a lot of the girls in my life have gone through this change. we start out sexually repressed and self hating for elements of our sexuality that are a little controversial or 'problematic' and so we turn that anger and hatred outwards and do performative disgust and harrass people who are out and proud freaks. but i know that all of us are happier on the other side of the fence. people harrass us and hate us and ban us but they can never take away our pride. they can never take away the joy and whimsy. they can never take away the beautiful freaky sex. we have each other and that's everything to me

Maybe this is an unpopular hot take, but I think a good monster girl design should struggle with day-to-day life in a human world. If your monster girl can live a normal human life where her greatest inconvenience is wet dog smell or people assuming her tail is fake, you need to mix more monster in your girl.

Harpies who can't write or type or open most containers with their wings. Werewolves who worry about hurting someone if they get overstimulated at the wrong time. Minotaurs with digestive systems and metabolisms which require grazing throughout the day, not the three big meals humans are used to.

Lamias who have to stay home in the evenings and during cold months to stay warm, otherwise their muscles stop working right and they get stranded. And they're sick of their human friends suggesting they get some kind of tail sweater. It wouldn't help, the problem is that their body doesn't produce enough heat to begin with, and anyways a tail garment would get in the way of their rectilinear locomotion, and there's no way a sweater would survive being walked on in the first place. It feels like they don't actually care about you being stuck at home whenever they go out, they just want to feel like it's not their fault they never see you.

If your monster girl can't be read as some kind of disability allegory, you're doing something wrong.

there's a lot of grievance i have over monster girl design philosophy/exploration and this is one of them. i feel like another grievance i have toward monster girl designs is that the human dimorphism far outweighs + undermines monster girl part. the monster part is an afterthought (girl with dog ears and tail AT BEST).

harpies can be explored greatly based on whatever bird they're designed off of. lammergier girls who break jars in their talons by dropping them from great height since they don't possess thumbs. werewolf girlies who are debilitated by the sound of the vacuum cleaner. or monster girls who can 'recognize' their partners and peers by smell, but not faces.

there is so much that can be done with proper exploration of monster girls and it aggravates me why this isn't done more.

the narrative of only our endless egg pain is no longer compelling to me, why do you think our challenges and conflicts stop when we come out, why do you think the only time of our lives worth representing is when we're imminently misgenderable, don't you want to see her be a woman? why will you only look at us when we're flat chested boys wearing maid outfits and the moment we decide to take ownership over our lives the story ends???

Every time an author reassures readers that the smut is skippable I sigh a disappointed sigh. This is not a reassurance. Why would anybody who likes smut want to read smut that was only included as an afterthought and has no impact on the narrative? Insulting. Just don't write it at all if you're not going to make it matter.

Like 85% of tumblr users hate and loathe embarrassment based comedy with every fiber of their beings, but never in my life have I ever seen an author reassure their audience that the embarrassing scenes are skippable.

Stop trying to pass off self-censorship as “accommodation.” Stop trying to pass off pandering as “inclusivity.”

Your audience can smell your fear, and it smells rancid.

i saw a couple posts about how straightness in ts fiction is often depicted as gender affirming, "attraction to men makes you more of a girl" and all that, and i agree that that is the mechanism that makes it particularly repulsive, but I think there's another layer to this topic that itches me, which is nigh universality of t4c in ts lesbian fiction. Where you find it, you see the same pattern: a cis woman's attraction to The Girl marks her as a real woman. it reflects and reinforces really unfortunate attitudes i see from tgirl lesbians all the time; it takes it as a given that cis women have an authority on womanhood and lesbianism, and that only they can give us a pass to be let in.

Elaborate fantasy and sci-fi worldbuilding as necessary context and structure for porn is great, but what's really fantastic is when the worldbuilding is a product of the porn. It clearly didn't need to be there, but at some point the author took a closer look at the porn and started asking "okay, so what does this imply?"

Romeo and Juliet retelling but it's a married couple who are planning to carve time out of their busy schedules to go out together, but she decides to take a little nap to try to get more energy to stay up later, and when he finds her asleep he assumes she's gone to bed for real so he goes all the way to sleep (I'm talking sleep mask + vaporub + white noise + melatonin, or whatever routine people do for a REALLY good sleep) and when she wakes up from her nap and finds him out cold she just goes to bed too. the only time I ever see cis women, more specifically for this post cis lesbians engaging with trans fems is when I see the trans fem supremacy kink and no shade on them, but the lack of any sort of reverse kink within the lesbian community is very telling, perhaps the existence of sissy kink kinda ruins this vector, as most forced feminization ends up in this general area. I am thinking of more of like, a boy breaking kink, where the dominant cis girl isn't trying to humiliate a man, but rather revel in a myriad of ways of 'purifying' the trans girl bottom

My favourite aspect of the current topic. Lambasting girls for apologising too much and labeling it as a manipulation tactic is fucking wild. I’ve met so so so many girls who overapologise easier than breathing. Almost like that’s a state a lot of trans women get forced into. Never once has this been the way they wanted to live, this has been how they survive, the only way they can fulfil needs or how they were taught to function.

And even well meaning friends often can’t do more than say “hey don’t apologise”. But every time I meet a person like this, I teach them like two tricks about how to be aware of their own emotions and that day I see effort, every time.

I don’t think any disabled girls aren’t trying. I think they’re all trying their best. And making up a girl who is all flaws won’t change that. The world around these girls benefits from them having no tools to explain or understand themselves, and the idea that they will never reach for help when you try to give it sickens me.

The number of times I’ve met a girl so beaten down that she’ll apologise for being alive at all, and taught her about the way “sorry” and “thank you” can be interchanged. I’ve seen the saddest eyes ever start to smile again, fuck you.

This is just one specific complaint among many, but that wasn’t an article. It was a story with characters. Characters who don’t exist because people don’t work like that. It makes me sick.
