Do u know what's DISGUSTING? It's when you have to remove insects from the only loaf of bread you're allowed to eat each day, but to make fun of ourselves, we call these insects "free protein." And as the saying goes, when you're hungry, your mind shuts down. Now I cover my nose when eating a loaf of bread so I don't smell it, and I avoid looking at it so I don't see the insects… But that's not important, there's worse. Malnutrition is starting to affect my 6 y.old brother , as intestinal worms are eating away at her body from the inside out and destroying her health. So, I'm appealing to you all to donate so I can buy a clean bag of flour for $500 and provide treatment for her. She's slowly dying… Or by PayPal My campaign has been verified. Donation link here or PayPal here Verification here Thank you for your time, and thank you to every heart that still feels with us.
I've only known Tiny Chef for 12 minutes and I've been crying for 11 of them. I commend the Tiny Chef animators for choosing violence

"these researchers published a paper on something that literally any of us could have told you 🙄" ok well my supervisors wont let me write something in my thesis unless I can back it up with a citation so maybe it's a good thing that they're amplifying your voice to the scientific community in a way that prevents people from writing off your experiences as annecdotal evidence
they did the research in the first place because they believed you and wanted to tell people about it. they are not our enemies.

tumblr users love reading. you literally stopped for this post just because it has words in it
this is one of my favorite bits about tumblr
the users seem to actually prefer text posts to anything else, and treat it as a chore to play a video especially with sound
Who is you, Chiron?
“We weren’t necessarily trying to find actors who looked alike or had the same build; we were looking for actors who had the same feeling. [Walter Murch’s] thesis was, ‘The eyes are the window to the soul’… I thought if I could find actors with the same eyes, the audience would connect with [Chiron’s] soul.” — Barry Jenkins
Hack for if you're struggling with ADHD paralysis and you can't get started on a task:
Step 1: Add some silly rule to the task to make it more interesting and whimsical.
Step 2: Pretend Sam Reich just told you to do it.
Here are a few examples that have worked for me recently.
(Bonus points if you can hear the setup in your head. "Alright, players, for your next challenge" 🎶ding🎶)

I guarantee that Monica at the front desk has not been able to live this review down and her coworkers absolutely bring it up regularly.
If I were Monica I'd print this review out and frame it
i promise you that nobody has ever in their life thought "wow, this other person inserted absolutely zero friction into my life. they were so efficient and worked so hard to get out of my way. i love them for that." not EVER. not ever ever. if you sublimated your own personhood that hard they didn't even think of you at all. the people we remember in life are the people who got in our way a little, and broke up our routine, who asserted their perspective and gave us something new to think about or feel. that's how we form real relationships -- by inconveniencing one another and actually having a marked influence on one another's lives. to be loved is to be annoyed. and to be annoying at someone. and to be thankful, at the end of it all, that somebody broke you out of yourself for a moment and got in your way.
it's great to be considerate and obviously not every interaction is gonna be special, but you can't go through life as if every person is a cashier that you don't want to get mad at you for asking for an extra bag.

theres bikes around the city you can rent but you have to use an app that needs your drivers license. theres buses that drive right to your destination, but if you dont have change you need the app. you can wash your car here if you sign into the app. you can go to the bathroom here you just have to unlock it with the app that needs your location on. you can order at this restaurant if you scan the code and download the app. im losing my freaking mind
i am totally going to come across as a boomer in this post but as an engineer it's common sense to not build systems with a single point of failure. and i'm starting to realize that our usage of the smart phone is exactly that. a single point of failure. the calling/texting is the implied function of the smartphone, which is fine. that's what it's built for. but nowadays we don't think to keep a physical map or atlas or gps unit in our car because our phone has google maps. we don't keep address books anymore because it's all stored in our contacts. i serve customers who no longer carry a wallet/physical card because it's all on their phone. this is literally a single point of failure. if you lose or break your phone when you are in a foreign place you are fucking screwed. maybe you're still screwed even in your home town because so many people have become accustomed to using a smart phone to take them anywhere.
i love the world so much. why do i often forget this

Flour has become a luxury item for Gazans. With bags selling for $500, many families resort to eating expired foods and whatever they can get their hands on.
If people are lucky enough to get their hands on flour, much of it is spoiled and/or contaminated with insects. The choices are disease or death by starvation. This kind of life is being imposed on almost two million people, roughly half of whom are children.
We want to provide bread made from safe flour to the families in Mawasi Al-Qarara refugee camp.
This will take about 7-10 bags of flour each costing $500 each. It’ll take $3,500-$5,000 in order to make enough loaves to feed 560 people.
