💡📵 Activities you can do if you're sick of being glued to your phone all the time

Level: easy

Social energy: low to none

1. Read a physical book from your TBR pile

2. Visit your local library and pick a non-fiction book from an area that interests you

3. Visit your local library and pick a completely random fiction book

4. Find out if there are any public bookshelves in your town, take a book and leave one of your own there (maybe even add a little note for the next reader)

5. Do a jigsaw puzzle

6. Crochet something or learn how to do that (e.g. a plushie, a key chain, or a coaster)

7. Knit something or learn how to do that (e.g. a scarf, a blanket, or a hat)

8. Buy a brain games book (e.g. crosswords, sudokus, logic puzzles) and start solving

9. Start a physical movie/tv show collection

10. Visit a local thrift shop and buy something (e.g. clothes, books, CDs, DVDs)

11. Go swimming

12. Get a cute notepad and some pigment liners and doodle whenever you feel the urge to look at your phone without reason

13. Draw something (embrace the ugly)

14. Go for a walk and do some bird watching (you may carry your phone to find out what kind of birds you're watching)

15. Go to the toilet without carrying your phone with you

Note: These are just some of my personal ideas. Saying they are easy to do and don't require much social energy is also my personal assessment. I know that for some people some of these ideas might be very difficult for all kinds of reasons.

This Boy...Wants You Back Again...

Morgyn X Jasper pining warm up inspired by a song I was listening to. This takes place somewhere further in canon, so just enjoy the drabble!

Log Date...

fuck it, the date doesn't matter

He's been warming up to the staff slowly but surely. He's not as biting and standoffish as he used to be. I saw him having a friendly conversation with one of the interns this morning, he seems to be coming around.

And it worries me.

The intern himself was roughly the same age as him. Tall, handsome, bubbly and sweet just like him. They were talking about some show that I wouldn't know about. Jasper was laughing.

And I hate how much I love that laugh.

Our relationship is strictly professional, and that is how it should stay. Granted, our relationship definitely pushes the bounds of a healthy artist/agent relationship, but Jasper was a special case. I was so sure, so careful, I was certain nothing would come of it. I promised Victoria it wouldn't turn into anything.

And yet, my feelings still keep growing more and more unprofessional by the day.

I hope nobody will notice. I try to keep it in check myself, but I can't help but watch as he grows into this...unstoppable force of sorts. He's more confident in his own abilities. I watched as he worked with one of our producers today, and he kept pushing back on changes he didn't approve of. He wouldn't have ever considered something like that a month ago.

I'm so proud of him.

And I hate how much I want to keep him here.

He'll grow out of me. They all do. I'm just a stepping stone towards a more successful career, I always have been. I haven't had an issue with it until now. Not since him.

He'll move on, find his own footing. He's still young enough to grow into something extraordinary, truly make a proper place in this world. He's barely coming into his twenties. He wouldn't want to spend much time with a tired old man like myself. I'm pushing forty-five. I'm lucky I only have a few silver strands, unlike my colleagues.

I know damn well that I should not be looking at him the way I do.

It's so selfish, so cruel. I love how he looks to me for guidance, how I'm the first one he looks for when he's overwhelmed in a crowd. Granted, it's only because he's new to the industry and more skittish than most artists I've worked with in the past. He'll develop his confidence in time.

And there's this dark, fucked up part of me that dreads that day more than anything.

This might be the scotch talking. I've never held my liquor well during periods of high stress, and the label has been pushing for this EP for weeks. He's asleep now, I should probably make sure he's stable.

After years of not feeling anything like this, of course he is the one that wakes that beast back up.

Life always throws you a curveball at the worst possible moments, doesn't it?

I LOVE THIS. SO MUUUUUCH. OH my gooodddddddddddddddddddddddddddd. SCREAMING over THIS DIAHDJWJDD.

I'm always such a sucker for the trope of someone believing the person of their affections deserves better.

Morgyn being soooo embarrassed and ashamed that's he's Jasper's senior, his agent, someone who is supposed to be professional whilst carrying these feelings is making me lose my mind.

He doesn't even fully believe or convince himself it could work out logistically if it came to it either. Their differences in ages, Jasper's vitality and youth, his fear of being discarded and Jasper inevitably growing past him or just not being enough in some way. UGHHHH. It captures such a unique kind of agony.

I can envision him on that "dreaded day" drinking at the bar, seeing Jasper ascend beyond visions imaginable on a TV... having an episode in front of everyone as a point of breakdown. Just him finally giving in and sobbing. Bonus points if somehow Jasper witnesses that. 😭

Pining is one of my favorite things to write because FUCK, it hurts so so so good. Especially when it’s an older man pining after a younger man despite KNOWING that he’s much too old

Another public service announcement. This time it’s air quality. Some of you are probably in it already if you’re in eastern Canada, New England or New York, but it’s sliding south, a huge mass of wildfire smoke. Please be careful. When it starts getting bad, especially, like when the sky gets orange or brownish, it’s best to run air purifiers in the house and wear N95 or KN95 masks when you have to go outside.

It harms your lungs and it’s especially bad for children (and pets!) or anyone with health problems. There are all kinds of chemicals in that smoke. It’s not only trees that are burning. The heat already makes it harder to breath. This makes it worse.

If any of you are experiencing it, feel free to tell about it in the comments. 💚

Also, throw out the mask every day and shower before you get in bed if you’ve been out or you’ll be breathing the particles all night. Stuff like that. It gets all over you, your skin, your hair, your clothes.
