So in older canon, the Green Lantern Ring was unable to directly affect anything yellow. So if they made a giant hand to smash a taxi that wouldn't work, but they could pick up a tree and drop it on the taxi.
This itself isn't a problem and actually makes for interesting narratives and creative problem solving.
Since those times, the rings have undergone a revamp - instead of needing to recharge every 24 hours it functions like everything with a battery, depending on how you use it drains faster and slower. The other change is basically that, to loosely quote Ha, "If you know what you're doing, the ring can effect yellow." Nowadays the yellow weakness rarely-if-ever gets brought up.
Like I said, I actually think the yellow weakness is fun to play around with. But for certain fans - basically always Batman fans - it's the only fact they know about any of the GLs and will use it for a character pissing contest to prove Batman's superiority. The moment you bring up Green Lantern they bring up the yellow weakness - this is especially a problem on YouTube.
And they don't even know it's not really part of the current canon.
They will basically go "Haha your favourite character SUCKS and Batman is so much BETTER he can defeat the entire Justice League with one hand and also treats them all as children and every single one of the Batkids is ALSO more competent than the whole Justice League. I will put posts into the Hal Jordan and Green Lanterns tag where Hal has one single line that makes him look like an idiot, asshole or both! Bruce should explain planes to former Air Force Captain Hal Jordan! I'm so good at this, haha! These posts will make up a good quarter of the Hal Jordan tag because of how massively outnumbered GL fans are! I'm sure glad I don't have to deal with how annoying it is to scroll through people constantly misrepresenting and hating on my favourite character! Haha!"
I think this got away from me.
Just... If you've never consumed a single piece of media that included the Lanterns, just... don't post about them. I don't need you to like them or know about them. Just treat other fans with a modicum of respect and don't talk shit about our favourite characters to their face in that characters tag. (I'm not alone with my frustration, by the way. The vast majority of GL fans absolutely share my frustration.)
Also, to be clear I don't hold a general dislike for fans of the Bats. I actually started out mostly as a Batman fan years ago.
Tldr: GL fans are in the fucking TRENCHES.
