Some due work in progress! Do you ever hold a memory so dear you want to hold it in your hands, carefully, to not break or distort it, and look at it in detail, to finally completely devour it, so it is safe forever?
This idea was the starting point. The setting came later :)
I still sometimes draw things! Here’s some modern!AU of Book 1 Katara. (The theme here will be “what clothes I thought were cool when growing up, approximately”)
A portrait of Will Vandom that I put together recently! It’s colours and touchups added to an older sketch so the pencil lines are still visible in some places. I really like it this way tho!
It’s also slightly darker than I expected, but I guess that’s mostly because it was my first time drawing on my iPad, so the colour behave different than I expect them,
I might as well drop it also here! My art at 14 vs my art at 19 (2011-2016 progress). Side note, 2016 was a year when I fancied going to art university so I pulled all my weight to drawing lessons... It wasn’t enough and I wasn’t accepted to the extra-elitary animation program so I kinda dropped it... after that I still drew for a few more years but currently I’m on indefinite hiatus bc I need to focus on my actual field of study to be able to get my big-girl adult job after I graduate lol. PLEASE CONSIDER REBLOGGING INSTEAD OF LIKING, since it’s the only way for the post to reach a wider audience here on tumbr!
that’s it I’m (mostly) dropping drawing
I was just about to submerge a few days ago into my zutara week entries, when I discovered I lost my drawing tablet pen. Must have fallen out in the train.
Anyway it means I didn’t draw at all in the last few days even though I had time and energy for doing so… and I finally feel like I have so much energy! I have time to focus on other things I love and actually chosen as my career (programming).
It’s more a change of perspective. I’m dropping the infantile dreams of becoming as popular as loish or DestinyBlue or nymre, great amazing artists that I always admired. I’m dropping the expectation to make money out of my art. That was the thing that burned me out the most. Even though I make some decent money from redbubble, I will step back from trying to diversify my income from art. In all these years, I lost one crucial thing - drawing to make myself happy, drawing to preserve what my wild imagination points me to, and was instead focusing too much on drawing things that would make other people interact with my art and enjoy it (but most of the time, they didn’t anyway).
Recently I started doing some fanart of witch and I started thinking of the times when I would make illustrations to my daydreams of unusual things happening, either in my life or “daydreaming” fanfiction instead of writing it. Now I feel like I only draw bland pieces and not really the kind of stuff that actually makes me happy, like drawing self inserts and actually playing with it.
But above all, I feel like I was trying to monetise art for the same reason that so much students want to become teachers - because that is a career that was familar to them. I only tried so hard to make money of my art because I knew all those amazing people that managed that. But in the end, I dropped studying art, and decided to study computer science instead… So I think it’s time to stop distracting myself and actually focus on my studies. My mental health will benefit from it for sure.
I look forward to the day when I finish my studies, get a nice job and will be able to work on my beloved comic again, when I will be truly able to focus on the happiness that telling the story will give me, instead of murdering myself with the struggles of day to day life.

Anyway this is a redraw of Fiendy, the main character of Hidden, a comic I’m very hard working on right now. Some short description of her:
Wendy was a rather calm and reserved teenager, dealing mostly with high school drama. right - was. Everything changed when she woke up one day to discover that... She's dead. Now, during the day she pretends nothing happened, but at night she takes the name of Fiendy and tries to solve the mystery surrounding her death, and a separate rising issue of some souls not moving on to whatever realm they should. Death awakened new powers in her. They're boilt aggression seeping out of her, ready to strike, ready hurt. Can she get those previously surpressed emotions under her control before things get too ugly? If you wanna know more about her and other Hidden Children, you can follow me to get future updates!
