@aj-artjunkyard
you can tell he genuinely thinks he deserves to live
I think there's a great chance the existence of mirrors/reflective surfaces silently fucks Rocky up.
Like, Grace is in the bathroom, shaving, the curtain pulled to the side and suddenly he stops and says "stop touching my stuff". Rocky, frozen, somewhere behind him, can't fathom how Grace sensed that. He was so quiet. The razor is so loud. Grace's still facing away from him. What the fuck.
Grace repairing some panel or other and asks for a tool. Without even turning around, he says "no, not that one, the one to its left". Rocky's like are you shitting me. I know for a fact your hearing is ass. You can only see in one direction and I'm not in it!! What?!
who gives a shit if korra destroyed the world if I can forgive her for dating mako I can forgive her for anything
I just want to read a fic where Hal Jordan is loved and accepted into the justice league and his strengths are paid the respect they deserve
This post made me rewatch Justice League: Doom, the only piece of DC media in the last decade (canon or non-canon) that unquestionably portrays Hal as an equal to the other leaguers.
Text posts part 24!
22 / 23 / 24 / 25
Part 26 :D
24 / 25 / 26
So that trailer huh
if I see any Korra slander on my feed in the year 2026 following the seven havens trailer I’m just gonna assume you’re a sexist and lack media literacy skills because Korra hatred in the big 26 is immature. Hating a masculine queer woman of color at your big age is embarrassing
drew a bunch of crt vox (4 pcs) while i was away!
an interesting thing to mention I noticed is the fact Vox never actually calls it a ‘cult’ and when Valentino (the only person to actually call it that) calls it a cult Vox corrects him by claiming it to be more of a ‘movement’
Honestly very curious what Vox thinks his “movement” was actually about. Like, yeah, it’s a cult of personality where the main point is just “ME! ME!!! ME!!!!!” but what does he think its goal was? He’s had seventy years to reflect; what has he convinced himself his manic ramblings about “the future of entertainment” actually meant? Just Shark Week and shitty advertising practices?
@hypervoxel
Vox, spiraling into madness: I’m a genius. My ideas are too subversive and cutting-edge for the mainstream entertainment industry. In fact, the other CEOs are threatened by them, actually. I should go into hiding so they don’t kill me for being such a bold, risk-taking innovator.
Vox, actually describing his ideas to his followers: sharks are cool and there should be more shows about them
i love how he still made an entire presentation about it though. just 37 slides about how much he'd love to be god.
And then val asks him about the actual plan for taking over all of creation and he's just like "yeah we're gonna wing it dw about it"
The plan to take over Heaven definitely had some holes. But in fairness to Vincent (and at risk of being too serious on what might not have been meant as a serious post):
TV broadcasting in the early 50s was basically just radio with extra steps. A lot of early TV shows were based on radio programs, or even broadcast on both TV and radio, so they relied heavily on audio (like narrators describing what was happening) rather than visuals to tell the story.
TV advertising as we know it began in the 50s.
Color TV was introduced in 1954, but didn't really get its footing until the 60s.
The first 24/7 news network launched in 1980.
Shark Week began in 1988.
Approximately 9% of US households had a TV in 1950. By 1955, almost 65% of households had one. This was literally a new era of entertainment.
Say what you will about his planning, but his ideas were, in fact, an accurate reflection of TV's rapid growth and transformation during this time period. You could do almost anything at this point and it would be novel, because TV programming wasn't clearly defined yet.
anyway extremely specific headcanon hours but I think Vincent should've grown up with a stutter. Like, obviously he kicked it after putting in so much effort that he swung all the way to the opposite extreme of elocution becoming the basis behind his entire skillset, but there will always be that little bit of lingering childhood trauma around trying to speak in public and not being able to. which incidentally makes the muting incident so much worse but nevermind that. he's 100% convinced that the buffering, distorted speech is another of hell's extremely pointed inside jokes—like, oh, he thought he'd grown past that? that he'd never have to worry about getting so worked up he can't get words out again? that's funny. doesn't he know that no one ever really changes?
You know that whole "A Spider-Man that doesn't make jokes is a dangerous Spider-Man" argument? I have something similar for DC.
A silent Hal Jordan is the most lethal one.
He is tired and in pain 99% of the time and he still has it in him to be a little shit, crack a couple of jokes, be as loudly defiant and annoying as he can possibly be, because that's just how he is.
Which is why if you do something and Hal doesn't have anything witty or corny or slightly flirty to say, you better shut up and quietly surrender, or things will get ugly. Like, "Break the no kill rule of the ring trough sheer willpower in order to absolutely disintegrate you from existence" type of ugly.
Because a silent Hal is one bursting with green energy from every pore, one with eyes glowing under the mask and green veins bulging under thin skin, theeth clenched to the point of breaking and blood running down his mouth from how hard he bit his tongue. It's an Hal at the very end of the rope, so full of rightful fury that it strips him of words. It's an Hal waiting for you to give him one last reason, like a predator about to pounce. One wrong step and you'll find yourself with a crater in your chest before you can even breathe.
It's such a rare occurance, to see him like this, because that's what his constant jokes and stupid puns are for, to hide his anger and pain, to keep a grip on them the same way you would keep a dangerous dog on a leash. He has that much control over himself, even if no one else recognize it.
But the moment he stops talking? it's because that control is willingly being thrown out of a window. Years of pent up frustration, anger, helplessness and pain are about to be unleashed through the most powerful weapon in the universe, and no one will survive it.
Beware of a silent Hal Jordan, for that's probably gonna be the last thing you'll ever see.
i may have my father's worst traits but i am more ethical & virtuous with them than him
bruce hates his fucking life because robin, kid flash, and speedy are friends so now he is forced to interact with flash (tolerable) and green arrow (the fucking worst) and then its a decade later and he has to finally acknowledge that he has Parent Friends. They have a fucking Group Chat to discuss logistics. Sometimes green fucking lantern will drop off kid flash at bruces fucking house???? hal jordan????? at his HOME?!?! Ridiculous
@sqoiler they meet in the parking lot of a walmart like divorced parents and hal is like "WHATS UP" and bruce is like do not fucking talk to me and wally does not understand whats happening
@royharper LMAOOO barry already had to deal with ollie because hal decided that ollie was awesome so barry is always stuck third wheeling them and NOW THEYRE KIDS ARE FRIENDS barry spends way more time with ollie off duty than he wants to
Being a Green Lantern fan is truly a liberating experience because some rando can send you a twelve page essay about why your fav is an absolutely horrible character that no one should like and then every single reason they list is why you like them. Yes Jo in Absolute Green Lantern was a shitty partner to her ex??? It’s part of what makes her interesting??? Yes Kyle is genuinely a little stupid sometimes??? It’s funny??? Yes Hal is Hal??? It’s why I’m here??? I never feel scared to say all these guys and gals kinda suck it’s part of the charm. I’ve never heard a single Hal fan not call him a pathetic loser. I’ve never heard anyone say Kyle is a smart guy, creative sure, but he also wrote his own name when signing autographs as Green Lantern. He’s dumb.
Meanwhile you point out a Batman character’s well-thought out character flaw supported by the text and they disembowel you.
