Whumper who's gentle and almost kind throughout the first part of the assault, almost denying the fact that it's assault at all. They keep comforting Whumpee, especially if Whumpee's a virgin ("I know its a lot - your first time having sex. breathe for me" even though it's not sex, its assault, but Whumpee is beginning to question that).

Then, when Whumpee panics, and finally says the word rape, there's a shift in Whumper. All of a sudden the veil has been lifted: there's no way of rationalizing this or pretending it's consensual, and both of them are painfully aware of it. So Whumper embraces it, all of the gentleness and slow pace gone in a heartbeat. If Whumpee thinks their being raped, if Whumper is going to be falsely accused, Whumper might as well finish the job.

i love that sort of thing - whumper with the belief that they're being gentle so whumpee has nothing to whine about. they're not being rough, so it's not assault. that particular kind of whumper who will specifically get angry at whumpee for 'forcing' them to rape whumpee when whumpee could've just gone along with it. this could havce been kind. this could have been gentle. it was gentle, didn't you feel that? didn't you hear how caring i was? whumper was reminding them to breathe, to relax. they were taking it slow and introducing whumpee to sex so considerately. most people would be lucky to have a first time like this.

but if this is the way whumpee wants it, fine. if whumpee wants to whine and cry and fight and call whumper a rapist, then whumper will show them a rapist. whumper will hurt them all over. whumper will hurt them inside. bruise them inside, leave them limping, leave a lingering ache every time they move if they want it to be like this. if they want this to be a rape, fine. whumper will rape them.

Can I offer a reframe of the common "write the shitty first draft" advice? I like that advice a lot but I think the way it's often presented bounces off a lot of people and activates shit that does not help writing happen.

I think of the first draft as an armature.

If I was making a beautiful bronze statue, I would need to make a clay model first. And, depending on the shape, before I even got out my clay I would need to get some good thick wire and create a basic shape for the clay to adhere to, so it doesn't all fall down. Once I have this essential 3D wire frame, I can start building and subtracting and refining.

But if I try to refine on just clay, it won't have enough of a core to hold it up. I'll sculpt a beautiful hand only to have the whole arm fall off and go smush.

The armature isn't the sculpture. It is the frame you build the sculpture around.

The first draft isn't the novel, it's a sort-of-novel-shaped thing that will hold up everything you build and beautify later.

Write the armature draft. Try to make it a good armature, instead of trying to make it a good novel before it's ready.

god, yeah. it's this like... this involuntary, startled, kind of confused reaction, and also this sort of... this hope, conscious or not, that maybe whumper just doesn't realize that they're hurting whumpee. that whumpee is in pain. if they realize, then they'll stop. right?

My friend just told me something I've been thinking about for HOURS. Her partner is an ER nurse and apparently my friend showed up at their place exhausted and apparently dehydrated and her partner just? Gave her IV fluids?? That makes me feel feral and insane that's the hottest thing I've ever heard and it also never occurred to me people were just doing that in their living rooms. The fic potential is off the charts. This will not leave my brain.

Character refuses to be admitted to the hospital or insists on checking themself out early? Now introducing, IV At Home! Character is upset/injured and not taking care of themself? Gets shaky and dehydrated? You guessed it, IV At Home!

Thinking about characters getting a nice demeaning slap in the face, in *warning*, telling them in not so unsubtle terms to watch their mouth. Two slaps maybe... or a backhand if they're really pushing it...

If you think about it, kissing is actually deeply invasive, much harder to ignore or dissociate from that lots of other forms of intimate violence, so clearly a mockery of something that is meant to be enjoyable and mutual. Anyway I think that more people should write non consensual kissing

the bone-chilling moment when Whumpee realizes that their begging, screaming, crying, pleading - not only will it not make the Whumper stop, it excites them, amuses them. Every plea or sound of pain only seems to spur Whumper further, like Whumpee's pain is oxygen feeding the fire.

whumpee being forced to stand for long periods of time. as a punishment? because whumper wants to show their special pet to people? being used as a model for something? many options

whumpee is used to whumper taking off their belt to hit them with it, so when they hear the clink of the buckle they think they know what to expect. they brace to be struck, but this time whumper has other ideas, and whumpee has barely a second to process this new, totally unexpected violation before it really begins.

oh this is brilliant. this is utterly brilliant. belts in whump is one of my favourite things, i love that, and the specific bait and switch of knowing what kind of abuse to expect, being braced for it, and then experiencing a very different, unexpected kind of abuse.

whumpee is bent over, on a desk or a bed or over the back or arm of a couch. their head is down, they can't see whumper, but they don't have to. they always hear the belt before it comes off and they know what comes next. their shirt is off or maybe whumper even forces them to strip naked before they're beaten.

and maybe when whumper starts touching them, groping them, beginning the assault, they fight. whumper forces their legs open, pushes something inside them - whumper's fingers, or dick, or a toy - and they start thrashing, yelling. and that's when whumper gets frustrated and grabs the discarded belt, folding it in half and cracking it across whumpee's shoulders.

if they're going to make such a problem, they can get both.
