Waaah work has been hella crazy but I will be on tonight to do replies!! 😘😘
“The drink’s on the house if you can tell me something new. This shift has been dreadfully long.” Dallas remarked, placing a glass on the bar.
“You’re still going to get a tip, because I adore you.” Max beamed, placing a 5 dollar bill into the tip jar. “Everything has been pretty peachy, actually. Can’t say I have exciting news. I’m still looking for an apartment, but now I have some company to keep me sane while I do so. Uh...” Max blushed a little sheepishly. “That boy I told you about last time? Yeah, we’re finally dating.”
“But enough about me to be honest. What about you? Did you ever end up going on that trip with Mr. Money Bags?”
Avalynn walked out of the room at Max’s she had been staying in. She knocked lightly on her friend’s door. She was so grateful that Maxine had been allowing her to stay with her, she wasn’t sure where she would have been if it hadn’t been for her friend. When she opened the door, she breathed softly, “Max, are you busy?”
@whyhellomaxine
Hearing her name softly called, Max looked up from fixing her Polaroid camera, taking her large headphones off her head as she did so. It was Avalynn, and Max couldn’t help but smile as the blonde poked her head throw her door. Max turned around in her chair to make sure so was facing Avalynn when she spoke to her.
“Hey pretty lady, not at all. It’s good to see you roaming about, to be honest. What’s up?”
Mikhail grinned widely when he heard Max start to sing along with him, and he so badly wanted to just look over at her and watch her lips move, a grin of her own surely plastered upon her features. But, he knew he had time for that in the future. Hopefully. All Mikhail could ask of at Max at this point was just as much of her time as she was willing to give him. Which so far, thankfully, seemed to be quite a fair amount. Max made Mikhail so ridiculously fucking happy, it was kind of unbelievable. No one person had ever made him so full of joy every time he saw them– certainly no friends or family he’d ever had. Mikhail felt his affection for Max growing every day; he felt like he knew her now. After that night in her tree house, he sensed that he broke down some walls. Maybe not the last ones, but certainly some big ones, and Mikhail was honored to just be allowed to be so close to Max; physically, emotionally and mentally. However, he was a bit scared as to however she felt about him. After all, Max hadn’t seen his ugly moments yet. Mikhail felt her squeeze his hand back and smiled to himself, tempted to just keep the back and forth hand squeezing game on, but he knew if he did he might not let go.
Mikhail was contemplating if he should lick Ledi back when he felt Max gently put her hand on the nape of his neck, and he smirked slightly, turning his attention to her. Not a difficult feat at all. He kissed her back softly, even briefly cupping one of her cheeks in his large palm. Mikhail knew that his face probably smelled like dog, but the fact that Max didn’t care (too much) just made him grin into the kiss, tempted to be an ass and just rub his face all over hers, but he refrained. Unlike himself, Max spent some time to look good and Mikhail didn’t want to fuck up any makeup that might be on her face. He beamed at her when she pulled away, always pleased to hear that laugh. He chuckled at Ledi when she leaped into Max’s seat, clearly starved for attention. Mikhail couldn’t help but ‘aww’ lightly when the dog cuddled against her, but then leaned down to get eye level with the pup. “Now listen here, missy,” Mikhail started off sternly, pointing his finger at Ledi. She licked his finger. “We’ve been exclusive for a few weeks now, and you’re not gonna change that. Alright? You’re just a roommate. My roommate. Don’t fuck this up for me.”
Mikhail straightened himself up to tut at Max, shaking his head. However, his lips held a teasing smile. “Come on now, you can’t spoil her! Not yet, anyways. Spoil her after I do, that way she won’t love you more than me,” Mikhail joked as they entered the building, grabbing a large cart. “You wanna put her in here?” He offered before nodding. “Yeah, we should probably get her a collar and leash first. Good idea.”
Tipping her head back with a laugh, Max couldn’t help bite her lip with a soft smile as she watched Mikhail interact with Ledi in her arms. It was...nice to see this side of him. Sure Mikhail was gentle with her, but in a more playful way. He knew that she wasn’t easily broken or not too fragile. When he talked to Ledi though, he was gentle in the way that Ledi seemed to be made of glass. Absentmindedly Max couldn’t help but wonder what he would be like with children. “Hey!” Max said dramatically, as though she was offended. She brought Ledi up close to her chest as they walked between the isles. “Don’t talk about my girlfriend like that!” Kissing Ledi’s head, Max sent Mikhail a playful wink before setting her in the shopping buggy. She sat without complaint, her little legs sticking out of the leg holes made for the children. Max couldn’t help but laugh, nose crinkling with humor as she made Mikhail stop so she could take a picture.
Sighing happily Max continued their walk, hand reaching out idly to look at the abundance of toys and collars and treats. A happy tune was currently being hummed in the back of her throat, before she turned to look at Mikhail with wide, happy eyes. “Can we get her a bandanna for the 4th? Mikhail, that would be so cute.”
