Hey hey, as a librarian, can I just say don’t pace yourself at the library. I get a lot of customers saying “oh I shouldn’t get too many books out at once” but like you should!!!! Max out your card, take everything we have on a subject you’re interested in, make a book fort in your home. We love that shit! It doesn’t matter if you read them or not; just take them for an adventure and bring them back whenever they’re due!

For public libraries, one of the ways we secure funding year to year is lending. Governments don’t want to fund more books if they’re not being used and the way we measure use is by issues. Regardless of whether you read it or not, whether you have it for a day or a month, if you issue it to your library card, we get the stats! It makes the library look good!

Help your local library; get books out even if you know you can’t read them all!

is anyone else annoyed that "ai" encompasses both chatgpt and tools we train to do repetitive tedious work for us. and by the ripple effect of articles like "scientists develop ai to detect cancer early" that make people argue for the merit of chatgpt or become anti-medicine. and by the general state of the world and society

After about 5 years of playing Stardust, I've taken some lessons about what the game needs, so We Have A Problem is focussed primarily around modulating the difficulty curve of the game. New objectives and Faults add new and varied challenges, and Lifelines take the edge off runaway disasters.

This has been my main argument against "AI" from the very beginning.

OpenAI scraped the entire web. All of which had been a labor of love from humans. Wikipedia is the backbone of a lot of LLMs, and that was volunteer human labor. They stole it and now they're selling it back to us.

And worse, they're trying to destroy the free sources that they stole from. It's destruction of human knowledge on an unprecedented scale. The burning of the library of Alexandria has nothing on this.

Fun fact: Wing Song was a pony that was exclusive to the toys of G1-G3, but never appeared in G4 or G5. These are the 3 versions of Wing Song that I used for reference in coming up with her design for my blog. (The quality is shit because I just used Google Images) In the blog she exists in G4, and her blog takes place vaguely after the S9 finale. Her mane is a mix of her G1 and G3 mane colors, her coat is her G1 color, and her eyes are her G2 coat color. (Her mane style wasn't given too much thought as to why I chose it, it's just how I drew it)
