UK and European tour is booked for January - March
The tour will be announced “next week or the week after” (think Miles forgot when the podcast was due to be aired!)
Miles is at peace with himself and doesn’t feel the need to have so much bravado – though the rock star element of that will always be there
He recorded the album in three days
Some of the vocals were done in just three takes
Miles planned a different outfit for each song (because of course he did)
Miles was going to make “One Man Band Part Two” with James Skelly and went to Nashville to meet Dan and write one song together. They clicked so much they wrote a whole album
Sunlight in the Shadows (the sentiment) is about finding yourself when you think you’re lost or have gone down a dark path (Miles gave the examples of drugs and alcohol)
Miles is happy being on his own and enjoys those moments of solitude where he can do what he wants to do and sit in front of the TV and write songs
When asked what he’ll think of the album in twenty years; “it’s fucking amazing”
He got asked about Alex (because of course he did, where’s that Simpsons don’t make me tap the sign post? 🫠)
They went out for dinner the night before the podcast was recorded and talked about EYCTE being ten years old next year and TAOTU being twenty years old and how crazy that is
TLSP3 would have to be organic rather than planned, as a plan to make a follow up would be “too much pressure” for both of them
If it happens, it’ll be when Miles and Alex are both “sat on the sofa watching Alan Partridge” 🤣☺️
Miles’s mum’s favourite song is “Always in Over My Head”
Sunlight in the Shadows is going to be the new closing song and Miles thinks the crowd will go wild for it, “like the new Come Closer”
Six or seven new songs will be played at the full band show on Friday
Miles takes recording really seriously and goes into the equivalent of boxing training camp where he rehearses daily and stops drinking alcohol etc to focus
Overall it was a lovely listen, Miles seems really happy and I can’t wait to hear the album in full!