@wtvrgreyson
Putting a hand over her mouth in an attempt to stop the giggles, Max then took a deep breath, eyes closing as she waited for Greyson to get closer. Steadying her hand so the video she was taking on her phone wasn’t too shaky, Max opened her eyes once she heard Greyson shuffling closer. She watched the floor for any sign of his feet, laughing softly as Bean zipped past the hallway without even giving her a second look. That meant she was in a good spot to hide. Waiting a few more seconds, Max got ready as she heard Greyson’s usual grumbling, crouching down before popping out at him.
“Gaaaaah!” She screamed loudly, watching as the man stumbled backwards away from her. In seconds Max’s head was tipped back with a laugh, and all she could hope was she got that on camera. “Holy shit, Grey!” She attempted through giggles. “Please tell me I scared you. Please. I’ve been standing her for so long.”
“Depends. Do I get to have some jelly filled donuts?”
“Only if you help me open this jar! If you don’t, then I will literally eat all the jelly filled donuts just to spite you.”
“I appreciate the offer, but right now I only am allowed to get them on weekends so I pretty much clear out my schedule so I can spend the three days with them Hopefully when things settle between my doctor and lawyer I will get them more.” she explained with a smile. “aren’t they getting go big?” she asked her and laughed.” i know, he already is stealing the girl’s hearts.”
“Well then, I might just have to come over so I can play with them. If you’re alright with that, of course. I don’t want to overstay my welcome or anything.” Max laughed softly. “He’s already stolen my heart, that’s for sure. Man, time sure flies. I remember when they were so so small.” Max looked down at the baby boy in her lap. “Have they started walking yet?”
Avalynn was beyond grateful for her friend in this moment. She didn’t want to stay at her apartment she moved into to start her life with Chase, it would just hurt. She glanced over at Maxine, “I think I will take you up on that offer, at least for a little bit. Just until either you find an apartment, or I find a house. I don’t want to overstay, but as long as you are sure about the animals.” She said, glancing at her friend, “This isn’t something I ever thought I’d be going through, Max. This was supposed to be the best year of my life, and I don’t know how to be a spitfire when the best year of my life turned into the scariest year.” She said
She looked down, playing with the ring on her finger, than glanced over at her friend once more, “Do you really think so? That I’ll be a goo mother? I don’t want to be a disappointment to my daughter, specially because shes not going to have a father. Its just going to be – me.”
Max couldn’t help but beam when Avalynn finally agreed to stay at her place. She would be able to check up on her friend--knowing that she would be around--, and it also provided company for the both of them, as it seemed the two of them didn’t want to be alone. “I doubt you could overstay your welcome, but you’re more than welcome to stay as long as you like.” Max reassured her. “Don’t worry about the cats, I would love to see them!” Reaching her arm around Avalynn, Max held her close once more. “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right? It might feel scary for a while, but there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. Cliche statements I know, but it’s true. Trust me.”
“I do think so. In fact, I believe it with all my heart. When she looks at you, she’ll see the strongest woman she’s ever met because you did have to go through the things you’re going through right now. I don’t think she could ever be disappointed in that.”
“Yeah? Oh no, I didn’t think so. I’m sorry that they’re so busy, but hey, on the bright side that just means you get all the more time to spend with yours truly,” Mikhail smiled before making a rather ridiculous expression. It was kind of amazing how his facial muscles could practically melt into his own skin. “Good, lemme know whenever she’s available,” Mikhail’s face returned to normal as he spoke, giving her a small nod.
“Too late,” he shrugged, turning his head briefly to flash Max an innocent grin. Were he not carrying a dog in that moment, Mikhail probably would’ve done something about that delicate little finger pointed his way– like maybe nibble at it a little bit, or something with his tongue. Mikhail managed to pull his mind out of the gutter fairly quick, and briefly allowed himself to imagine what exactly living with Max, or at least being her roommate, would be like. He pictured waking up before her, always. On weekdays before he’d go out for his morning run he’d make a pot of coffee and leave her a cute little note, maybe a joke or something. On weekends he’d do the same, except for going out on a run. Instead, he’d sit at his laptop and quietly play Stardew Valley, just passing the time before Max woke up. With only slight reluctance, Mikhail pulled himself out of the daydream to respond. “Go for it, cats are cool,” he mused before opening the car door for her. He was glad that she didn’t make fun of him for the old thing. People who did have cars in New York had much better ones than his beat up Impala, but he didn’t care.
