When whumpee is forced to bend over/lay down on a piece of furniture and the whumper starts pulling at their clothes they assume they're about to be beaten only to be in for an even more unpleasant shock.

the denial is so chewy, like. they know something bad is about to happen. their clothes are being pulled off, they're being stripped. and they don't know, they can't know what's going to be done to them. they think they're going to be beaten. maybe they even have been forced over or pinned to furniture like this and beaten before.

but it doesn't go like that. and there's the question of how long the denial lasts - and how much they blame themself for it after. maybe they'd have fought harder if they could've acknowledged what whumper was going to do to them. maybe they could have stopped it. they shouldn't have just lain there, bracing for pain, and waited for it to happen.

it was bad enough that they were ready to just take a beating. they were so used to it, so ready to just let it happen, and then they let this happen instead. that probably means they deserved it, right? they could have fought at all.
