Us If We Were Two Small Leaves

i am thinking of us, if we were two small leaves buried in the middle of a big pile of other small leaves. i am remembering when we used to lie as leaves on the top of the pile, looking up at the sky and whispering to each other. do you remember that? today we are still whispering, but we cannot see the sky and we cannot see each other, because we are buried in a pile of small leaves. i wonder if this is symbolic, and that maybe the darkness is a sign from God. and then i wonder if this is not symbolic at all, and this is just what falling does to leaves that used to be attached to trees, but have died. and i wonder if we will one day be at the bottom of the pile. or lower. if we sink into the ground and become fossils, or compost, or dirt for children to walk on. and i wonder if we will remember each other when we change. and i wonder if we will ever stop whispering, or if we will ever stop hearing the whispers. and i tell you all that i am wondering. and then, when you don’t whisper back, i realise you have stopped hearing me. or stopped responding. and i don’t like not knowing.

Reblogging for later reference after I tried it earlier today to try to calm down. It actually does help a lot, not just for sleep but if you have problems with anxiety.

My default mental setting is “vibrating intensely in the background.” After doing this, I felt noticeably calm and relaxed - I wasn’t as fixated on my breathing, I wasn’t tense, my movements weren’t jerky and I didn’t feel like I had to be as tense as possible to be under control. 10/10 would recommend.

we echoed our own beauty standards onto the earth. we told the ocean she was beautiful in the hopes it would make her less dangerous. we went out into the sea, we were killed. we begged, we bowed, you’re beautiful. i love the sea, its beautiful. you’re beautiful, beautiful, dont hurt me. eventually we stopped going out into the ocean. she was too rough. the stories never stopped though. daughter — thats the ocean. she’s pretty, i think. and one day, eventually, we went back in to the sea. we forgot how vicious and uncaring she was. look, there’s the ocean, we said. she’s beautiful. we walked right up to her, she’s gorgeous, and then kind, and can be trusted. we forgot that the sea doesn’t care if we think her gorgeous, and we are eaten by the waves.