Mikhail rolled the windows down for all of them and turned the radio on, driving in relative silence. He could just make out the song that played, and he smiled, tapping his fingers to the bass. He heard Ledi panting happily near Max, and as for her, well, he didn’t hear anything out of her. But Mikhail didn’t need to, especially when he felt her fingers against his hand, immediately moving to connect their digits. Mikhail’s free arm was warm on the outer metal of his car, yet cooled whenever he drove enough to get a breeze going. “Everything is fine when your head’s resting next to mine, next to mine,” Mikhail sang along softly, giving Max’s hand a gentle squeeze while he did so. He knew she wasn’t gonna judge him for a bad pitch or unsteady voice– he was comfortable enough around her to do just about anything. Mikhail didn’t mind at all that Max kept letting go whenever he shifted gears- he, he’d be more upset if she didn’t keep connecting their hands, in all honesty. “Aaand we’re here,” Mikhail nodded to the Petco in front of them, quickly finding a parking spot. “You ready, Ledi?” He turned around to the dog only to get his face attacked with licks. “I’ll take that as a yes.”
Biting her lip, Max couldn’t help the smile that crossed her face as Mikhail started singing, her gaze watching the passing cars around them. Mikhail’s fingers were warm as they held her own, and she closed her eyes at his soft voice before tipping her own head back with a laugh, singing along to the music with him. “You’re the fire and the flood, and I always feel you in my blood--” There voices were drown out by laughter and the wind, and as Max watched her free hand float freely out the window against the rushing air, she wasn’t sure if she could ever feel this happy or content again. It had been so long since she smiled the way Mikhail made her smile. It had been so long since she laughed the way Mikhail made her laugh. Max wasn’t exactly sure what she did to deserve such a good person by her side, but goddamn was she lucky. Her gaze flickered from her hand out the window to Mikhail’s soft smile, giving his fingers a soft squeeze. It was like she was overcome with emotion, the kind that made her want to laugh and cry at the same time. All she could think was ‘my love’ and ‘please never leave’ and ‘i want it to be like this forever’.
Arriving at Petco was an excitement and disappointment at the same time. It was a moment Max wanted to live in forever, but the thought of being able to create new moments with Mikhail was even as tempting as staying in the car and driving forever. She laughed softly as Ledi licked Mikhail’s face, before Max herself leaned over and lightly threaded her fingers into the soft hair at the base of his neck. She couldn’t help but kiss him, all Max ever wanted to do these days was kiss Mikhail, and the fact that she actually was able to was icing on the cake. After a few tender moments she pulled away, lip bitten as she dipped her head with a soft laugh before getting out of the car. Ledi jumped into her seat after that, and Max reached out to pick up the dog. She wiggled around in Max’s arms a moment before settling down with a snuggle into her chest, and Max’s heart bloomed with emotion for the small dog. She looked up to give Mikhail a small, yet sincerely happy smile.
“I’m going to spoil the hell out of you.” Max cooed to Ledi as they walked into the cool building. She didn’t want to put Ledi down just yet, especially because they didn’t have a leash nor a collar for her--and Ledi seemed just as content as resting in Max’s arms. “We’re going to get you some toys, and a nice leash. We’ll get you some good puppy food, and some shampoo so I can wash you when you get home. We’re going to take good care of you, don’t you worry.”

“Do you need some help?” Aaliyah asked with a small frown on her face, she wasn’t totally sure how well she could open the jar but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t try. “Just smacking the bottom first then try.”
“Yes!” Max breathed out with irritation, having attempted opening the jar way to many times. At this point, she would take anyone's advice. Doing as Aaliyah told her, Max smacked the bottom of the jar quite forcefully due to annoyance, and when she went to open the jar, the lid popped right off. Her eyes widened with surprise. “Holy shit, I did it! Liyah, you’re a life saver.”
Taylor chuckled and stepped closer to Maxine. “Hey, hey, calm down, hulk. Let me get it.” He said kindly and took the jar from her hands gently and twisted it open. “Just needed an extra pair of hands. You did most the work though.”
“I just might turn into the hulk if I can’t get this open.” Max laughed softly, holding the jar out to Taylor so he could take it from her hands. “I just needed a pair of hands much larger than my own. I swear, they makes these damn things ‘me’ proof so i can never get into them.” She sighed happily when he handed her the open jar. “Finally, all I wanted to do was make us some jelly donuts.”
“Tap it lightly with a knife on the top. That usually works for me.”
Digging through her kitchen drawer for a knife, Max did exactly as Mackenzie told her to do once she found it. Once again she tried the lid, but there was no luck. She let out another side. “Nope, doesn’t seem like it’s going to be budging for me any time soon. Want to get it a go?”
“Do you need a hand with that,” Joey offered, “my mom used to have that problem a lot…”
“Yes please.” Max sighed, holding the jar out to Joey. “Welp, me and your mom are in the same boat, then. I can never get these damn things open. It drives me nuts.”
“No, I’m in fact not cereal.” Finn propped himself up on her counter, watching her struggle. “You’re right, you might be going crazy. It’s fun to watch this occur, actually.”
“Finn, you are the worst.” Max laughed softly, attempting to get the jar open once more. She couldn’t do it, again, so she held it out to her friend with a pout. “Please? This is the only thing that’s standing between us and jelly filled donuts right now.”
