Its so strange to spend all your teenage years thinking you’re the ugliest creature in the world. An absolute swamp goblin, if you will.
But then you stumble upon old teen photos when you’re 20 only to realise that you were never ugly? You just looked like a child. Your vision of yourself was just being manipulated by hormones, insecurity and unrealistic beauty standards.

People instantly categorizing each nation to a single real-life counterpart has been sort of my pet peeve for a while. Each nation was influenced by multiple real-life cultures as stated by creators and artists and this is very evident in the show.
This is my attempt at making a simplified visual representation. Of course, reality is much more intricate and detailed, but this is the best I could do without having to write paragraphs after paragraphs or listing thousands of pictures.

“Love and fury can coexist” is one of the rawest fucking statements regarding human rights activism that I’ve ever heard
My advice to people, but especially kids, who are invested in celebrities, be they actors, musicians, bloggers, youtubers, authors, whatever, is to keep your distance. No matter how happy their content makes you, no matter how strong the pull of a special interest/hyperfixation/obsession might be, it’s important to step back every so often.
Do you find yourself following them on all forms of social media? Do you follow their friends and family, who might not even make content themselves? Do you research their lives? Step back. Just because they are famous doesn’t mean it’s okay to engage in stalking behavior.
Do you find yourself getting anxious if you miss a video, or they upload off schedule? Step back. I know they can help you through dark times but you can’t rely on them all the time.
Would you be devastated if they turned out to be a not-so-nice person? Step back. You can only trust them as much as you trust any stranger. Don’t see yourself up to be shattered if they fall off that pedestal you put them on.
No matter how much somebody interacts with their audience, the relationship is still parasocial. Just keep that in mind. Don’t put all your trust in a stranger. It’s okay to enjoy these people and their content, but keep your distance and step back.

In Jewish tradition, one of our holidays is called Purim. It celebrates the defeat of an antisemitic political advisor to a king who liked to prowl the streets ranting his hatred. Part of the story of Purim involves the people being ranted at inventing a special kind of noisemaker to drown him out. Basically what I’m saying is this student is following a grand tradition whether they realize it or not and they should be proud.
not only is Purim about drowning out fascists, it’s about doing so in the most absurd and embarrassing ways possible! fascism thrives on an aura of invincibility, and it’s hard to hold onto that when people keep making farting sounds every time you open your mouth

I agree with you totally that people shouldn’t mock other religions. The way these people are doing this is anti-Semitic. This is not how a person that’s against organized religion should act. A person that true anti- religion is just against the corruption within some religions and they want to end it. It’s being against bigots and so on that try to masquerade hate as religion. People are free to believe in whatever god they want,or none at all, but they shouldn’t be assholes about it. I just want to point one thing out though. Being anti-religion isn’t the same as being anti-Semitic, saying so is false equivalency. After all,there are people that have left Judaism to become atheists out there. Or how about we talk about how atheists are still put to death in many middle eastern countries or how anti-blasphemy laws have persecuted atheists in Israel? Hell, there’s still laws on the books in the US in some states that prevent Atheists from donating to charities, starting charities as well and keeping them from holding office. Someone can also lose custody of their kids if they’re atheist, it’s happened too much. In fact one study showed that Christians view rapists in a better light than they do atheists. Realize though that atheists have every right to act the way they do because of how they’ve been treated in the past, to say otherwise is to gaslight them. All organized religions historically have a track record of doing heinous shit,but the Abrahamic religions are the worst offenders. When Atheists say anti-religion they mean no organized religion because when it becomes organized it all too often becomes corrupt. If you want people that are true anti- religion,not those knot heads above,start calling out the guilty parties within your religion. Want a prime example,look at Christianity. Christians all to often think their religion is the supreme religion,that puritanical behavior is toxic.
