Ooooo! I got a new car! It's a GOBLIN!!!
Today I would like to be 30 years younger.. today I feel very old.. I am tired and aches and not a little fed up with life, BUT would handle life the same way or better as a 25 yr old version of me?
Hell's bells, I couldn't handle life as a 40 yr old me!! Maybe the aches and exhaustion are the price I have to pay for the skills, knowledge, wisdom and talents I have developed in my life.
1. I have clearly developed some skill in budgeting... having never had any talent at all with money, we now have bills paid, goals planned , MONEY IN OUR SAVINGS, a new car and a comfortable buffer each week.
2. I have only really developed any sense of myself as an artist over the last 5 years. Before that I "fiddled" with crafts...I still do that but now I am an artist!
3. I have raised my son to adulthood...and I while I miss the little boy, I would never want to do those teen years again.. and he is mostly a very nice companion now.
4. I am more tolerant, patient and accepting than I have ever been and it really does improve my life.
So may be the aces and the tiredness should be worn as a badge of honor and achievment.
OMG!!! What will the next 15 years bring!!!
YOU GUYS LOOKY
IT'S A SNAIL WITH A SHELL COZY!!!
Happy St Patrick's day all my Goblin Fam.....haven't blogged much over the last 2 weeks... I have been in quarantine. You would think that would be the perfect time to blog... but my mind was lacking focus a bit... I am back now... well and healthy. I did not get sick. More traumatic coming out actually... but I will leave that story to ASD-girl to tell that story.
I like the way that Maori appears to have a fully indigenous word for “flat white”.
No doubt some legendary Polynesian tale told of a mythical drink of morning strength (but not a big one, always small) with the smooth aerated foam of a fountain pool, and they travelled thousands of miles across the Pacific carrying this legend knowing that one day they would find and savour this true elixir. And that day finally came when some coffee shop in Wellington in 1989 inaugurated the flat white and the “mōwai” was finally discovered by the Maori and the legend was completed.
I have this little kete (bag) in the 2020 Whanganui art review. This is the 2nd year I have entered. Last year I entered with this...
We had the awards tonight and I won a merit. My baby (I'm nearly 18, I'm not a baby) was there to see me get it.... what a moment! Good for me as an artist but also good for Maori Art.
🍂Apple Walnut Cake - Mabon🍂
Hello, my greenies! I have a cake that I love to bake for Mabon. It is my grandmothers recipe, but I’ve added some of my witchy goodness and my own touches in it too. I’m so excited for this and have gotten a new dress for this holiday too! I hope you all have a great time and if you make this, don’t hesitate to tell me!
Ingredients
2 cups of flour
½ cup of buttermilk
1 cup of brown sugar
½ cup of sugar
½ stick of butter, softened
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
around 1 tbsp on cinnamon (2 ½ tbsps = 1 tbsp)
2 medium apples (peeled & diced) - NOT minced or shredded!
½ cup of chopped walnuts
Crisco
Directions
Preheat the oven for 350°F
Mix flour and baking soda in a separate bowl.
Mix milk, brown sugar, eggs, butter, and half the cinnamon together.
Then, sift the dry ingredients into the wet ones, put in vanilla, and mix in both the apples and walnuts.
Cover a 9 inch pan in crisco and put mix into it.
In a separate bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon. Blanket the top with the cinnamon sugar mix.
Bake for about 40-45 minutes.
After I place it in the oven, I say a little chant and prayer.
“Oh earth and wind and water, I am but your body. Heal and protect me from harm. Give my family, my friends, and myself your gifts and your strength.”
I also play my Mabon playlist (lol) while I bake and do some ritual dancing. It’s a really fun time and once the cake is done, I usually pair it with a cider. It might smell good, but definitely let it cool, at least slightly.
If you are planning to serve at a party, I think it would be cute to make a little flower out of apple slices and place in the middle. This is just my thoughts though!
I really hope you all like it and have a happy Mabon!
- Kenzie
*sometimes I decide to roast the walnuts for about 1 minute in a pan before I mix them in, this is just a little extra thing I do if I have time/want to do that*
I have just found out that fatigue is another thing that is ASD effects (affects?)
Now it makes sense... soooooo much makes sense.. I have had one of those weeks with lots of visits and lots of errands and lots of concentration and lots of... everything. My ability to cope and think is greatly impaired... I haven't really had much time to withdraw...I should have done that today...but I didn't because I had a lot of paperwork... I didn't do that either.... I played minecraft instead...
So my Saturday will be spent doing my paperwork instead of going to the Medieval Faire with my family (darn it ;) , normally I would enjoy this but I think I have had enough this week.)
I LOVE PENS!!!!
I love my pigment liners... I have a lot of different sizes. I mostly use them for outlining an zen doodling.
I have 3 pilot pop'lol... green, pink, and purple. The colors are the reason I bought them , but the are so lovely to write with... I like writing in different colors...same with the uniball pens...I got these to colour code my notes in my diary.
Frixion pens are amazing... you can erase them quite cleanly with the silicone nob on the end.
Sharpies are just always fun... for lots of reasons....the one in the photo is my thin sharpie.i use it mostly for writing on files for work. But it comes in handy for art too.
I always have a couple of standard biros/ball points.
But at the moment, my favourite of pens are my fountain pens. How can anyone not LOVE fountain pens. I feel like it's grown up writing! And oh the colors! I am collecting a new colour ink every week... writing with fountain pens is not boring.
And I haven't even touched on all the other sort of pens... gel pens, roller ball pens, brush pens, calligraphy pens, pens pens pens pens!
I had to re blog this off my other tumblr because.... pens are an inspiration as much as an obsession... I really love pens

Adventurecore Bag Guide!
So with more and more people coming up into the adventurecore community, I figured I'd endulge in a little guide I always follow when I pack my bag for all occasions. This is quite a long post so be warned!
Remember, you can always swap these items out for things you specifically need.
You want to make sure your bag has several pockets (At least 2!) to maximise space and make sure you don't get things lost! You wanna know exactly where that thing you need is, in a perfect situation. My bag is a messenger bag so it has six pockets!
(Two at the front, three inside, one at the back)
In my front pockets I always have:
-Gum and snacks! You never know when you need to kill the hunger pangs.
-A little Swiss army knife. Always always always make sure to check your country/states/cities law on these types of things and what you are allowed and not. Leave the knife at home if you aren't sure.
-A pencil case sometimes although I do keep loose pens, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, paint brushes in these pockets. Even if you're not an artist, they're good for marking maps or boards.
Inside my pockets on the inside I have:
-A firelighter. This can be anything from matches to a lighter to a genuine firelighter. The one I have is a magnesium flint stone firelighter. It's rather good and it's always great to get to work on making a quick fire fast!
-A compass. It's always good to know your way around an area and from when you know the north, you can try to navigate your way. I might do a separate post on how to read from a map and compass in the future.
-Tape and Glue! These are brilliant if you're a scrapbooker and you find the perfect leaf or bark to place in your notebook. If you're on the more adventurous side, these are great for bushcraft and sticking-things-together activities in your day to day life.
Now in the main part of the bag I have:
-A Water Bottle. We all need water, and as much as we all don't like to admit it, we need to drink a lot of it. If you get yourself a cool water bottle, you'll feel more inclined to drink! So I always stash my favourite water bottle or swap it out for a thermos in the cooler days.
-A torch. Sometimes the worse happens. Sometimes your phone dies and you're left trapped in a dark area. Or maybe you have it on hand closer than your phone. I have a large industrial torch I carry with me when I know I'm going on trips but when I'm only out and around town, I have a small keychain torch stuffed in my bag pocket.
