Nature⦠The outdoors⦠As beautiful as a lovely scenery of towering, green trees and blooming flowers was, it wasnāt quite so enjoyable when one happened to be lost. Not to mention the various insects and mysterious noises that were heard all throughout the forest only unsettled the Madame de Pompadour that much further. Ā She carefully stepped on the soft grass and bulking roots of trees, making certain not to step on the lovely flowers around her feet. Oh, but how terrible it was to be lost in a place like this! The Madame could only hope that her favorite dress and makeup wouldnāt be ruined in any way. What a tragedy that would be, indeed!
āSo filthy⦠I never would have expected a forest to actually look likeĀ thisĀ when one traveled further into it⦠And just where could the exit be?ā The Marquise complained and complained, red-painted lips pursing themselves after her words. Her steps continued, and the Madame was almost certain that she would have tripped and fell if she hadnāt noticed that well-hidden tree root that snaked its way along the ground. Quite the close-callā¦Ā
The more she went onward, attempting to search for the way out and secretly finding a sense of mystery as she continued, the Madame then stopped to take what was most likely her fourth rest. There was a small patch of flowers several paces ahead with a fine ray of sunlight that peered through the trees shining wonderfully on it. It looked like the perfect sanctuary for the Marquise, much better than her previous stops!
āI suppose this really is my faultā¦ā She sighed as she knelt gracefully in the flower patch. āI was so furious about being surrounded by all of these accursed and new wonders all around me, that I thought fleeing into this forest would help to clear my mind. But, this is nothing like the gardens in the Palace, is it not?ā Yet another sigh escaped the melodramatic Madameās breath.
While she remained silent, feeling the soft flower petals with her fingers, a tear was suddenly felt streaming down her cheek. Was she really crying? It really did feel like almost an eternity since the Madame last remembered feeling the touch of a flowerās petals and the pleasing warmth of the sunās rays. How long had she been absent from the living world, she wondered. But she couldnāt have tears right now, not in a lovely spot like this! A handkerchief was revealed from a part of the Marquiseās dress, and the single tear was soon wiped off of her cheek. Nonexistent. And how fortunate she was to have gotten rid of that tear so quickly, as the Madame had suddenly heard the sound of footsteps - gentle footsteps - nearing her. The Madame de Pompadourās eyes focused on the direction of the sound, and a young lady in white was seen in the near-distance, strolling along through the forest with a great look of curiosity and wonder as her expression.
How relieved the Marquise felt, seeing a young lady such as the one just now. She was a noble, wasnāt she? Ah, she had that look of a noble, did she not? They always did have that tendency to attract one another, yes? Not to mention, this young lady would be the Madameās first female contact since arriving to⦠wherever she had arrived to. Placing her handkerchief back in her dress, the Madame waved a hand out to the young lady, beckoning to her in as pleasing as a tone as she could manage. āAh, mademoiselle! Good morning to you! Would you care to join me? Itās honestly quite lonely being here by myself.ā With any trace of luck, the Madame de Pompadour prayed that the young lady would possibly recognize her, not that the Marquise had any idea of who the young lady herself wasā¦
