Arthur Draws Excalibur for the First Time, Arthur Rackham
The Vampire Lestat 3.01
The thing I dislike about alt histories where real life monarchs have been made both gay and unproblematic is that it seems to imply that gay monarchs have not existed in history but if they did they would be cool. Which isn’t true. They have existed and they were just as bad as straight people. And I think it is disrespectful to real queer history to pretend that queer people have never been absolute bastards

so sorry to everyone who hated that but I liked it very much. Lestat lestat lestat lestat (is surprisingly polite and I laughed every time).
I want to ramble
everyone with any knowledge of the books has to be thinking bodyswap, but it feels like a misdirect. I'm not committed to this opinion and I hate when writers try to subvert audience expectations for no reasons except that they think surprises are fun, so I'm happy enough to wait and see how it plays out.
Sam Reid is so, so good at being a rockstar. Just phenomenal. If nothing else Rockstar Lestat will be a hit in the Press household forever.
I like the rapid fire narration and I like Lestat's relentless pursuit of whatever vampires have instead of dopamine. Feels right, feels true, fun to watch.
I thought the staccato flashbacks were very fun. Every time Nicki or Claudia shows up I'm yelling. This is admittedly more about me being an easy mark than anything else.
I loved everything about how Lestat responded to Gabriella but it was also kind of brutal and I think a whole season of it is going to wear on me personally. The way he performs (vamps) for her echoing his performance on stage is so fucking sad. he's so good at making himself entertaining and attractive and I think in the show that's going to be an explicit outgrowth of trying to win her attention and affection.
I like Lestat so much in general. His hedonism and bratting being shot through with sardonic courtesy and occasional moments of real vulnerability is so, so cute. I think thank you for your feedback was my favourite line of the episode and that's entirely because Sam Reid is a generational talent grown in a laboratory specifically to play Lestat. None of this would be working at all without him.
I know this is Lestat's introspective retrospective, but I still thought his commentary on the nervous breakdown letting his muses loose was a little pat and on the nose. Let the tale seduce me!
DEE PHARMA!!! The standout side character for me. I was happy every time I saw her onscreen, I loved her affirmations, her chemistry with both Lestat and Daniel was lovely, and I just generally like the actress. More Dee Pharma please. I am investing early in Dee Pharma stocks. If anything happens to Dee Pharma that isn't being turned into a vampire so I can permanently enjoy Dee Pharma I'm going to be furious.
The Danstat dynamic so far is kind of adorable. the disrespectfully referencing each other's trauma they are trying to avoid brothers.
Louis!!!! Told Daniel Lestat was a stutterer and once again I'm thinking these people should maybe not date. I do really love all the little references to his stutter they put into the first two seasons. I wish they'd given him scars in the reunion scene! I'm pretty sure there was enough robe cleavage for that.
I love the tour bus, especially the piano. Fun throughline between that and the music boxes, I really like Lestat being fascinated with the intersection of music and technology.
Nobody say shit about my beloved girlfriend, who is perfect and has never done anything wrong in her life. okay with that out of the way she was so happy Louis wasn't there. she really came to hate him over the course of season two and I'm so sad about it! I thought maybe she'd forgive him over the break, but no. Claudia kind of won her over with the lesbianism, at least. Armand is her favourite, which tbh isn't saying much. she likes Lestat well enough, and she does not give a single fuck about Daniel. She thinks Dee is pretty and cool and needs to secure a promotion far away from all these people. I think she's going to be cheering for Akasha to kill everyone. She likes this season so far because she enjoys chaos and is excited for the characters to suffer and maybe die.

Just felt such a powerful wave of affection for Andy Bell. And the other Andy Bell.
be who you are. but be it on the other side of the moon. or kill yourself/be all the beautiful things you are, and be them without apology. for all eternity.
Lestat is such a honey he's so consistent about encouraging the people who love him to be themselves.
honestly this is the most sure fire way to make me obsessed with showmand. My secondleaditis is legendary and I love a pathetic little weirdo.
[recentering my expectations] when you think about it telling Armand to go away or kill himself is #kind in comparison to trying to decapitate him and then burn his head and body on separate continents.
A king upon his throne
gritting my teeth as I save space for the show to do its own thing and enjoy it for what it is but whyyy is one of their guiding adaptation principles so consistently "the exact opposite of what happened in the book goes down" and why is that happening here, in relation to Lestat and Gabi who I love. At this point I feel like they're setting Gabi up as essentially an Akasha parallel so they can go Gabi/Akasha, Louis/Nicki, and maybe the Marquis/Magnus (or maybe even just Lestat/Magnus.) and demonstrate how Lestat is just trapped in the same cycle forever and ever.
But often, Gabriella feels like a stand-in for the persistent shame that Lestat carries and his struggle with feeling worthy of love. She’s used almost metaphorically like the weight on his back, the idea he has in his mind that to be loved he must endure whatever version of it he’s been given by who’s willing to give it to him, with exception to Armand. His love Lestat categorically rejects.
The tenderness Showmand's Eponine meets Wile E. Coyote by way of Jason from Friday the 13th antics inspire within me is real even if I want him dead half the time and think the writers need to commit to giving him a legible inner life the other half. remember when he mixed in Fred Stein's photos in with Louis'. Absolute own goal. He didn't have to do any of that.
Whenever I mail out papercraft, I draw a little doodle on the outside of the envelope. I thought this envelope doodle of JC and WWX turned out extra cute, so I decided to color it! Yunmeng Shuangjie!!
THE VAMPIRE LESTAT Live at the Beacon Theater (06.02.2026)
I'm not even going to post concert clips but Sam Reid if nothing else I know you're going to be so much fun to watch.
From a doylist perspective no matter what I will be a Gabbi apologist but the rumours of how they've chosen to adapt her make me sad. That's not my vampire of indeterminate gender.
Hollywood News coming in hot with the spoilers! Good job.
