Wish I Was Reading

On a huge supernatural kick (for a year) and found CasxBones and love it. However, I have never really watched Star Trek TOS…

This is my take on how Cas and Bones meet (characters are ooc):

Bones POV

On board the ship Enterprise:

“Bones! We got a problem!” Captian James Kirk yells through the intercom to medbay.

Bones rushes over to the intercom, “what seems to be the issue Jim?”

“I’m sending Spock down with a body that just appeared in the bridge, made eye contact with me, and then passed out. I have no clue how he got here, but he’s roughed up pretty bad.”

“Got it.” Just then the door opens and Spock brings the man in. The man is wearing a long tan trench coat with a suit underneath. Everything is covered in blood, his shirt is torn open at the top, and half of his face is swollen. He has open wounds on his torso, and he had clearly been stabbed at one point.

“Spock, lay him down on the bed. I want to see what these readings will tell us about his state.”

The man gets laid down on the bed. Bines look up at the screen, and the readings are inconclusive.

“That’s not something I’ve seen before,” Bones mutters to himself. He goes over to reset it to see if that will help it function correctly. The readings come back up on the screen, but are still fluctuating and not landing on anything specific. Bones goes over and grabs one of his scanners. As he is moving it over the man’s body, it does the same thing as before. Nothing is providing a concrete reading or understanding of what all could be wrong.

Bones looks to Spock. “Do you have any idea on how to fix my equipment?”

Spock shakes his head. “No, Doctor. I have never seen it act this way before.”

Bones sighs and runs his hands through his hair. “I guess I’ll have to use the old techniques.” He goes over and grabs a stethoscope and puts it on the man’s chest. He hears a strong heartbeat, and the man seems to be breathing surprisingly well for all the trauma his body was exposed too.

After Bones determines that the man seems to be strong enough to handle stitches and other invasive medical procedures, he goes over to the cabinet and grabs the supplies that he needs. He washes his hands, and calls Spock over to help him scrub in. Bones composes himself, then turns around to get started. What he sees surprises him. The man is glowing… and his wounds seem to be… healing…? There is no way that is possible!

Bones hurry’s over to inspect the situation. Suddenly, the man lurches into a sitting position, and his head smashes into Bones’. Bones lurches backward, “jiminy cricket.”

“Fascinating,” Spock says, and he moves closer to the bed.

The man grabs the top of his head and glares at Bones. “What am I doing here?” He asks in a deep, gravely voice. “Why am I in this bed?”

Bones looks over at him and narrows his eyes, “Why don’t you tell me?”

Installment 4 in my CasxBones fanfic!

Cas’ POV

“Well… Castiel…?”

Cas stares at the Captain, not 100% sure how to answer the question. He does not remember much about what happened before he woke up on the ship, all he knows is that it was something that was painful (both physically and emotionally).

“Captain Kirk, I do not fully know why I appeared on your ship, but I’m assuming that I was sent here for a reason.”

The Captain, the Doctor, and the man with the pointy ears all glance at each other.

“Okay Castiel, hopefully we can all figure it out soon. But in the mean time, I believe that you should rest since your body did go through something traumatic, or at least I’m assuming that you did,” the doctor says, “Captain, do we have a spare room that he can rest in?”

“I don’t believe that we currently have any spare rooms as of now Bones. I also believe that, since you are the doctor, that he can just stay in your room with you. That way you can keep an eye on him in case anything else happens.”

“I don’t need a room,” Cas says as soon as Kirk stops talking, “I do not sleep, therefore a room with a bed is unnecessary.”

“Don’t care Castiel, I still insist that you at least share the room with Bones to ensure that nothing happens,” Captian Kirk adds.

Cas looks over at the Captain and hears the Doctor (Bones? That feels a little on the nose for a Doctor, but if that’s his name, that’s his name) sigh.

“Jim, I really don’t think it’s -“

“Leonard, this is what I’m asking you to do and as your captain, you will allow it.”

“Yes sir.”

Bones then grabs Cas’ hand and starts to drag him out of the room. He continues to pull Cas until they get to the elevator and then pushes him in before hitting the number for the right floor.

“Can you please stop manhandling me? I am perfectly capable of walking be myself.”

“I believe that, however, I am simply just trying to get us there as quickly as possible so that I may leave you there to go and discuss this… situation… with Jim,” Bones says with a sigh. “There really is no reason for you to stay with me. No reason at all.”

