Me sitting in unblinking silence inventing 6 new ways to Hurt The Character in my mind

some of the whump prompts that are very dear to me:

character being so traumatized by the assault they went through that they’re not able to sleep properly and always jerking awake at every little noise, because they’re paranoid and scared that the people who hurt them will barge through the door and hurt them again

character being so exhausted, weak and wounded that they sleep like the dead, still and limp and are practically in a coma-like state. they are completely unaware of the presence of any other people in the room (maybe these people are doctors and nurses who are helping them, maybe they’re the people who have hurt them, or maybe they’re their loved ones making sure they’re safe and okay, but regardless they are so deep asleep that do not stir one bit)

Whump Prompt List: New Pains & Problems

"God Caretaker, my back is killing me." Whumpee smirked, showing off their back in an obvious 'come rub my shoulders' pose.

"Do I really have to use this?" Leader frowned, waltzing around with their brand new cane in a dejected circle. They needed more practice to get used to it.

"So what do you think?" Whumpee asked themselves, staring into the mirror. The outfit could use some work, but the decorations plastered onto their wheelchair truly sold the look. Finally some personality in new wheels.

Winged whumpee is growing used to the prosthetic of their missing wing. In their impatient stupor they've gone flying before they were ready, maybe injuring themselves again.

"Remove it." Whumper commanded. Whumpee's hands trembled before their face, the fingers curling over their facial prosthetic.

Whumpee with a bionic attachment is experiencing some malfunctions.

A whumpee's glasses breaking in the middle of an unfair fight.

"I don't have time for this." Leader lamented from the hospital bed.

A recently transformed villain looked in the mirror, admiring their new fangs. The jaw pain was excessive. Surely it would all be worth it though. They can't wait to try them out on Hero.

i really love it when a character is about to pass out and they try to hold onto something to catch themselves but whatever it is, it's unstable so it just falls over with them. or when they try to catch themselves on a table or something like that but instead of it helping, everything on it just ends up falling down with them. and possibly causes injury to the character.

I don't think I've seen anyone mention this but, when you sleep a total of fifteen hours with a fever then you sort of lose your balance after such a long time. Imagine Whumpee is finally out of their fever but when they try to get up, their knees just buckle.

Thinking about when a Caretaker reads to a whumpee.

Like not because they're bored or asked to hear a story, like that can be cute, but that's not what I'm talking about.

When Whumpee is barely conscious if at all from fever, meds, injuries, w/e, and it's all so quiet in their room, and they're reading for whumpee, but not in the sense that they hear any more than a few bits of the story, they're reading to fill that smothering silence, to show them how much they care about them through their presence or the content of the words they're not even really hearing. Because someone should be with them in some small way and they shouldn't just be left to their pain and the silent room.

Maybe caretaker doesn't realize how much their presence is company and they see the book as a better companion, maybe they need to try and tell Whumpee that they care about them and another person's voice seems like the only way to do it. Maybe they don't trust themselves not to put their own pain first if they speak so they're reading off the page. Maybe the book is one of Whumpee or caretaker's favorites and the other knows nothing about it, but they can only hope it can bring Whumpee some measure of comfort when there's nothing else they can really do until something in their condition changes better or worse.

removing their shoes and forgetting about them
