Let’s call this person who is posting the jobs, “The Poster”
They’re asking to pay someone $500 a day for their labor and camera equipment, the equipment alone of which costs $1,500 a day to rent (more with insurance).

The second person here has a point. Nothing will be left of our industry if people continue to take on jobs that actually are running a negative profit business model.

You can’t even rent a comparable camera for less than $600 a day. The Poster is asking for $500 for the camera + labor.
EXHIBIT D: ANOTHER JOB POST BY “THE POSTER”
They’re asking for $150 a day. A typical film shoot is a 12 hour day. That would be $12.50 and below minimum wage.
Second, they’re asking for a COVID19 Compliance Officer. This person is responsible for ensuring proper social distancing, hygiene and safety regulations are strictly followed on set...you know...SO PEOPLE ON TINY INDOOR FILM SETS DON’T GET COVID19, SPREAD IT TO OTHERS, AND EVERYONE DIES.
Seems like an important job that would require skills and education should pay A LEGAL WAGE, no?
EXHIBIT E: SOCIAL MEDIA RESPONSES 1
People confirmed that the role The Poster is hiring needs to be a trained and certified paramedic. Not a wage that anyone with zero experience could take.
THE POSTER then turned off comments for this post, realizing they’re asking for criminal wages and violating several health and safety codes / bylaws in doing so, I presume. Or wanted to stop a social media dumpster fire from blowing up.
EXHIBIT F: DESPITE MANY SAYING HOW THIS POST IS BREAKING REGULATIONS / LAWS, SOMEONE SENT AN EMAIL AND THE POSTER THANKED THEM. AND ALSO, THE POSTER ADMITS THEY HAVE NO IDEA IF A COVID19 OFFICER NEEDS SPECIAL TRAINING.
When a person hiring a job such as a COVID19 safety officer responds to someone asking if you need qualifications for it that “It’s a google question”, why the HELL would you apply to this illegal wage job?
I get it, we’re in a COVID19 world, jobs are scarce.
BUT
A) DO YOU WANT TO BE ON A CRAMPED FILM SET WHILE COVID IS STILL A MAJOR THREAT? Could you afford to pay your rent and expenses if you get COVID19 and have to self isolate for 2 weeks and be without pay? ARE YOU WILLING TO LITERALLY DIE WORKING ON THIS PRODUCTION?
B) Can’t you see how other people are pointing out that what this person is asking is illegal and dangerous?
C) ARE YOU TRULY QUALIFIED TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WELL BEING OF DOZENS OR A HUNDRED CREW MEMBERS? WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE KNOWN AS THE PERSON WHO CAUSED A COVID19 OUTBREAK, PERHAPS KILLING MANY?
EXHIBIT G: The Poster Posted A Few More Jobs, BUT YOU MIGHT NOTICE A DIFFERENCE...
Very interesting. So for combined talent and equipment positions, The Poster is offering $500 a day for what should be $2100 per day. Then they’re asking $150 a day for a COVID19 compliance officer, who should be at least $300 a day.
BUT when it comes to needing a sales agent, The Poster is offering $10,000 a month.
If that doesn’t reek of someone who doesn’t give a single shit about people in the creative fields, their earnings or health and well-being, I don’t know what does.
Do your research, ask good questions, find out if they’re short-changing certain people and then paying other people book rates.
If they are doing so, then you know - they don’t value you or the work you do.