The elevator dings, and Bones grabs Cas again, quickly pulling him along. They reach the door to Bones’ room and they open. Cas gets pushed inside before they close again. The last thing he sees is Bones’ back as he walks away.

Bones POV

I cannot believe that Jim is forcing me to share my room with this man, or angel, I guess. This is absolutely not professional and he should not be allowing it.

Bones continues to silently fume while he waits to arrive in the bridge. As soon as the elevator doors open, he stomps into the space and everyone looks to stare at him.

“Jim!” Bones yells, “what could have possibly compelled you to make me share my room with this man! We don’t know anything about him!”

Spock backs away from where he was standing next to Jim as Bones advances across the room.

“This is just so unprofessional! I am absolutely livid!” Bones yells in Kirk’s face and pointing a finger in his face. “You had no right!”

Jim calmly pushes Bones’ finger away from his face before speaking.

“Bones,” Kirk starts, “the reason that I am having him stay in your room is partly because he was severely injured when he showed up and because, like you said, we don’t know much about him. Seeing as you are a doctor I believe that you may have a different perspective and will be able to help him the most.”

By the time he was done talking, Jim had stood up and had slowly put a hand on Bones’ shoulder.

“Now, it has been a long and trying 24 hours, why don’t you head back to your room and try to get some sleep?”

“How am I supposed to sleep with a strange man in my room, who, apparently does not sleep!”

“I think you can figure that out,” Jim says as he leads Bones back to the elevator. “You need sleep. Now go.”

Bones steps into the elevator and pushes the button for the floor. Feeling like he is on autopilot, he makes it back to his room and stands outside the door. Taking a deep breath, he enters his room. Cas sits up abruptly, the TV blaring a bit. Neither he nor Bones say nothing and Bones heads into his bathroom. He quickly washes up and gets ready for bed. Bones still hears the TV through the door and sighs.

“As long as he doesn’t watch me sleep,” Bones mutters. He then heads back into his room and over to his bed. Laying down he turns onto his side so his back is to Cas. He falls into a fitful sleep.

I have been informed by @casandbones4never that my last post contained concerning inaccuracies. I am so very sorry for this slip in Leviathan lore. Borax DOES NOT kill Leviathans like I had Castiel say in the post, it only burns them. I am deeply sorry for the clumsiness of my language. I feel sick to my stomach and would like to formally apologize for this inaccuracy. I will keep the original post but I plan to make a post addressing the situation with the characters.

PLEASE DO NOT RELY ON BORAX TO DEAL WITH LEVIATHAN!

There are many more steps needed to have relative safety:

Use the Borax to temporarily incapacitate the Leviathan

Behead the Leviathan

Bury the head and body far apart, preferably in cement casing

For a permanent solution you will need:

Bone of a Righteous Mortal

Blood of a Fallen Angel

Blood of the Father of Fallen Beasts

Blood of the Ruler of Fallen Humanity

After you coat the bone in the three bloods you are good to go. PLEASE be careful with this method! It has the consequence of being sent to Purgatory.

The recommended course of action is to contact trained professionals.

Xaden hating on Dain during his POV of chapter sixteen will never not be my favorite.

“…Aetos asks Sorrengail, panicking like the infantry soldier he should have been”

“Aetos takes his hands off Sorrengail’s shoulders, and I decide to let him keep them. For now.”

“Gods, please give me a reason to beat the pompous, Codex-loving shit out of him. Just once.”

“Odd time to grow a spine, but good for him.”

“I scoff. Fucking rule-loving coward. He doesn’t deserve to breathe the same air as Violence. She’s half his size and a thousand times braver. Talk about a disproportionate relationship.”

“Aetos scurries away like the little rat he is.”

Xaden also calls Violet a “pint-size morsel of straight-up arsenic” during this chapter and I love that

Dain is lucky to still have his hands. In Iron Flame Violet threatens to cut them off him. Between her and Xaden, it's impressive Dain still has his hands intact.

Installment 3 in my Cas and Bones fanfic.

Bones POV - the day after the strange man appears on the Enterprise

The man in the trench coat, (Agent Beyoncé…?) seems to be part of the ancient human organization: The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Though that doesn’t make sense since the FBI hasn’t existed in hundreds of years. Bones continues to look at the FBI badge that he found inside the trench coat.

“Spock, what do you make of this? This ancient organization hasn’t existed in hundreds of years. Do you think there is a chance that he is just delusional and thinks we are still in a different year? It does say that his birthday is in the 1900s.”

