introducing: The Long Wives

The Long Wives is the project of LA-songstress Brandy St. John, a singer-songwriter that’s been uploading gems to her soundcloud for the past year. You can file her along next to other gifted folkstresses like Angel Olsen and Marissa Nadler, with her ghostly, shimmering voice singing “songs about death and love, and the death of love.”

For her proper debut single she spent time in the studio with Nick Zinner and Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, who produced both a-side Dark Horse and b-side La Vengenista. We’ve highlighted some of her best work below, but there’s more beauty to be found over at her Soundcloud.

This is the kind of music you cry to - because it’s so touching, so beautiful, so perfect. It’s just so much more than a woman and her guitar - The Long Wives creates a world in which emotion reigns, a world in which tears are as important as smiles.
