Are y done with scandal rewatch? It comes back in a week's time just reminding of your promise to answer this question "Hi S, I was wondering if we are going to get this analysis "Hmm…now I feel like there’s a s4 finale/s6 finale meta post percolating in my brain somewhere now but that’s a post for another day."

I am done with my scandal rewatch, but I’m not going to do that analysis. I said that I might find the words upon finishing the rewatch and that did not happen. At least not in the form of an actual articulate post. I can, however, give you the minutiae of what I thought was going to be a bigger post once I got my thoughts together.

Initially, I was going to focus on s4/s6 finales because they feature Olake partnering to overtake Command and/or take control of B613. However, thanks to the rewatch, I’m more intrigued by how Olivia’s Big DecisionsTM about her agency and the next step in her journey by the end of the season are made with Jake’s advice, assistance, or company. It’s been this way since the end of s3 when she took him with her to the island. The end of s4 saw Olivia taking what she is owed because Jake pushed her to see that she could. S5 ended with Olivia saving Jake because he asked her to and then enfolding him into her plan to take back her White House. The conclusion of s6 sees Olivia with her White House firmly in hand and still she chooses Jake to help her reinstate B613.

There’s something intriguing about Jake’s presence in all of these finale decisions. To me, it showcases Olivia’s reliance on their partnership. Regardless of how people interpret their relationship, I don’t think it can be denied that Jake’s opinion, advice, and companionship are important factors in some of Olivia’s big life decisions. I also don’t think that it can be denied that Jake weighing in, supporting, and/or being a part of her journey by the end of the past four seasons is important. I’m not sure what it means in the grand scheme of Olivia’s overall narrative, but I do think it’s significant.
