Unforseen Disaster | Gundham & Agnes
It didn’t escape Gundham’s notice that Agnes grabbed nothing more than a chocolate bar. Perhaps she had something of a sweet tooth? Regardless, she seemed very overwhelmed by the sheer size of the item selection in the store, which he couldn’t exactly fault her for. Gundham generally avoided places like this because they always had too many people wandering about for his liking.
He managed to find an open self-checkout station and almost sighed in relief. He began to slip his way through the crowd to get there, quickly wanting to get out. Maybe he should’ve been keeping an eye on Agnes, but by the time he had thought about it, he felt a hand reach out and grab his own. He saw that the hand had belonged to Agnes.
Immediately, the panic began to swell within him. What was she thinking?! Well, he had never told her that touching him would bring certain death upon those who were not strong enough to handle his poisonous body. But wasn’t it sort of obvious that his existence was one filled with catastrophe? Who in their right mind would touch him willingly?
“…” Gundham racked his mind for a few moments, unsure of what to say and also waiting for a reaction from Agnes. She seemed embarrassed at most, but she wasn’t as… dead as he was expecting. “Y-you…” he stammered out, still trying to gather his thoughts as words. “You’re able to withstand being in contact with such a toxic being for such a length of time?!” He was shocked to say the least. “Are your internal organs not ceasing to function?” Maybe she was powerful enough to handle it.
Why was she still holding on? Both of them didn’t seem to know how to react to the situation at hand. If she let go..she’d be swept away again, and she wasn’t willing to do that. However..holding his hand was so embarrassing! And his reaction was certainly not helping her one bit.
“I-I apologize, but I was going to get lost again..” He seemed even more nervous than her for some reason. Was he not fond of physical contact? She couldn’t say that she was herself. but even so, it was for the best. His reaction was troubling. What was he saying? Something toxic? Organs ceasing to function? At this rate, her head was spinning so much from confusion and embarrassment that she was on the verge of collapsing.
“My organs? A-are they supposed to? Oh, I hope they do not..”
