I love the gods. I love the gods so much. I love how they can interact with us in different ways. I love how different they are. I love how we can have shared experiences with deities. Or experiences that are different but still are them. I am so happy I began worshipping these deities.

Let yourself be cringe in your worship!!!

The Gods don’t find you embarrassing. The Gods don’t care about seeming cool and professional for the approval of others.

Make that fucking aesthetic photo collage for Aphrodite with cute pics you found on Pinterest .

Dress up like Hermes and go for a damn walk.

Collect random stones you think are cool and put them on your altar.

Put that photo of that cartoon character that reminds you of your deity on your altar.

Make that Minecraft temple to Hekate, domesticate those damn Minecraft wolves for Cerberus.

Make your deities in the sims!

Write soppy melodramatic poetry for Dionysus that no one else will read.

Make self insert fanfics about your favourite Gods and write them all as your best friends. Let them interact with your edgy ocs.

Create an AU where you and your Gods are all characters from your favourite anime.

Record silly little songs for them

Make them paintings that are full of clashing colors and weird forms.

Draw them a fursona

Wear that bright yellow outfit for Apollon.

Put on a dramatic makeup look for Aphrodite.

Call your closest deity that silly little nickname you have for them and let them call you one too.

Share your special interests with your Gods. Design your God as a pokémon or a crystal gem, or a sonic character.

Those losers that try to make you feel bad for being passionate will never have what you have.

What Is A Deity Journal?

A deity journal is a journal dedicated to a deity. It’s filled with information, offerings, devotional pieces, etc. If you like journaling or can’t give other physical offerings (like food, libations, etc.), it’s one of the best offerings out there.

What Do I Use For It?

Usually deity journals are physical journals and notebooks. Binders and folders work as well. I have seen deity journals online, using things like Notion or Google Docs. Those are a little harder to format, but are great if you don’t have a notebook or aren’t a fan of physical journals.

I wanted to do a deity devotion challenge, but the two that I found didn’t quite resonate with me so I made my own! Feel free to use, I will be working through it with Hermes for my first fo round!

15 Day Deity Devotion Questions and Challenges

Day 1- Do you have a favorite prayer? When do you pray to your deity?

Challenge: Write a prayer

Day 2- Who reached out to who? When did you first make contact with your deity?

Challenge: Reflect and journal about where you were when initially connected, and now.

Day 3- What are you favorite songs that remind you of your deity? Why? Are there certain lines you resonate with?

Challenge: Make/add to a playlist for your deity

Day 4- What is your favorite moment with your deity?

Challenge: Reflect: How did that moment bring you closer?

Day 5- What are UPG symbols you have for your deity?

Challenge: Craft one of the deity’s symbols

Day 6- How do you feel about pop culture depictions of your deity?

Challenge: Find a depiction you were previously unfamiliar with

Day 7- How does your experience differ from pop culture depiction/other worshippers?

Challenge: Open up about your experience with someone

Day 8- What’s the most valuable lesson your deity has taught you?

paganism pro tip: don't have, or want, a date for valentines day? ask aphrodite to be your valentine! honor her by making it a day of devotion and self love. get yourself your favorite chocolates and treats, and set some aside for aphrodite. grab a bathbomb or some bubble bath, and take a long warm bath as a devotional act. make some valentines inspired arts and crafts, and put them on your altar. wind down by watching your favorite romcoms, no matter how outdated and campy they are (or whatever genre you like, if romance isn't your thing!)

Death has always been an end to us humans. So much so that most religions explained it in their own specific way. Making art, writing stories, poems, beautifying this fact of life to make it less scary. Christianity especially, treating it as a new beginning, a way to get closer to their god. You do not actually die you just live elsewhere, with him. It's so poetic to me, how much we fear death as humans even if it surrounds us and watches our every move. Not in some eerie way, but in a calm and peaceful way. In the way clementines rot under their trees when they are not picked at their prime. Death was feared, a villain in most our stories.

I don't worship Lord Thanatos, but I can't help but be in awe at his history. We have feared him for so long, even if he is all around us, at all times. We've tried to push him away but he never left. Death is a protector in a way. Arms that greet us at our loneliest moments.

I don't know. This might sound pessimistic or negative but trust me I'm just emotional in Christian Medieval Archeology class. I love Lord Thanatos so much AAAAAAA I have so many more thoughts about him but I'm in the middle of class still :(

If you are a pagan devoted to a deity, please live.

Continue writing about them, please keep saying their names. Please keep worshiping them. If you can’t find the strength within yourself to live for yourself, please try to live for them.

I know it’s getting scary. I think it’s going to get scarier. But please, if nothing else. Live.

Thousands of years, hundreds of genocides and crusades and decimation of culture, and yet somehow my Lords still have followers. Somehow I’ve found them. Somehow these names still have meaning. Through all of us they still remain.

Despite the efforts of centuries of suppression and control, My Lord is still alive, because I am alive.

In our fringe little cults, even when we must whisper because we cannot scream.

and maybe one day we’ll be free to frolic in fields or dance in forests while we chant without fear.

Happy Imbolc, everyone!

Happy Imbolc, to all the Pagans; Wiccans and Witches: Than this time of purification and new begginings, prepares you for the blessings than awaits you this year!

Today (February 2nd, northern hemisphere) is Imbolc! (sometimes spelled Imbolg) This is a pagan holiday that's one of the 8 sabbats or the wheel of the year. 

Not all pagans celebrate wheel of the year holidays, but many do. Including me! 

Imbolc is often associated with the goddess Brigid (often spelled a couple different ways). Sometimes it's called Brigid's Day because it's a day of worshiping her. 

Brigid also later became known as St. Brigid in Ireland because when Ireland was being converted to christianity, they allowed celts to continue worshiping Brigid. However she was later expunged from the Vatican, presumably for being pagan in origin. 

Her official feast fell on February 1st, which in some places is Imbolc. Typically Imbolc is either on the 1st or 2nd. 

So yeah, yet another example of christians stealing from pagans! Woo! (sarcastic) 

However for some, Brigid isn't a part of their Imbolc celebration. It also marks the halfway point between the winter solstice (Yule) and the vernal equinox (Ostara), which makes it a good time to celebrate the coming of spring! 

Many of these practices inspired the modern day Groundhog Day! That's not one but two holidays stolen from inspired by Imbolc! And people talk about Yule! 

Imbolc gets much less credit than Yule, no clue why. Maybe because people think December is just general holiday season and obviously religions don't have any holidays that aren't in December. I don't know. 

But yeah wish your pagan wheel-of-the-year-celebrating friends a blessed Imbolc!

Happy Friday!

Friday is Aphrodite’s day every week and I like to honor Her by writing a little prayer. Today’s topic is self-care when it’s hard. I chose this because as someone with depression who is also a major people pleaser, it’s very hard for me to put myself first or care about myself at all, and I know I’m mot the only one who struggles with that.

Note: I do not write prayers often but am practicing, so this may not be good. Sorry!

Loving Goddess Aphrodite

Of the sea (Pontia)

Of the sky (Ourania)

Of the dark (Melainis)

I ask you to please help me with this request.

She who rules over love of all forms,

Assist me in caring for myself.

Help me to see me the way you do

Beautiful, Loving, and Human
