My thoughts on “Whispers of Fate”
(in no particular order) 😅
Ye Mo and Tang Lici were both deprived of a loving childhood. Both yearned to be part of a family. Tang Lici had Fang Zhou to mentor and guide him like a big brother and parent. Ye Mo planned for Tang Lici to be his teacher/master to instruct him in the ways of human emotions.
Xiao Shi / Ye Mo drew a picture of himself with A Shui and Tang Lici. In the reset timeline, does this mean A Shui and Tang Lici will be Ye Mo’s parents? Or will Tang Lici find Xiao Shi and take him as his disciple again?
In the reset timeline with the Tianren Realm still in Shenzhou (the mortal realm), are the people of the Tianren Realm still demi-gods who still have their powers? What’s to prevent them from wanting to separate themselves from Shenzhou again and then undoing everything Tang Lici did to reset the timeline?
After Tang Lici returns in his white fox form, what exactly is the new calamity in the mortal world that makes everyone take up arms again and has Tang Lici turn into a dragon to help ward off the calamity?
Ye Mo was hiding in plain sight in the Sword Society as Xiao Shi and no one was able to figure this out, not even the cunning Tang Lici.
If mortals are unable to practice the skills of the Tianren Realm (i.e. the Heavenly Changing Sutra and Rebirth Tomb) without eventually dying via body explosion, how was it that Xifang Tao, a seemingly mortal woman, was able to learn the Heavenly Changing Sutra from her foster father, Gui Mudan, without dying from it? Did he do something to prolong her life like he did to prolong A Shui’s life when he gave A Shui the magical fragment?
We find out that Xue Xianzhi was also a demi-god from the Tianren Realm from a behind-the-scenes clip, but his origins were never touched upon in any of the 40 episodes. How powerful was Xue Xianzhi if he went all out against Ye Mo and Tang Lici? Xue Xianzhi had plenty of interactions with Tang Lici, but did he ever know about or meet Ye Mo since Ye Mo came to Shenzhou before Tang Lici did?
A prequel series or movie about Ye Mo’s time in Tianren Realm and Shenzhou would offer additional world building.
Since the Tianren Realm never left Shenzhou in the new timeline, does this mean there is no Gumo Kingdom since the Gumo Kingdom was built upon the ruins of Tianren Realm after the realm separated from Shenzhou?
How many years passed by between Ye Mo’s destruction of the Gumo Kingdom and his arrival at the Biluo Palace to meet the former palace master, Wanyu Yedan’s father?
How did the operator of the mechanical beast survive the explosion after his mechanical beast got blown up by Tang Lici during the battle at Biluo Palace?
Gui Mudan’s white cat tried to save him, but was instead saved by Gui Mudan, and ultimately the cat made Gui Mudan realize what true human emotions are.
What were Tang Lici’s remaining friends all doing during the final battle when meteors were raining down on Shenzhou? Were they forewarned and tried to make preparations? Were they out in the streets saving people? Or did everyone die instantly?
With Ye Mo’s strategic planning and foresight, how could he not have foreseen that Liu Yan would return his half of the Rebirth Tomb to Tang Lici upon dying when the two have already mended their broken friendship, which ultimately led to Ye Mo’s defeat?
Did Tang Lici really turn back time? Or did he create an alternate universe for all his friends to live in?
Since Tang Lici used the Inverted Dream technique, was the reset timeline just an illusion manifested from Tang Lici’s mind based on his vision of a perfect world?
The first time Tang Lici encountered the Inverted Dream technique, we saw that his body was still in the present timeline whereas his mind had traveled to the past. So is “Inverted Dream” really a way to turn back time? Or is it just as the name implies, in which everything experienced is just a dream or a virtual reality?
It seemed like Xue Xianzhi had known Shui Duopo for a long time. She used to be Princess Xiya of the Gumo Kingdom before Ye Mo destroyed it. Xue Xianzhi calls Shui Duopo an old woman, but just how old is she? And how did the two meet? Why is Shui Duopo’s present day appearance different from when she was Princess Xiya? And when did she become a divine healer?
Could Tang Lici have cured A’Shui’s fatal heart disease with his Rebirth Tomb had he known about it? What made the heart disease so fatal that not even Shui Duopo could heal A’Shui?
The female master in the Sword Alliance used her dying breath to avenge her husband’s death, but it was never mentioned before that she was a widow.
We know that Zhong Chunji was not the real missing princess of the current empire. As long as the imperial court had a member of royalty in the Sword Alliance, it didn’t matter to them that Zhong Chunji’s identity as a princess was fake; but ultimately, who was the real princess? Many viewers have stated that Xifang Tao was the real princess. There was also talk about Miss Hong being the actual princess. It couldn’t have been A’Shui as she was Fang Zhou’s biological sister and neither of them were said to have royal blood. Personally, I would have preferred to have Miss Hong as the real princess with her demure personality and elegant looks.
Another fan of the series speculated that Miss Hong threatened to cut off A’Shui’s legs because the former had no legs herself. Supposedly, there was a brief scene showing Miss Hong wearing prosthetics at the knees when she was seated at her harp. (I’ll have to do a rewatch and see if I can spot this scene.)
Liu Yan is so powerful because he has half of the Rebirth Manual/Tomb from Tang Lici. How powerful would he be without it?
