10. What have other people said about your asexuality?

Not much. I’ve had surprisingly few comments at all and really no negative ones that I can recall.

I know this isn’t the case for most people though, so if you want to vent this is a safe space. Feel free to message us and we will anonymously post your stories.

9. What does being asexual mean to you?

To me, being asexual means infrequently or never experiencing sexual attraction.

This was the toughest part of explaining to my friends that I was asexual. Thankfully all of my friends have been super accepting and they haven't asked any mean or overly invasive questions (in my opinion).

However, the first question I usually get is "so you don't every want a boyfriend/girlfriend/significant other?"

This is a tricky thing, because I do want a significant other (not sure exactly what my romantic orientation is) at some point. I just don't want to have sex with people...

8. Do you believe there should be asexual pride? What do you imagine it being like?

I definitely think there should be asexual pride!

I imagine it being a way for asexuals to express their acceptance of themselves. There is no shame in being asexual; you are not broken. So be proud of who you are!

7. Who’s your favorite Doctor? (Or, do you have a favorite asexual character?)

My favorite asexual character right now is probably Mary Poppins. Check out this post about it:

But overall, my favorite canonically acknowledged asexual character is Tarma from the Vows and Honor series by Mercedes Lackey. She is the main character alongside her friend Kethry. I love the relationship between the two and how they are platonic life partners while Kethry still has various romantic and sexual relationships.