-A notebook and a notebook cozy! I knitted my own cozy but if you don't have the skill, store bought is fine. Nobody has to see this but you, which is great for writing down important information (like a quest book!) and scribbling notes or doodling when you're bored. You can have as many journals as you like and have different themes for them (Plant book, Bushcraft tutorial book, journal, diary) or, like me, have just one that you heft about everywhere.
-A waterproof or parka that can fit inside a small bag. I picked this up at the dollar store and I'm so glad that I did since it's been helpful on so many situations. It's small enough to fit inside many pockets or fit inside small spaces.
-A carrier bag. And for once, a plastic carrier bag inside another one is okay! This will probably fill up the rest of the space in your bag (it did for me) and I mostly use this to pick up trash when there's no trash can nearby. I absolutely hate throwing things on the floor and always hound my friends to put it in the bag until we can find a trash can. It's also useful for when you spontaneously need to buy things and you don't feel bad about buying another plastic bag. Part of adventurecore, it feels for me, is protecting the areas we have adventures in.
And finally: The back pocket, where I keep my,
-Phone and my solar powerbank. This is vital as I keep a lot of my bushcraft information here before I transfer it into the notebook. The solar powerbank was quite expensive but I find it worth it as I don't have to find an outlet in the middle of the woods to charge it. Money well spent, I'd say.
-My wallet. Like I said before, spontaneous purchases may be made if you forgot to pack a drink or your endless supply of snacks ran out. I have an emergency £10 that I never spend that I have trapped in the back of my wallet. If I ever need to get a cab home or I'm in a place where I need money, I use the £10 to get to it.
-I also sometimes keep some rope in my back pocket. I also have a paracord bracelet which I love and you can make your own out of any rope, even stinging nettle! Paracord is extremely strong and can be used for a lot of things like lean to building and pulling rafts together.
And that's all that's in my adventurecore bag! I hope you enjoyed this and thank you for reading. Go adventure, explorers!
May I add ?
- make a first aid kit ! It can be as simple as some kind of antiseptic wound spray, bandaid, tweezers and bug spray but feel free to add more if you can !
- in case you plan to start a campfire and if there is enough space left carry a metallic dog bowl in which you’ll have previously cut a big square shape and drilled little holes to make your fires in. Most places forbid campfires and they can be dangerous in certain areas. Fires in bowls are way easier to control, smaller and leave no traces ! Big fan of small fires.
-have a glass jar with you to collect things !! Rocks, plants, bugs, anything !You can even put a candle inside so that the wind can’t blow the flame. It can also help when the weather is very cold and you need to warm your hands.
Bringing it back !
I feel like a little boat on a wave filled sea. All tossed about and out of control - not out of control really but not able to control the things that are happening around me.
I always start getting depressed when I feel that things are going out of control and gaining control of something always helps me gain balance again.
I have been working on “acceptance” this year. I am trying to accept what I can not change, accept the this going on around me, not being positive or negative, just accept. Being mindful. ACCEPT
As well as watching a video about autistic females, my Husband made me a valentines day minecraft map and we all played minecraft most of the day..... I mended a sock, made a bracelet and started a Zen doodle... so really achieved very little. Good day.
Just some of the jewellery I have been making... the ❤ shaped walnut shells wash up on the beach near my house. The bracelets are just pretty little bits of woven bling...my intention is to sell them at the market... along with all the other bitees I have found in the shed and have been creating... all in the name of the saving game!!
Absolutely fascinating video.... I have known I am on the spectrum for some time, undiagnosed like my Husband but it became very clear when our son was diagnosed 6 years ago.
So we all watched it today and they laughed as the similarities between me and what this woman was saying became clear.
I have gained some insights today.

I love notebooks... writing books, drawing books, thought books.... just books. I have bought books for my husband and he never uses them.... I said the other day "you don't like notebooks do you?" ..." no I love notebooks, they are just always too special to put anything in them"
Sigh... ok... I get it.. so for valentines day I made him a notebook with his favourite of my paintings on the front... with the words "this is not a special notebook"... just perfect. I love him...I have been loving him for 20 years.
