Priestess of Resolution just awkwardly smiled, shuffling on the spot, as the gentle breeze blew past them which seemed to only affect the other. The fact that the other remained quiet after she answered the question made her feel… Well awkward overall considering she wasn’t sure what the stranger was thinking in the slightest.
Although that smile soon faded away when the stranger finally broke the silence and revealed her name or rather title to the Priestess which only served to baffle her…. Leavened One? Beast of Apathy? How could someone who shares the same appearance as her be….
A Beast of Apathy or even represent apathy in the slightest?
“Ah…. I see… Well… This is certainly a unique meeting… Ummm So…. Where am I exactly considering I don’t recognize this area?”
Ah, a lost smile, the growing hesitation. Possibly the first steps towards apathy.
“Few forget the climb here so easily,” perhaps this cookie is more foolish than she first appears, or perhaps strange magic is at work. Irrelevant either way.
“You stand on sacred ground. The Ivory Pagoda, located within the Land of the Immortals and situated amidst the Flour Mountains.” A small bow, “as this realms master, I welcome you.”
each depiction is more disturbing than the last — which, quite frankly, is really saying something. ( it takes a lot to make shadow milk feel queasy. ) ❝ ... this doesn't make sense. ❞ the beast mutters under his breath. he gazes down at the drawing of "himself" — that twisted, monstrous mass of eyes and teeth. not one of his finer looks, he must admit. this cookie body already feels wrong; an ill-fitting shell that just barely manages to contain a vast and eldritch consciousness. however, it's a discomfort he's well-accustomed to — and one that he can exert a certain degree of control over. having that changed against his will is a notion unsettling enough that shadow milk is suddenly reminded what it's like to feel fear. no, no. he doesn't like that.
... but why would he call out his own name? why is he both the culprit and the victim?
❝ how on earthbread are there two of us? ❞ he's no doubt mystic flour has pondered that question herself. the lack of explanation means she's presumably just as stumped as shadow milk. well, that's just great. ❝ could we lose control over the soul jams? ... but if that were the case, this artificial dough would just crumble to dust... not to mention the oh so very special role yours truly has to play in this fiasco, a-befitting the main character... ❞ shadow milk rubs at his temples, deliberately exaggerating his sigh in a weak attempt at levity. ❝ riddles, huh? can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em. talk about a real pain in the you-know-what. ❞ he likes it better when HE'S the one coming up with the brain teasers.
oh well. no point in slamming their noggins into a proverbial brick wall. there's no telling how much time they have — which means it's a luxury they can't afford to waste. ❝ by the by, i paid our close, personal frrriend dark enchantress a visit while you were indisposed. ❞ he feigns indifference, pretending to inspect his nails. they still look normal, if she was wondering. ❝ oh, she is so, so, so pleasant as always! which is to say, lacking in style AND substance. also, her obsession with maroon is something i will NE-VER understand. eugh, so tacky. ❞ the beast rolls all of his eyes. ❝ buuut i digress. ❞
he suddenly leans against the table, propping his chin up in his hands and scattering pen and paper alike. ❝ SURPRISE! we've been inviteeed to parley. ❞ shadow milk croons. ❝ we, the great beasts, and the half-baked wannabe witch herself. ❞ he tilts his head. ❝ now, is it just me, or does this timing feel suspiciously convenient to you? ❞
Loss of control, multiples, metaphors, all possible explanations. All equally meaningless.
Quietly, as he spoke, she created one last ink drawing. A Haetae’s body, featuring matted fur, long untrimmed claws, and a giant black spot where the face should be. She pressed the ink so hard it bled through to the other side of the page, staining those below it when added to the now scattered pile.
Her hand held the edge of the page for a moment. A lingering trace of her fear and distress from before. Until she pulled back, buried the emotion deep, and rested the pen back on the desk.
Mystic Flour turned to face him, her usual closed eyes expression resting on her face.
“Convenient… yes, that’s certainly one word for it.” She moved back from the table, away from the drawings, she needed to think…
They needed more than her visions supplied, something more solid, tangible. “Perhaps, just this once, we should humour this cookie. She may reveal more information about her true plan. How it ties into… this…” She gestures to the pages without looking.
“It’s someone’s birthday, so the Ivory Pagoda will be closed for today.”

Mystic Flour
Quality time for sure. Mystic Flour shows she cares not through words or gifts, but by remaining present. Wasting fleeting time together is a sign of her love, platonic or romantic. If she truly did not care, she would simply leave.
Peach Blossom
Emotional security. Peach Blossom has devoted his life to building a safe haven. Is it any surprise that he shows love the same way? Trying to make those that he loves feel cared for, protected, and safe?
Inconsequential pride month everyone. May it be as fleeting as always.

Kind of. She’s picked up some routines through watching others perform as thanks or just in joy for their wishes being granted. But good luck ever convincing her to, she’s more likely to turn someone to dust than dance.
Peach Blossom
Never formally taught or trained, but that does not make him unwilling. He’ll follow the steps of another willing to lead, or improvise with the wind should the mood strike him.
Cloud Haetae
Nah, they don’t know how to dance. Not a lot of music in the ivory pagoda nowadays, and they never cared to learn. If they ever tried, it would purely be improvised.

He tries to be polite as he refuses to accept the gift. He doesn’t want or need much anyways, so he has no reason to take something he dislikes.
Cloud Haetae
Two options, either they mocking the gift and insult you, or they feign enjoyment just to trash it later.
