Dismissing one of the most significant proto feminist writers of the Regency Era because she does not "sufficiently value love" isn't even weak, feeble feminism anymore it is full on anti-feminist rhetoric.
Don't tell me Bridgerton isn't sexist propaganda, when one of the patriarchy's favourite talking points is that feminists are unlovable, and that women who protest against the patriarchy need the love of a good man to fix them.
I know this show is a romance and love is the endgame, but they didn't need to bloody well introduce feminism or Wollstonecraft into the show at all. They brought these things into the narrative, built up their importance for Eloise, simply to dismiss them and have Eloise outgrow them once she's ready for "love".
This show is the most sexist, repulsive, insidious trad wife propaganda on television, and the fact it sells itself as progressive just makes it all the more insidious.
Eloise will run away to Sir Phillip and marry him. The writers will crow on about how feminist this is because after years of Eloise resisting marriage, "she chose to do it". This doesn't alter the fact she is now Phillip's property but at least she did it "in her own way".
She will get the raising of the kids and the running of the household lumped onto her. Eloise will struggle at first, and will have to be "humbled" and taught just how tricky and necessary "woman's work" is. Rather than using this arc for a man who has all the liberty to do what he pleases and looks down on woman's work, or a woman who likes the idea of being an upper class wife but is unprepared for the grind of it, this arc will be used to teach a lesson to a woman who is angry and resentful of the limited opportunities and experiences available for women, because if she's not content with women's work or sees it as dull, tedious or limiting, this means she has "internalised misogyny".
She will be taught a lesson about how she didn't need to do "man things" to be empowered, and she will "mature" out of her earlier desires to have the freedom and liberty to travel, partake in higher education, experiences environments beyond the domestic or high society tier.
She will discover she can be "empowered" by being a wife and mother, and her ambitions to "change the world" will be realised through her running the house, raising her children and healing Sir Phillip's angst. Her purpose will be to be looking after her kids and husband, and this is feminist because "she chose it", and anyone challenging that will be labelled a sexist themselves because "women can be mothers and wives and feminists too" and "being a wife and mother is important and everyone critiquing Eloise's arc is sexist for wanting her to be anything else".
The show will try to make out this is more progressive than it is by focussing on how she is "in charge of the house", and that "Sir Phillip depends on her", even though he still owns the house, dependency can be a cage as much as domination, and it was customary for wives to run households, and a woman taking on the bulk of domestic and child raising labour, albeit with servants to help, so that her husband can pursue his personal passions is one of the benefits of the patriarchy that anti-feminist men are so eager to keep a hold of.
This will work in tandem with Eloise discovering that "men have it bad too", and Sir Phillip's sufferings will be treated as the worst thing the patriarchy is responsible for, and once Eloise has been taught a lesson about how good she has it compared to Phillip, Eloise's feminism will be directed towards healing a "fellow victim" of the patriarchy.
Eloise's earlier ambitions and her dislike of marriage will be dialled down to her simply desiring a husband who will like the fact she reads books, and won't stop her talking about them, and as long as she doesn't have to go to balls and can babble on about whatever is filling her pretty little head, she won't mind that she doesn't get to travel, mix in intellectual circles, experience life outside the domestic sphere or "change the world".
Any of her ambitions, dreams or goals that contradict this will be waved off as Eloise having been immature and childish, but has matured out of those things, and come to understand that the love of a good man is all she needs.
And then the writers will pat themselves on the back for writing a series all about how a woman can be "feminist and in love" at the same time, provided the feminism is diluted down to water, and the only thing to differentiate Eloise's "feminist" lifestyle from a non-feminist lifestyle is the buzzwords they use to describe it.
I just quickly wanna say I don't even go in the Bridgerton fandom, but the more I hear about this show on social media the more I'm like "Eloise Bridgerton, get behind me, I'll protect you from these sexist writers and their bullshit..."

Without access to the necessary treatment, his life is at risk, and we live in constant fear for his well-being amidst the chaos that surrounds us. These personal tragedies have deepened the urgency of our situation.
Every day is a struggle for survival, and each night is filled with prayers for a brighter tomorrow. We hold onto hope, believing that one day the clouds will dissipate, and we will find the peace we long for.
