imagine you regularly drank a lot of water and refused to pee for like 12 hours at a time and then you went to the dr and said you have this problem where you always feel the overwhelming need to pee and end up peeing for a really long time, and the dr was like, “mmm yes, i’ve seen peeing addiction before: you want to escape from life; you isolate yourself bc you feel ashamed about your long pees. let’s talk about the underlying emotions that cause your compulsive peeing and how you can manage your feelings in order to pee for a normal amount of time”

that’s truly how clinicians approach disordered eating behaviors!
