LISTEN TO BOB ROSS.
Bob Ross was paid $0 to make his series. He made a living giving lessons IRL and later selling his own line of paints and brushes.
I apologize for not reblogging him as much but everyone needs this on their dash daily. Ā Seriously everyone needs this on their blog or wherever. Do they rerun this anymore or no?

A Letter to Those Who Donāt Believe
There a lot of things Iāve done in life not necessary becuase I wanted to, but because I thought I should.
I got my ears pierced at 13 because my mom kept talking about how she got hers pierced for her 12th birthday and all the kids around me got theirs pierced also, but, in the end, I didnāt really want to. Thatās why I donāt care so much about my earrings now.
I bought a bikini because that was all my mom wore and it was all the kids around me wore, not becuase I particularly wanted it. When I actually wore it, I was so incredibly uncomfortable with how much of my body was showing, because it was the wrong body, even if I didnāt know it then. Thatās why I donāt care at all for bikinis now.
I wore went dress shopping for both formal and not so formal events because my mom and everyone else I knew wore dresses all the time. When I actually wore the dresses, there was a part of me that didnāt feel quite right. Even with everyone telling me I looked beautiful and amazing something in me felt wrong. I didnāt know it then but that was the dysphoria I experience on a larger scale today. Thatās why I donāt care much for wearing dresses now.
Donāt assume that Iām not trans just becuase I did those things in the past. I had my reasons for doing what I did to fit in. That doesnāt mean that person was truly me.
Let me just add some of my experience
Thereās a reason I threw a fit over wearing dresses, I was uncomfortable, there was a reason I always wanted my hair shorter than the Bob (that I forced myself parents to deal with when I cut my hair as a toddler) thereās a reason the only way I behaved was that of a typical annoying little sister on a TV show (my parents kept getting mad at my āboyishā behavior)
Thereās a reason why my first boyfriend was a gay guy that had actual feelings for me, there was a reason that my very straight female friend was confused when she had a crush on me. Thereās a reason I flinch at my name and for some reason never felt it fit me.
Thereās a reason I started crying when I had to buy my first bra, thereās a reason for everything about me, and everyoneā¦. Mine just wasnāt taken well by my parents (who realised before I did because I thought so little about gender until high schoolā¦. I seriously didnāt realize why I didnāt like my bodyā¦)
Things are working for me so I hope everything gets better soon. For everyone.
Iāll add my story too
I always acted boyish for my age
I got crushes on girls but thought it was friendly because I was never taught about LGBT
I always had ācrushesā on guys, but didnāt realize I actually just wanted to look like them leading to failed and sexually/emotionally bad relationships
I prayed to God to let me wake up in a male body but assumed it was normal because I was never taught about trans people.
When I mentioned to my mom that I believed pronouns should be respected and got yelled at, I internalized transphobic thoughts. I over feminized and ignored my tears as I put on the dress, ignored the need to kick and scream at being handed dress after dress to try on.
Finally I snapped. I learned to bury my emotions so deep I could cut off a mental breakdown mid sob and look like I never cried in my life. I then feminized. I wore almost only skirts, I did my makeup, I smiled and acted polite and feminine.
I prayed to God again, this time to ask him what I was doing wrong and why I was always uncomfortable and plastic.
A few nights later I snapped again and was sent to a mental facility for nearly killing myself.
After I discovered myself. I realized I was trans and bisexual. I felt alleviated. Iāve asked God if this was a sin and to help me see if it was, and woke up the next morning happier than ever.
My religion and my story arenāt something Iām ashamed of, nor my gender nor my sexuality.
Add your story <3
Iām still young but Iāll add too if itās OKā¦
I noticed since I was little that I didnāt fit in with the girls around me, I thought if I did more things with the other girls then I would become more like them, so I started doing pageants.
I liked it but not because of pretty dresses and makeup, actually that part made me feel worse but I didnāt realise it until later. I liked it because I liked seeing everyone be happy and be called Queens.
But then I realised that I didnāt enjoy dressing up that the thought of wearing a dress makes me want to puke but my mom is happy seeing me on stage, my grandmother smiles and buys me flowers, and my dad calls me his pretty girl⦠Everyoneās happy seeing me do this and half the time I only do stuff to make everyone else happy.
Now Iām laying in my bed a makeshift binder pressing my chest down and a sock stuffed into my underwear because itās the only thing keeping me from crying and I donāt know how much more I can take and if Iām evening willing to make them happy anymore.
Lets add another story to this growing list of transgender tales-
I remember since I was young, just how much I hated dresses and skirts. Even more so around the holidays as my mother forced me into the same dress every christmas because she wanted me āto look niceā. It was a disgusting red velvet dress with white fur on the collar and sleeve cuffs, and it was so itchy. But I was always more uncomfortable in it than I realized back then.
I also despised the color pink, not because I didnāt like, but because that was all I was told to fucking like. āBut pink is girly, all girls like pinkā so i hated it even more.
Cut to me arriving in middle school- I had no sense of āstyleā. As long as what I wore was three sizes too big, and covered every inch of me possible, I didnāt care what it looked like. But my mother thought otherwise. She told me I had to āStop dressing like a bum and put on something niceā. She regularly told me I looked like a homeless person, or a bum, and that I was going to make her look bad. So, pressured into changing myself to avoid the abusive words, I slowly began changing myself.
I started wearing things that were more āgirlyā, things with a lower cut collar, less coverage. I even started to wear makeup. Honestly, I was disgusted with myself. But I told myself that since I was getting complements on how I looked, and now that my mother was happy, that this was me.
It didnāt last long though. My last year of middle school I reverted back to who I really was, though still very uncomfortable for unknown reasons. I dropped the dresses, the low cut shirts, threw my makeup in a box under my bed, and left my hair alone. I eventually stopped shaving as well, mostly because that shit was too much fucking work.
Cut again to my freshman year, My motherās words were worse now. Not only that, but I was starting to realize I had anxiety issues as well, and soon noticed a rapidly growing depression too. So both the words on the outside, and the inside soon forced me back to becoming plastic. I pulled the makeup back out, put the low cut tops back on, tugged on form fitting pants, and tried my best to convince myself I was who Iām not.
After even less time this time, I went back to who I was once more. But not because it was too much effort this time, but because I had begun to venture into the lgbtq+ community. Finding out about transgender people and what made them who they were made me begin to question my gender, as well as my sexuality. What I would guess at around seven to nine months later, I knew.
It was odd for me, because I woke up, and it was like something had just clicked all of the sudden. I just thought, āYup, Iām a boyā, and it was like everything was starting to piece together.
To summarize the rest-
I came out online first, then to my friends at school, all of the luckily being supportive and accepting. I asked my friends for name suggestions, as long as it didnāt start with the same letter as my dead name. One of them suggested Cole, and once more, something in me switched on. Then I broke up with my first boyfriend, whom I was dating at the time. He was straight, and it wasnāt going well anyway. Finally I came out to my parents, and as I expected it went terribly. My dad lied about wanting to support me as long as i was happy, and my mother, well, Iāll just say I wasnāt surprised with the words spoken that day. Nor the ones spoken in the two years since on her behalf.
But soon, my best friend and i will be turning 18 in a few months, and as soon as weāve saved up the money, weāll both move out together and get an apartment. Though we may rent a house if my elder sister decides to join us.
Adding on:
I was always a tomboy, and some of my earliest memories were of me pretending to be Jasper from 101 Dalmatians so I could wear my uncles clothes. I was always friends with boys, and never really Got girls.
Then when I was 10, the pressure from my Muslim grandparents to become feminine kind of made me snap. I wore dresses, and quickly became one of the most popular and feminine girls in my year. I was miserable.
