Solarpunk has failed. It's time for the Solar Gothic. Show me an environmentally conscious world that is haunted by its past; where its failures still intrude upon the present. Where the characters live in the shadow of a decadent but much more materially wealthy past whose crumbling edifices mock them with the waste and the missed opportunities they represent. Show me characters who remember the promise of modernity, the story of ever-growing progress, and either lament that it is not for them or continue to cling to it like madmen. Show me a world that's trapped, claustrophobically, in an anthropocene that they are only gradually learning to manage, and where all former illusions of mastery or permanence have been dispelled.
that super hot femme with weird interests can change your life btw
“you’re such a ray of sunshine!” thanks! one day i chose to act happy and then i kept choosing it over and over and over and over until the neurological pathways formed like desire paths in the thicket. i dug and clawed my nails into the grooves of my brain and carved out joy. i retouch it every day.
I was just thinking about the old Japanese censorship laws that gave birth to tentacle porn...
So for anyone not in the know, the Japanese government decided to fight perversion with censorship.
Specifically you weren't allowed to draw penises.
So they drew things that WEREN'T penises instead. Like tentacles. Fast forward to today and tentacle porn is an entire standalone genre with thousands upon thousands of examples and enjoyers.
The attempt at censorship did not quell perversion, it only caused it to mutate.
And now I'm thinking about tumblr's decision to ban porn and of all the people leaving captions under videos of heavy machinery and industrial accidents like "I need someone to do this to me" and "this wouldn't fix me but it would help" or "everything reminds me of her"
All this to say that without porn on Tumblr
The perverts are mutating again
I hate, hate, HATE the term “affordable housing.” I hate that we’ve normalized it. I hate that we just accept that the majority of housing, a basic human right, is unaffordable to much of the population. Housing should be affordable as a baseline. If rich people want to add arcades and gold-plated hot tubs on top so be it, but everyone, everyone, regardless of income level, should have access to a clean, comfortable home with enough light and space to make life worth living.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
Chai tea bag + lil but of brown sugar + apple cider packet + 16 oz. mug of hot but not quite boiling water
it will not Fix You but like. maybe. maybe.

Update: this is the best post I've ever made because everyone is sharing their Warm Beverage recipes in the notes. Go check the notes for more Warm Beverages That Will Fix You.
depending on how much you want to make: 1 jug of filtered apple juice, half a jug of unfiltered apple juice (optional), 1 large orange sliced into four, 1 lemon sliced into four, four cinnamon sticks, about 9-15 pieces of clove, 5-10 pieces of allspice, an apple skinned and sliced up; Let this simmer for 1-2 hours on low then 30 minutes on medium
yes I know it's apple cider but I fucking love this stuff and I can drink it all year round tbh
I love my job, but reblogging employment jelly for someone else I love.
there’s men out here that would bark if you asked them to once and you’re over here asking a man for something twice? STOP IT
You know that thing where adults will entice babies to eat food by pretending the spoon is an airplane?
I think perhaps most of successful adulting is learning how to do that for yourself.
Keeping a planner or bullet journal is boring, but using your favorite pens or listening to Vivaldi while you do it is nice.
Working out kinda sucks, but your Playlist for Working Out doesn't.
Weeding the yard is tedious, but you can listen to the baseball game while doing it.
Pasta and store bought tomato sauce for dinner is kind of meh, but at least you have plates you specifically picked out.
I feel like everything I'm saying here is really obvious, but at some point I internalized the idea that the way to do things you don't want to do is to just tough it out, and expecting a spoonful of sugar with your medicine, metaphorically speaking, is for babies and you're supposed to outgrow it. But we don't outgrow it. At most the sorts of things we find appealing change.
It's not childish to want a little joy with your drudgery. (Or to tell yourself you did a good job afterwards.)
Happy anniversary, Stonewall riots! Stay revolutionary!
