It's run by Morg, a white 24 yr old disabled queer living on the traditional lands of the Snohomish Tribe and the confederation of Tulalip Tribes and their families. Wasps of the World

A project dedicated to spread love, and educate the general public about the wonderful world of wasps.

I made the decision to make a blog about my wasps! What's slightly different about this endeavour, is that I have added an accompanying caption/blurb with info pertaining to each wasp, which isn't available anywhere else. The point is to try and educate the general public about these fascinating animals by making my art and the info more accessible online. I would like to reach as many people as I can. If I can change public perception to a more positive light regarding these insects, I have accomplished my goal. These amazing wasps exist, and hardly anyone knows about them! I'm here to change that. As always, if there are any mistakes, feel free to correct me! I want to make sure that everything is as scientifically accurate as possible! I have only just created this blog yesterday, so it still needs work, and I have a lot of catching up to do, but this a fun new project for me to work on. I can also add new species as I continue to draw new wasps. I could only fit 48 species on my poster, but I can always do a part 2, so that will be inspiration to keep drawing.

Green sea turtle no longer Endangered

These gentle, 400-pound giants are splashing back from the brink of extinction.

I don’t know about anyone else but these sorts of headlines frequently make me highly suspicious so I did some follow up research after reading the article. I am happy to say that Green Sea Turtles no longer being counted as endangered is not due to the IUCN or any government shifting the goalpost for what can be considered an endangered species. The only update is, as the article states, an update in surveyed population numbers. Notably the article itself states that the current Green Sea Turtle numbers are not currently at what they historically were when the species was thriving, but this change in status over a relatively short period should absolutely be considered a significant win for conservation efforts and indicates a larger more grounded hope in our ocean ecosystems ability to heal.

Fighting for a better world is worth it and it is not too late.

BLM has published a plan to maximize logging in Oregon forests, including old growth forests, without due regard to wildlife (including endangered species) and waterways. They're claiming it will help prevent forest fires, though that seems to be contrary to current science, including that published by the forest service (you can find a list of sources here). This is in response to Trump's executive orders 14223, Addressing the Threat to National Security From Imports of Timber, Lumber, and Their Derivative Products and 14225, Immediate Expansion of American Timber Production.

We have 30 days to submit comments if we want to prevent this. This article has suggestions for what you can say, and how:
