Yes and leonard nimoy was in the opposite tube floating in a solution that made him extremely easy to draw. This was part of a campaign to prevent people drawing them getting freakin naaaaasty but it clearly was no match for the determination of all the little freaks out there. Although it is worth noting that no one has quite gotten it right yet, and that the effort required would give one two subconjunctival hemorrhages and a kidney stone, so it may be better to play it safe. Also, the tubes facing eachother led to a lot of periods of prolonged eye contact that government scientists deemed "kinda gay" so the experiment was prematurely scrapped before shatners brain developed enough to remember Walter Koenigs name at convention panels
