Young Adult Fantasy

Ellowen Valos is the chosen one. To be sacrificed.

Locked in a tomb awaiting her own death, Ellowen is spared by one of the Gods. But salvation comes with a price.  In order to reunite with her family and stop future sacrifices, Ellowen agrees to steal a mysterious artifact from the God of the Underworld. Trapped in a realm of powerful deities with ulterior motives, she discovers the Gods are quite unlike their depictions in ancient texts, and just as flawed as their mortal counterparts. Ellowen must learn who to trust before one God’s agenda destroys her homeland and everyone she loves along with it. 

Inspired by Greek and Egyptian mythology, and the legend of Atlantis, OF BONES AND STARLIGHT is a dark YA fantasy, complete at 73,000 words.

As cheesy as it may sound, I got the idea for this story from two separate dreams that I couldn’t shake, so I decided to make it my 2016 NaNoWriMo project. This will be my first time submitting to Pitch Wars, and I have spent the last seven months editing and revising my WIP in preparation. I know it still has a long way to go, but I am hoping to find a mentor who can help transform my MS into something magical. Also, I could really use a writerly BFF who understands the struggle ;P

About Me:

I’m a grocery store clerk and sign artist by day, and a writer by night (that's right, I never sleep :p). If I’m not reading or writing in my free time, I’m probably in a car road trippin’ it across the U.S. I don’t always watch T.V., but when I do, I binge on Netflix.

Bloody Nightmare

Sooo...had this HORRIBLE nightmare last night that I was at Trader Joe's grocery shopping with my mom, and we're at the demo station tasting the samples when my mom looks over at me and gets this really concerned look and goes, "Your nose is bleeding." I happen to lol down and there's a couple drops on my white shirt and the floor, and I'm just like, "Crap." So I reach over for a napkin and then my nose starts GUSHING blood and literally, like, CHUNKS of cartilage or brain matter start coming out with it and I can just FEEL it as it's coming out and so I grab a but load of napkins and just press it to my face and we go to check out with what few groceries we had collected. Meanwhile my co-workers are like "Daayuum, you okay?" And I say, "Yeah, I'm fine. It's just a bloody no--" and I don't get to finish my sentence because then I just start throwing up blood, blood I can actually taste and the irony-acidic aftertaste makes me throw up more. At least a liter-sized pool of blood is at my feet and the people around us in line start putting a good distance between us. One of my co-workers says, " I'm calling 9-1-1" and clearly my judgement is impaired cause I say, "Oh, no, it's fine. I'm fine. I'll just go home and sleep it off--" as I throw up more blood. And then I get light headed and start having tunnel vision, and then I say, "Hmm, you know, I don't feel so good. I think I might be hemorrhaging..." And then I black out and wake up at 5am in a cold sweat, feeling nauseous. So, as my brother's getting ready for work, I'm telling him about this dream, and in the middle of conversation I throw up (bloodless, thank god), and he just gapes at me and goes, "You're nasty." Ha. Seriously though, Nightmare, did not like :/
