PROJECT WEEK - IDEAL HUSBAND

Had to bump in and crew for a production called “Ideal Husband” which took place in the cube. Hang, Khoi and Douglas were together with me for this. First production I’ve worked on this semester and hopefully the last. These things can get pretty tiring.

The sound designer for this production was Choi Seong Bum, I believe he came back from serving national service to finish up his degree. Needless to say he was extremely rusty and forgot most of the terminology used in audio. The technical officers basically held his hand for this show, helping us with identifying what cables we needed and whatnot. This was pretty educational for me too. I was taught how to rig lights and speakers safely. Had some fun climbing up the scaffoldings.

Thankfully the sound system wasn’t too complicated and only consisted of only a couple of speakers and subs. An iMac and a motu, I believe were used alongside the speakers. Setup was pretty fast and easy we finished the entire sound bump in after two days. Sound Designer told me I didn’t need to come back till bump out as I was not the sound operator and there was no live band, just playback and cues.

Bump out was a breeze, sound finished in about an hour or less. I stuck around to help out the techies and make some friends.

All in all it was a pretty fun and educational experience.

WHOOPS - 404 BOOTS NOT FOUND

So for the second LTC I was not allowed to participate as I still did not have my steel cap boots. Douglas and I plus all the level threes sat this one out. Will get around to buying them when I know where to get a good pair.

i put “All I Want for Christmas is You” through a MIDI converter, and then back through an mp3 converter

I’m driving myself up the wall because I swear I can hear the vocal line but I don’t know how that could be if it was truly converted to MIDI. Unless you can replicate speech sounds entirely with modulated MIDI notes, in which case I’m actually impressed with this tire fire of an MP3.
