“No.” Even if she had been one to speak before, centuries of imprisonment had given her little reason to force herself to practice. Besides, why make a sound, when silence had already proven to be all the more unsettling.
The human was not the only one watching, searching for any signs of weakness. Kara did not have any desire to be imprisoned again, and she would do her best to destroy any who sought to contain her.
“Yes.” Even though the woman was not doing anything threatening Kara was cautious, and why wouldn’t she be. She was stuck in a cell, surrounded by crude replicas of the runes that had once bound her. It would take a while to gain enough strength to break out…though a meal would definitely go a long way.
Not that she had starved during the fight, her shadows had recovered every drop of her blood, and a fair bit of the soldiers’, but it was nowhere near enough, not after she had taken so much damage and been starved for so long.
This human seemed more clever than the soldiers that had come to hunt her, enough so that she should probably take care to reveal as little as possible. Still, this situation could be turned to her advantage, especially if she feigned weakness and starvation. Let them underestimate her, then she could kill them all.
“Both,” hopefully they would take that as a sign that she should be fed, especially when she focused on slowing her healing with every wound. Couldn’t they see, she was weakened and starving, and they should feed her…or lower their guard.
“I’ll see what I can arrange. Simply the heart, or shall I have them bring in the entirety of those that are not otherwise salvageable for my purposes?” There was much to learn, and she did not wish to frighten the child entity any more than it had already been disturbed so -- for now, she would cater to it, give it what it wished, so long as it did not conflict with her own interests. So far as she knew, everything in the universe required some form of energy for sustenance and survival. It wouldn’t do to have the entity waste away because she deprived it ... though if the state of the caverns that the entity had been recovered from where any sign, she actually needed very little at all in the way of nourishment.
“We’re all a little happier when we’ve got a full belly, hm?” A small, slightly amused smile. “My name is Melina. You can call me Mel, if you like. And what is your name, little one?” She set aside the files she had been perusing, stepping forward with her hands raised to show that they were empty, carefully approaching to crouch down and retrieve the fragments of metal and bullets that had been discharged from the entity’s flesh. “Are you hurt, still? Is there anything I can be of assistance with?”
