Get down to
Business
To defeat the huns
This person wrote a manifesto I ain’t reading all that but this is literally the type of behavior im talking about the idea hobbies all cost money is so removed from reality if you have the time to pick up your phone and write 7 paragraphs on how im victimizing you with my offhanded post you have the time to watch a movie on YouTube with your very same phone instead come on now. How is you freaking out on the internet helping any of these issues
things that dont cost money: hiking, walking, birdwatching, identifying plants, drawing (you have a pen, reading (library), collecting rocks, dancing, singing.... etc wtc etc
if you cant find a hobby you can afford, thats a you problem. and if youre posting online, you have a device to do that, get some free games, trawl wikipedia, study something. stop picking fights online and do something else.
if you can write an essay about it on your phone you can write fanfic or poetry or something on your phone also and it will be much nicer for everyone involved, including you
anyone want to give me two million dollars for absolutely nothing in return
"What if your mom aborted you?" idk what if my parents never met. what if my grandparents never met. what if my older sister was such a nightmare child that my parents decided one is enough. what if the world was made of pudding
what if my mom didn't abort the ectopic pregnancy she had before me and didn't survive to get pregnant with me in the first place
“Attempting To Read News In 2025” (medium: safari with ads, screencap, 2025)
If this shit happened in 2005 it meant your computer had a virus
I hate that thing some people do where it's like. "I left my wallet on the table to see if you'd say anything" or "I wanted to see if you'd wash the car if I stopped doing it"
Cause like
I dont know about anyone else
But I am perpetually hovering three inches above the strong subconscious belief that everyone knows what they're doing at all times except me, so if you change your normal patterns and I notice, then I will assume it is an intentional choice with a thought-out plan behind it and I will avoid interfering
And if I don't notice, because I won't, because why would I, because not much bothers me and if you don't say anything to indicate you are bothered then how would I KNOW
Alternatives to experimenting on me like a lab rat when you suspect me of being inconsiderate:
"I feel like I'm the only one who does this chore. Can we start taking turns?"
"I'd like you to ask me how I'm doing more often."
"It bothers me when this area stays messy so long. Can you do X when Y happens?"
"I feel like the onus is on me to initiate X, and it's wearing me down. Could you try making the first move more? Like 3-4 times a week?"
"I'm feeling upset right now and I'd like to spend some time with you."
"When X happens, I feel like you're taking my work for granted."
"I'm feeling neglected. Could you do X?"
"I'm burnt out and need help."
"I feel like I'm the only one putting effort into X."
"Do you notice this?"
"Are you bothered by this?"
"I am bothered when this happens."
"X habit of yours bothers me."
"When X is like this, I feel bad. Can you [action] when you notice X?"
shit man tomorrow is christmas eve i swear yesterday was June 2010
As is tradition in tumblr culture the locals unearth the corpse of a long deceased figure and drag it across the streets merrily, laughing at what is preserved of the person’s words. This custom, seen as morbid in other cultures, is instead done gleefully and with an unmatched enthusiasm
one thing i am quite grateful to Brian David Gilbert for is the phrase "If you needed ME to tell you that... I'm glad I told you that."
it has been etched into my brain for the past six years, fundamentally altering how i consider knowledge gaps held by others, as well as myself. people usually need to be told stuff before they can know it! that's how knowing stuff works! this is an extreme example played for laughs but it's a legitimately helpful philosophy!!
listen i am totally also turned off of of products by AI advertising because it suggests a cheapness in the operations of the company that i automatically assume will be reflected in whatever product i receive but i neeeeeeed i need people to stop pretending that what we were seeing from the ADVERTISING INDUSTRY before AI represented reality.
a lot of what you might naturally assume are product photos are digital mockups. i can understand not realizing that if you've never had a reason to mock anything up yourself, but it should go without saying that the 'happy looking cat' in the advertisement for your local veterinarian's office was not a real photo of an animal they have taken care of before being replaced with ai. it was a stock photo they have licensed that will have been subject to any amount of undisclosed digital manipulation before it ends up in front of you. and this is without even touching on the tactics that are used to mislead in actual product photography. "product is not accurately reflected by the images used to advertise it" has been an issue since the inception of advertising....

the annoying thing about weightlifting is that you have to lift weights that are a little too heavy for you if you want to get stronger. and you have to push yourself outside of your comfort zone in order to keep building muscle. fucked up.
thank god this same principle doesnt apply to any other skill you want to improve at! that would really suck.
