I mean, we get this:

And then he was “defeated” the same way he was “defeated” only, like, 70 years prior? That does not make any sense. 

What are the chances a trickster would fall for the same trick twice? I’m betting pretty slim. Especially since you “can’t outfox a fox.” 

We also got:

NOGITSUNE: You think you can beat me at my own game?

And I think the answer here is a big fat no. They didn’t beat him at his own game because, like Peter said, it was “a game without rules.” 

A divine move may have been made in this episode, but it is not the McCall “pack” that won. 

I don’t the nogitsune was ever really “defeated” and there’s also this nightmare of a scene to consider:

I don’t know that the nogitsune and Stiles actually split into two totally separate entities. Is it not possible that each body was part Stiles and part nogitsune? And that even if the pack got rid of one of them in 3x24, couldn’t “Stiles” not be fully our Stiles? I think this might have been the real divine move. 

After all:

And I think still being at least partially possessed really explains season 4 Stiles (& Stalia because Malia is so a part of this). Also, we got this in season 4:

A dark fox is pointed at Stiles while a light one faces Kira and this was all the way in 4x08. 

I really don’t think the nogitsune story line or the trickster story line has been dropped at all. We didn’t get a ton of it in season 4, at least not to where it was explicit, but I honestly believe season 4 was a setup season for what’s to come in season 5. Which, yeah, I bet is all about the tricksters and Eichen and I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if the nogitsune surfaces again. 

After all, “the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was making people think he didn’t exist.”
