My art will be tagged with:
#my art
I post a lot about my favorite media! Right now that's going to be a lot of Hollow Knight/Silksong, RDR, Ultrakill, Spider-man, etc. If you’re looking for fanart for a specific franchise, I try to tag it as follows:
#fanart / (name of franchise)
This is in my bio too but on instagram I'm @/rain_upon_glass. Posts will probably be watermarked with that handle. I tend to only put more polished work on there and it's the only other place I post lol
I've had people ask me to use my art as profile pictures/banners before and I think it's awesome. Feel free to do that if you want--just give credit!
I don't often check DMs so apologies if I miss something. "He" is fine but refer to me however honestly
Most recent art fight attack on @/circuitbird’s incredible character! Got tired of drawing faces so I chose to render 20 hands instead. Sure man why not
(Alt + more details under cut. I recommend clicking on it to see the texture without compression!)
Finally got around to drawing something finalized post-Fraud. Gabriel haunting the narrative since his last appearance has been so interesting especially given the introduction of the Powers... that layer was insane man this game is so cool
What if the mystery man/"Gaster" appeared like a corrupted SNES asset? These corruptions happen as a result of "garbage data" being processed, after all.... sounds a little familiar
Been thinking about Dr. "aura farmer" Gaster recently and how he might actually look if he DID make a physical appearance because there's no way he'd just show up in-game with a normal ass character sprite. I'm not a deltarune or Gaster expert but there are some ramblings about him below the cut lol
[NOTE: this is just me typing nonsense into my notes app the other day based on light research. I'm not super dedicated to this fanbase and am not an expert on SNES corruptions so please cut me some slack if any of this is somehow inaccurate lmao]
Some of Toby Fox's greatest inspirations come from the SNES era of consoles (+ games that imitate this style). In reference to this console, “garbage data” is a way of referring to obsolete data or uninitialized memory. Corruptions result from the processor reading data not intended for use.
Empty space in the console’s RAM may be filled with “garbage data” because the SNES lacks an automatic memory-clearing system. This can cause unpredictable and unsettling effects like visual/audio glitches and game crashes. Text scrambling, misplaced graphics, and incorrect audio playback are all possible here. The audio chip on these consoles has its own RAM, but if corrupted/“garbage” data is written in, bizarre sounds, distortion, or static can result.
What’s the garbled distorted sound associated with Gaster called? “Garbage noise.” It sounds exactly like what it is. A jumbled mess of audio data that isn’t being conveyed properly. Possibly an attempt at speech that can’t be completed.
Where do we get much of his story from? Obscured or edited code. Inexplicably monochrome sprites with strange alterations to their design that look out of place, appearing at first to be some sort of glitch. Randomized events that don’t feel as if they were supposed to be seen.
What happens when you type his name into a text entry box? The game crashes.
All of these references to him seem to deliberately evoke the feeling of an error in data processing. There’s an intentional sense that anything Gaster related is obscured—locked behind "unused" code or events we “weren’t supposed to see." In-universe, his existence has largely been erased. In the eyes of the narrative, Gaster himself has been discarded. Much of his existence manifests similarly to data that wasn’t supposed to be rendered.
He’s scattered and forgotten, left as an abstraction of garbage data. Only when something goes wrong can you see what’s left of him.
Happy art fight! OC post 1 of 2 with just the humans I have this year. They’re all weird and live surrounded by a forest with a bunch of dubious creatures in it
(Username is @/rain_upon_glass on there. I’ll do my best to revenge any attacks I get 🫡)
Old grim reaper concept based on a black vulture. Vultures are a very natural form for a grim reaper to assume I think.. creature that aids in the necessary cycle of life who is feared and detested but still beautiful in its own way. You get it
Been trying to practice drawing nuanced expressions and I recruited my friend who’s locked into The Passenger to help me out by providing some references of Kyle Gallner as Benson. That movie is so full of great expressions lol
Old Ethan sketches. This guy has been my favorite RE protagonist for years he’s just so good at surviving the inexplicable with genuinely 0 responsibility to be there
I didn’t have time to participate in most of the prompts this month but the one that fell on my birthday happened to be awesome so I wanted to at least do this one lol. I love using charcoal for hollow knight stuff it feels very suitable for it
“Thing that could’ve been one of your favorite pieces of media of all time had it just not been bungled in some crucial way” is maybe the most frustrating categorization for anything to fall into. Thinking about this on the anniversary of Detroit become human for no reason in particular. I fear David Cage is really not doing much for the already dubious reputation of French people
Old Connor doodle in the big ‘26 💔 I have some very conflicted opinions on this game but like everyone else I always wished we got to see Connor grapple with his humanity more. What do you mean it’s been out for eight years today bruh
