My name's Meaghan. For a good while now, most of my time has been spent either crying and screaming over Stranger Things, or grinning like a fool over it (and there's no in between).

hey guys !! i know iv been gone from this blog for ages, but id thought id give the few people who might still be interested in this blog a mini update.

as of right now, im not extremely certain on whether or not im ever going to be coming back to this blog for good. i had a good run in this fandom during the two years that i was here, but i havent had any interest in stranger things for a long time now. during the first few months after season two came out, i gradually began to care less and less about the show and participating in the fandom just wasn't something that was fun for me anymore. i don't want to force myself to continue to run this blog if i don't care about st since that would probably only cause me to end up despising the whole show entirely and i don't really want that !! i want at least the first season of the show to always hold a super special place in my heart. i really did love the show passionately back in 2016-2017 and i met so many wonderful people because of it, and i don't regret my decision to make this blog at all whatsoever. but i really do think its about time i moved on from it, considering how things are looking right now.

there is a possibility of season three blowing me away and bringing me back to this blog, so in hopes of that, im not going to delete anything. i also would like to have a place where i can look back on my good memories of this fandom on top of that.

but anyways !! ill wrap things up now. to any one of my old mutuals that might be reading this, know that i love you and i am forever grateful for the kindness and acceptance you showed to me over the years. all of you guys have such lovely personalities and incredible talents, and it truly was an honor to get to be able to know you at least a little bit through this blog!

season 2 episode 9 script: mileven scenes

She’d grown used to going to the movies alone. In California, especially after her parents divorced, Max tried to keep to herself. It had been a thing she shared with her dad, going to see every new action movie on opening night, splitting a massive tub of popcorn and way too much soda. But when seeing him became a “problem” (she hated every time her mom used that stupid word), Max took to seeing action movies alone. Because no one could replace her dad. 

But in Hawkins, she makes friends. And while they don’t replace her dad, they start to fill the big crater his absence stretched into her heart. So Max, after a brief hesitation, says yes when El asks her if she wants to go watch Back to the Future—just the two of them, she’s sure to specify, a “girl’s night”—something Max never thought she’d be invited to, let alone accept.  

They share popcorn (with extra butter) and soda and El even uses her allowance to buy enough candy for an entire army—Max is still amazed at her sweet tooth. 

Sometime, about halfway through the movie, Max feels her eyes start to water and shuts them tight, her lips pursed. She feels an ache in the pit of her stomach, a small, sharp pinch of guilt that she’s enjoying herself; a dull sensation of missing something irretrievable. 

And it’s not even a sad movie. She feels stupid—and that makes her tears well up past her eyelashes and down her cheeks, tracing patterns across her freckles.

El doesn’t take her eyes off the screen, but Max feels her friend’s fingers gently brush over the top of her hand, lingering a moment before they grab for the Sour Patch Kids in Max’s lap.

And that’s it. 

Max gathers herself—as best as she can—and settles deeper into the chair, burying her chin in the folds of her sweater. 

And when the movie is over, when Max’s tears have dried on her cheeks, El turns to her with a smile. 

“That was a good movie,” she says brightly, “Did you like it?”

“Yeah,” Max works to keep her voice steady, casual, “It was good.” 

And that’s it.

Max thinks for a moment she had imagined El’s gesture of comfort but as they make their way out of the theatre, dodging spilt drinks and sticky spots on the floor until they step out into the warm sunlight outside The Hawk, El links arms with her, something Max has become used to.

“It’s okay to be sad,” El assures her, “Friends can help make you feel better.” 

Max can’t help but to smile at that. She’s glad, almost relieved, El noticed her crying, but she’s not quite ready to spill about it. “Milkshakes help too,” Max offers meekly. 

“I like milkshakes,” El grins, catching on. 

“We could go see Steve at work?” 

El nods vigorously and Max is almost surprised at the happiness that starts to bubble in her stomach—and not just because she’s going to get to tease Steve about his dorky hat and get a free scoop of Rocky Road out of it. 

But also because El’s right, Max tells herself—friends make you feel better, with their simple words and their simple gestures, they become the family you miss; the family you need.

Like water was filling up his lungs and no matter how hard he tried to come up for air, how much he tried to fight it, he was drowning. And he knew why. He knew exactly what he was up against.
