Hi folks. my friend and I just finished watching game of thrones and, as to be expected, we are both down bad for Jon Snow. I wonder if anyone can recommend some of their favorite Jon-focused fanfiction for us. It’s quite overwhelming searching on Google as there’s so many so I wondered what tumblr has to say. Young people need to vote in this election because the future of their ability to live in a democratic republic, to live on a planet that isn’t utterly destroyed by climate catastrophes, to have a right to bodily autonomy, to have a right to not have one group’s religious beliefs imposed on them by the state, to have a right not to go bankrupt with medical bills, to have a right not to fear their children will be killed in school by semiautomatic weapons, and to not spend their old age in poverty depends on it.
Much of the Republican Party wants to turn the U.S. into an an autocratic theocracy where there is one party rule. Many of them have admitted to this--this is NOT fearmongering.
Get out and vote as if your future depends on it--because it does.

Other thing worth noting: many democrats currently in office are from a generation of officeholders where political action and voting were seen as transactional relations between a representative and their constituents. There’s a reason they’ve been doing more progressive shit lately - it is vote buying, and it is testing to see if it gets young people out.
If you like student debt forgiveness, the build back better act, pandemic relief, etc, and getting back into the Paris accords and want more of that, they will see a big turnout that gives them an electoral curbstomp victory against the republicans as evidence that they should do more of that - because clearly, it gets them more votes. On the other hand, if republicans shred them in this election because the young do not come out, the analysis will be “young people do not actually care about politics and cannot be compelled to care, and are thus not a constituency worth attempting to curry favor with.”
One of the most effective things you can do for more left wing policies right now is actually voting because of that understanding of political power relationships.
