to oblige with Diego's demands.

"Yeah, calendar's all cleared for him." And that way, she got a break. She was the only person he wanted to fuck around with. But he couldn't admit that. He couldn't hurt her again, nah, he wouldn't allow himself to do that to her again. She deserved better. Sometimes he also wondered if Diego deserved better. "That's good to know," He didn't want to show that he was happy to find out it was only him, "I was just...wondering, is all. I'm only fuckin' around with you too." He admitted, and this time, it was actually true. "But really, I want you to have some free time. Be a thirty year old and all that for the night. I'd get like black out drunk or something if I were you."

She admitted as stepped closer to him so he could thread his hands together and lift her. "Tell me you're going commando because that might make my whole day." Now she stepped back with a teasing smirk as she looked him over. "I'm kidding. I can give you my shirt if you're worried about me looking at you but I promise not even to glimpse down at your boxers or briefs."

"I always wanna go commando and free ball it but apparently it's frowned upon?" If it were up to him, he'd wear like no clothes. They felt so...constricting for him. "I'm a boxer briefs type of guy." He admitted as he got his hands ready for her. "So you gonna tell me why we're actually doing this or?"

Being at a bar wasn't the best place to be for someone like Ben. But that's where people his age went. They drank, they laughed, they talked, and they did so without a hitch. Everything about that simple tradition earns a kind of burning rage to ignite inside of him. Why couldn't he have been like the rest? Hell, he just wanted to be normal, to have a drink with a friend without that looming sense of doom rising to the surface. Because when it came to having a good time, Ben was always the one who got carried away. Now he's relearning how to be a normal adult one day at a time, it seems.

Despite everything, he still tries to meet up with Wes when he can. Wes being a frequent drinking buddy of his back before he got sober. His probation officer explained early in the month that Ben was allowed a drink with friends occasionally though it's "not advised". His AA sponsor says otherwise, stating that the California sober approach to recovery doesn't always work.

Ben keeps that in mind as he heads into the bar, waving a hand over toward Wes. "Hey, man, sorry I'm late." The bartender pads to him, asking what he'll have. "Um, just a soda for now, please." He replies, taking a seat beside Wes before turning to him entirely. "You're not having too much fun without me, are you?"

"I honestly was also late, so wasn't waitin' around for long." And even then, he just scrolled through his phone while he waited or talked to someone getting a drink. He knew that Ben was sober, but it really took everything in him to not ask him for anything else.

"Well you know, was just sayin' that to that dude over on the other side of the bar, how much fun I was having without you and all that. He seemed super interested in the conversation." Wes teased, "I was telling him that I was even hoping that you wouldn't show up." He chuckled, before taking a sip of his beer. "Why were you late, though? Everything okay?"

"Bottled or draft-- bottles are on special," she asks, popping out a hip. Sky lets her brown eyes linger on Wes for a few moments longer than what would be considered appropriate for a bartender and customer relationship. Of course, they were so much more than that. They'd been together for four years and now it's been four more since they split. Like it or not, Sky and Wes' lives were forever intertwined, and even if Diego wasn't in the picture (and thank God he was), Sky's certain that there would be no change in the ebb and flow and their relationship. Unfortunately, their relationship was certainly no fairytale and there wasn't a happily ever after. Not that Sky doesn't hope for it sometimes.

But on nights when he's up singing his songs and there are women standing by the stage waiting for him, Sky's reminded of why everything turned out the way it did. Half the time she's surprised Diego doesn't have a half-sibling or a few by now. She's certainly not going to ask him to stop singing-- it was half of the reason she'd paid attention to him in the first place. So instead, she'd listen, just from afar. "He was good. He has something he made you. But act surprised, like I didn't tell you," she offers, a smile cracking her face. If Wes was her weakness, Diego was her saving grace. "He's with my parents. Abel was going to watch him but he's got a new girlfriend so that went down the drain," she says as she serves him his beer. "Hayes was my back-up to my back-up." Always in control, that's just who Sky was.

"Surprise me." When it came to beer, he never really had a preference, it all went down the same hatch. He wasted way too much money on alcohol, money that could've been used for other things like their son.

"I'm a good actor, don't worry. I'm gonna act so surprised, you'll be givin' me an Oscar afterwards." He always looked forward to whatever Diego made him, or gave him. The fact that his kid even thought about him was enough to make him sometimes tear up. "Good, I bet he was havin' fun." Though now, he was probably knocked at the moment and Wes hoped he was having the best dreams. "Since Hayes is on deck, I'm surprised you don't also have someone in the hole." He never worried about Diego's well-being with her or if he was being taken care of. "I can take him tomorrow night, have him sleepover, give you a break." He promised, though sometimes, he fell back on his promises. "Or let you be able to take home any suitor without a kid bein' there."

There was a break between sets and the bar was fully staffed. Technically Lottie didn't need to be there anymore, so she made her way around the bar and took up an empty stool. She made a slight humph of a sound when the sting from being on her feet for ten hours made itself known. "Never really know how long you've been on your feet until you sit down, huh?" She said aloud and folded the straw over her tequila highball to take a drink. Damn that tasted good. A cold drink always tasted better after a hard day's work. At least she thought so and Mami always said the same. "How's your night going? You been here long?" Lottie finally turned to the person next to her, splitting her gaze between them and the stage.

Wes sorta wished he was up there, the music making him tap his leg along to it. "Guess so. Though I gotta admit, it also hurts when you're sittin' for too long. My ass gets numb so I gotta find the perfect balance." He admitted as he took a sip of his whiskey, "It's goin'. You guys seem busy tonight," Though he wasn't surprised, "Sorta makes me wish I was playin' tonight."

It was nearing around 10 pm when Ezra was closing up shop - the tattoo parlor had closed a few hours back but the man usually stayed later to work on his drawings and get himself set up for future appointments. It brought him peace which made him a workaholic most times then not. Anything to keep him busy. However -that peace was disturbed when a drunken tourist asked if he could make an exception- wanting a tattoo that said 'Welcome to the Gun Show' on one of the other's biceps. Ezra almost grumbled but told him to come back tomorrow when they were open. Thankfully - and unbeknownst to the drunk tomorrow was Ezra's off day. Luckily he took that as a solid excuse and stumbled away. "How cliche can one be? Well, that and it just screams douche bag. If only he would get that tatted." Now that the fool was gone he could grumble out his thoughts which seemed to be relieving in a sense.

Wes was getting ready to head into one of the numerous bars, it was 10 pm after all, which meant that night was young when he was witnessing this stupid tourist acting all...stupid. "Well you know, what they say," He actually had no clue, but he was hoping the other man did. "I guess you gotta live life to the fullest while in Nashville?" Even drunk, he wasn't that stupid. Or at least he had better tattoo ideas than that. "Can you even tattoo someone who's drunk?" Was it against ethical violations or something?