Around year 6, I realized I wasnāt a girl, and that I had never really been one. It was terrifying. I had watched a transgender documentary and something clicked. I went to talk to my mum about it and she dismissed me instantly with a āBut thatās just for scummy white people with no problemsā I was in tears.
A few years on. Iām still not out to my family, although some definitely suspect. Iām out however to most of my friends and online, and that makes all the difference.
This list is so long⦠Why donāt I add another?
Iām ftm and I grew up a girl. In the early years my mom loved to dress me up as a girl, pretty skirts and sparkly shirts, but it never bothered me.
My parents let me do whatever I wanted in regards to play. I played soccer, basketball and flag football, built train tracks and toy cars and stuff out of K-Nex. I loved to play tag, wrestle and kickball with the boys, which due to my soccer experience, I was better than all of them, even with sandals. My mom tried to get me into dolls and Barbieās, but whenever I did play with them, it was short lived and somehow the dolls always ended up fighting like action figures.
Some of my best friends were boys up until the 3rd grade when I moved to a new school where the boys wanted nothing to do with girls. So I made friends with the girls, and one of my best friends turned out to be a trans boy like me (go figure).
The first time I ever felt horrible in skirt or a dress was probably sometime in the third grade, right after someone commented on the skirt I was wearing that day. I finally realized that people judged others on their clothing, and that some clothing is gendered⦠And I felt horrible.
I was actually really excited to buy a bra, I wanted to grow up. I was also really excited for middle school, where again, most of my friends were girls, but most of them turned out to be some form of LGBT+ as well (go figure). The problem started when my boobs actually started coming. I started to wear baggier shirts that I had previously not liked because I loved glittery girls t-shirts, but somehow I was more comfortable in regular t-shirts. Then I started wearing sweatshirts. I started to fight some of my momās more feminine clothe choices. When I finally got my period I found myself hoping that it was just internal bleeding rather than my period⦠And then I found Instagram.
I thought I was genderfluid at first, due to being introduced to the āmen are disgusting pigs!ā Side of feminism. I still loved being feminine, but yet I didnāt love being a girl. I didnāt, and still donāt like she/her pronouns. I donāt like my boobs, I wish my curves would be a little flatter, and even tho I love my butt cause itās cute as hell, something always felt missing from the front of me⦠I absolutely despise being called a girl, but I didnāt think trans boys were allowed to be feminine, and i didnāt want to be a disgusting pig.
But then I realized that I was, whether or not I wanted tk be. Not a disgusting pig, but just a boy in the wrong body. I realized that itās ok for me to be feminine, it doesnāt mean Iām wrong and that Iām a girl, it just means I like feminine things. Maybe once i transition and become more masculine in my body, Iāll be one of those guys out at pride wearing bootie shorts, high heels and a crop top, idk. All I know is that for now, I look like a really masculine girl, and I canāt wait to start T and get top surgery.
So, to all you doubters who say āyouāre too feminine to be a boyā, Iām not too anything to be anything. Expression doesnāt make the gender, my gender dysphoria does.
Expression doesnāt make the gender, my gender dysphoria does.
Um Ill just add mine if thats okay? Im a bit young and I forget a bit less than my life but. Since I could remember I would always wear dresses or skirts, cute pink outfits and wear a single braid (i hated the way my hair got in the way even then) and that was it. I think it was because my mother loved it and she would have problems (another post for another time) so I did it to make her happy. I remember I generally started to turn into a tomboy in elementary school I was always different from everyone always to much or to little for them. So in the summer time one year I got my hair cut and I loved it. By that time I was getting to my pre teens and I immediately hated my chest (didnt realize it really until 7th grade and I played my ukelele and it got in the way) I always questioned stuff and would make characters (sonas and gemsonas) online that were males because I always loved the pronouns he/him and that they were referring to me. Im not exactly out or transitioning but Im only really out online and my parents didnt take it seriously. Though I will tell my mothers in cali soon and theyāll for sure know.
