happy may 18th!
the legality of parodies is so funny. if you take a bit from someones work without their permission its illegal UNLESS you make fun of them
Schools: don’t teach those skills anymore
Stuff: is made to not be repairable
Tools & Materials: are priced as a luxury
Working Hours: have expanded to take up a lot of people’s whole day and weekends
Wages: have stagnated so that everyone has to work full time
“News” media: Your dad is better at DIY than you, ya dick!
lets not forget:
Your parents: have never actually taught you any of those things either
In this age it literally does not matter if you do not know how to fix things off the top of your head. Just google it. I guarantee someone on reddit has asked the same exact question. Usually there’s a YouTube tutorial as well. Our parents’ generation prizes knowing more. Our generation is better at finding information as needed.
I had a cousin basically build an entire car from watching YouTube videos, so I think our generation will be just fine.
American Girl stories were the best tbh
Dude, read the books, she and her mom freed themselves in Book 1. We don’t disrespect American Girl in this house
Don’t you dare disrespect Addy, or any of my girls for that matter. American Girl used to be legit. Good stories, good dolls, good movies.
Felicity’s story was set in the beginnings of the American Revolution, and addressed the conflict that she faced when her loved ones were split between patriots and loyalists. It also covered the effects of animal abuse, and forgiving those who are unforgivable.
Samantha’s stories centered around the growth of industrial America, women’s suffrage, child abuse, and corruption in places of power. Also, it emphasises how dramatically adoption into a caring family can turn a life around.
Kit’s story is one of my favorites. Her family is hit hard by the Great Depression, and they begin taking in boarders and raise chickens to help make ends meet. Her books include themes of poverty, police brutality, homelessness, prejudice, and the importance of unity in difficult times.
Molly’s father, a doctor, is drafted during the Second World War. Throughout her story, friends of hers suffer the loss of their husbands, sons, and brothers overseas. Her mother leaves the traditional housewife position and works full-time to help with the war effort. They also take in an English refugee child, who learns to open up after a life of traumatic experience.
American Girl stories have always featured the very harsh realities of America through the years. But they’re always presented honestly, yet in ways that kids can understand. They just go to show that you don’t have to live in a perfect time to be a real American girl.
Dont you fucking dare disrespect the American Girls in my house. ESPECIALLY Addy!! That was my first REAL contact with the horrors of slavery, as I read about her father being whipped and sold and her mother escaping with her to freedom, but also how freedom was still a struggle.
A slave doll. Please. Read the books.
Don’t forget Kirsten, the Swedish immigrant who had to deal with balancing her own culture and learning the english language and customs of her classmates, or Kaya (full name Kaya'aton'my, or She Who Arranges Rocks) , the brave but careless girl from the Nez Perce tribe, or Josefina, the Mexican girl learning to be a healer.
And then there are the later dolls, that kids younger than me would have grown up with (I was just outgrowing American as these came out), like Rebecca, the Jewish girl who dreams of becoming an actress in the budding film industry, or Julie, who fights against her school’s gender policy surrounding sports in the 70s, or Nanea, the Hawaiian girl whose father worked at Pearl Harbor.
These books, these characters, are fantastic pictures into life for girls in America throughout the years, they pull no punches with the horrors that these girls had to face in their different time periods, and in many cases I learned more history from these series than social studies at school. And that’s without even mentioning the “girl of the year” series where characters are created in the modern world to help girls deal with issues like friend problems, moving, or bullying. We do NOT disrespect American Girl in this house.

IMPORTANT HEADS UP FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS!
There is a company called “Vector” that sends out “work opportunity” letters in the mail for graduating seniors. It’s a scam. They promise a nice $17 an hour for zero experience which should be a red flag. It’s a multi level marketing scheme that preys on kids trying to make money for college and it’s gross. If you get one of these letters in the mail, just toss it in the recycle. Some of you may have heard of this or have already received one of these in the mail, but I just wanted to post about it just in case!
they did this shit to me too but they had no information about the company anywhere on the flyers and the website for applying was just a google form which should have been a red flag but basically they wait until you fill out the google form and then reveal that they are Vector Marketing. their scheme is they make you buy like $100+ worth of knives and tell you to sell them all to your family members in exchange for a cut of the profit. i ignored them once i found out but they started like sending flyers to my mom somehow
here’s a list of similar multilevel marketing scams! notable ones are itworks, amway, lularoe, herbalife, scentsy, younique, monat, beachbody, mary kay, and more. you might even see some of your peers advertising for them on facebook or instagram, but always remember to google the companies’ income disclosure statements. you’ll quickly find a solid 95% or so make no money from these schemes at all, and about 90% actually lose money. be careful y’all!
I got caught up in this right after hs

hi, i’m moira rose, and if you love fruit wine as MUCH as i do, then you’ll appreciate the craftsmanship and quality of a local vintner who brings the musk melon goodness to his oak chardonnay, and the daaaazzling peach cralllbapple to his riesling rioja. come taste the difference good fruit can make in your wine. you’ll remember the experience… and you’ll remember the name: herb irvling. ger. bert hurngeif. irv herm, linger. bing liveheiger. liveling. bert herkert
what ever happened to personality!!! i want decorative towels that arent boring!!! i want NOVELTY!! i want people to come over to my house and look at my trinkets and immediately think this lady is a wacko and also her stuff is haunted

u know when u watch a movie and afterward you’re like “god the score was so fucken good who composed it” and the answer is hans zimmer every time
he is just That Bitch
this is the first thing i’ve ever seen that made me not want to be an only child skcjakjfaj
remember, mothman was never described as a moth or even insectoid, and certainly nothing like the (disgraceful, lore unfriendly) statue it has. remember that mothman is a large, shambling humanoid with no discernable head and gigantic eyes that likes to chase cars, cause radio interference, look at you through windows, induce nausea, and menace young couples. remember that its presence foretells disaster. remember that it ate someones dog. if you cant respect the real chaotic neutral thing then just go home………………….
the only thing accurate about the statue is the ass
yeah that parts real
I had a dream last night that they made a new Bond movie, but they didn’t say who was playing Bond. Throughout the movie you have no idea which character is really Bond, because he’s undercover, duh. And every single character, no matter how minor, was played by somebody famous, so they could all conceivably be Bond. And at the end it turns out Bond was Leslie Jones.
10/10, greatest spy movie of all time
TAKE MY MONEY
Fleetwood Mac is the moon energy to ABBA’s sun energy.
Like the amount of sense that this makes and the depth of it are too powerful and cryptic. The fact that this wisdom can exist in such a stable form….it astounds me.
