You couldn’t do a straightforward Human Nature plot set in the 12th Doctor era bc if 12 got fobwatched Clara would immediately steal his identity. Missy would also steal his identity. Absolutely insane Doctorfication possibilities.

Also, 12’s forgotten memories canonically manifest as songs AND he’s faceblind, so he wouldn’t even have a dramatic dream journal full of half-remembered portraits, he’d just be hanging out in his university office shredding guitar solos while Bill (who he just met) is like “Wow, sick riff Professor Smith!” and he’s like “Thanks, it’s called I Dreamt I Rode a Dinosaur.”

Hey! just wanted to check you're okay because you don't post on here anymore

Hello! I’m afraid I don’t know when this ask was sent, but it’s long-overdue that I answer it.

I promise I’m alright! I apologize for worrying you! I’m still around (and trapped in tumblr forever).

But in the past couple years, I’ve moved away from Doctor Who... I still love it dearly, but now another fandom occupies most of my time.

And, alas, it seems like times have changed. I personally see very few tags on Doctor Who posts. It could be a shift in fandom culture, or it could be my own shift into other fandoms. It’s hard to say.

But rest assured- I do still have this blog in the back of my mind. If I find anything, I’m happy to post! And if not, this blog isn’t going anywhere. May it stand as an archive of the tumblr fandom, always.

Those first two gifs kill me even worse than Tegan crying (and Tegan crying makes my chest HURT). Because Adric’s clinging to Varsh’s belt so tightly it has to hurt. He knows he failed, and the Doctor’s not going to come for him. If the Doctor was coming, he’d be there by now. He feels like he screwed up so bad that the Doctor won’t come for him.

And poor Tegan… she’s remembering that odd little smile he gave her on the freighter, when he said “I’ll see you soon.” She will spend the rest of her life wondering if he knew and told her that so she wouldn’t worry. It’ll haunt her for the rest of her life, she’ll wake up crying sometimes because she saw that smile in her dreams, and she’ll never be able to explain why it hurts so much because she ran away from the only person who’d understand.

Nyssa’s fighting back tears. She’s lost her father to the Master, her entire world to entropy, and this hurts just as much as those losses do because Adric was part of the only family she had left. And still, her first thought is to comfort Tegan and stay strong for the Doctor. She can’t let herself cry, even though she wants nothing more. She’s a noble of Traken and that means putting herself aside.

And the Doctor… Oh, the Doctor. He and Adric hadn’t gotten along very well since he’d regenerated, but at the thought of Adric wanting to leave at the beginning of the story set him off because he didn’t want him to go. He cares so much, and he doesn’t know how to show it any more. But finally, finally it looked like they’d reached a point where they could be friends again… And it’ll never happen. That brave, inquisitive, brilliant boy who managed to stow away, who suffered at the Master’s hands for him, who did what he couldn’t and calculated a safe path through the CVE to E-Space, is gone. And he can’t save him. The Doctor, who always finds a way to seize victory at the last moment, has failed. He wll never forgive himself.

#out of all the things I’ll never fogrive about the storytelling after season 5 THIS takes the bloody cake no contest #how Amy’s relationship with her parents was so blatantly PROVOKINGLY ignored #Amy’s loss of her parents is one of the major aspects of her story arc in season 5 right? #she lost them and moved to a strange place with an aunt who was never home #the same aunt who didn’t believe the stories about Amy’s raggedy Doctor and told her to stop believing in stars #growing up in a broken home with no one believing in her made her bitter insecure and cynical and that’s the CORE of Amy’s character #so then the Doctor sacrifices himself and gets written out of the Universe so that Amelia Pond can have her family back #and she does and she looks so thrilled to have her mum and dad back #when she first sees them in the Big Bang it’s just so obvious how happy she is by her giddy face #AND THEN NOTHING #NADA #WE NEVER HEAR ABOUT THEM AGAIN #Amy Pond was denied the ONE THING every companion (including Rory) has had: an episode about her family #does she love her dad or mum the most? #did her parents believe the stories about the Doctor? #are they on board with her life choices? #what do they do to keep her safe? #not to mention that there have been two episodes (without even counting next week’s) where all this could have been dealth with #in Let’s Kill Hitler we see her growing up with Mells and Rory and yet NO PARENTS EVER in her house #in the Girl Who Waited there are tons of references to her childhood and adolesence and AGAIN NO PARENTS EVER MENTIONED #might I also say that Amy has two realities in her head and that was never addresed either #(no a DVD extra doesn’t count) #I wanted so much more for you #but you’re still a Queen