“Well,” Spock starts, “maybe he likes to role play. If what you say is true about this ancient organization, that may be the only logical conclusion.”

“I guess that we should see if we can figure out how to wake this ‘Agent Beyoncé’ from the coma he appears to be in.”

Spock and Bones start to leave the mess hall. On their way out they run into Kirk. Bones puts the badge into his pocket before Kirk can see it.

“How is our patient doing, Bones? Providing him with the best treatment?” Kirk asks.

“Captian, I am currently working on fully diagnosing the exact problem and source of his wounds, but I do need to question the patient. However, that poses a problem as he has not awoken since last night,” Bones replies, “Spock and I are actually on our way down there right now to see if we can wake him up.”

Kirk laughs, “well, that might be a problem seeing as when I walked past medbay I heard something knocking into things.”

“Why didn’t you alert me, Captain?!” Bones asks, his voice rising in volume as he fully absorbs what Kirk was saying.

“I thought you knew,” Kirk replies as he grabs his food and heads to a table to sit down.

“Thank you for the information, Captain, but I will be taking my leave now. I will debrief you on the situation later.”

Cas’ POV - over in medbay

Cas wakes up with a start. Immediately, his angels blade is in his hand. He gets himself off the bed, but stumbles. The room is swimming a bit in his mind. He places his hands on the bed he was just in to stabilize himself. He slowly starts to take in his surroundings.

Cas looks up at the screen above the bed and sees it flashing, showing an image of a body and what looks to be medical data. He ponders it for a second before trying to find the door.

“Where could that door be?” Cas mutters to himself. At the moment, a door bursts open and the men from the day before rush into the room. Cas changes into his defensive stance and brings his angel blade up.

“Drop the weapon and get back in the bed,” the shorter one says. While he’s talking, the one with pointy ears is slowly moving towards Cas. As soon as he is in range, Cas lunges and brings his blade down. The man quickly moves out of the way and reaches up. His hand finds the place where Cas’ neck meets his shoulder. He pinches and Cas crumples.

Two Hours Later

Cas wakes up again with a start. He goes to sit up, but his arms and legs have been chained to keep him in place this time.

“Let me go,” Cas growls.

“I don’t think I will this time, Agent Beyoncé.” The shorter man says, “I’ve got my captain coming down seeing as you attacked our first officer here,” and he points at the man with the pointy ears.

Cas hears the whoosh of the door opening and turns his head to see who it is. A man with a gold shirt walks into the room, it seems to be the same person that Cas saw before he passed out.

“Hello, I am Captian James Kirk of the Starship Enterprise and this is my ship. What is your name?”

“I am the angel Castiel, the angel of Thursdays. I believe that you should let me out of these chains since I am an angel of the lord.”

“Well, the angel Castiel, care to tell me why you are on my ship?”

Part two of my Cas and Bones fanfic!

Cas POV

A few hours before the man appears in the enterprise:

The empty had taken Cas, the look on Deans face seared into his mind. Cas doesn’t regret telling him though. The feelings had been there, underlying his interactions with him for years. While he wishes Dean would have said something, anything, he knows his happiness (and the reason the empty took him) came from finally admitting how he felt.

Cas lays there in the empty, memories of Dean flashing through his mind. The first time they met in person, hanging out in the bunker, going on hunts together, being with Jack, Sam, Kevin, and so many others. They keep running through them, starting with the ones that are happy, slowly starting to dissolve into only the moments where they fought. The look of betrayal on Deans face when Cas left the bunker or when he chose to allow Lucifer’s son to live. Soon, the only moments floating around his head are the times when Dean was mad at him, yelled at him, chose to leave him, and all the times that they argued.

Cas jerks awake, unsure of how much time has passed. He starts to wader around, yell into the void, knowing that the empty might wake up and if they do, he might be able to convince them to send him back. Back to Dean, Sam, and Jack.

“Hello!? Hello!?” He yells into the void. Wandering around for a very long time. After what could be decades, (who knows how time passes down in the empty) the empty materializes in front of him, looking like Dean.

“How dare you interrupt my beauty sleep!?” The empty’s voice says coming out of Deans face. “I thought that this time, you would stay ASLEEP!”

Cas just stares at the empty. His feelings for Dean rising to the surface. He tamps them down, he doesn’t want to, he cannot, seem weak in front of the empty.

“Well? You had better have a good reason Castiel. You know that I am not a patient being.”

“Well… um… I was hoping that you could potentially send me… back.”

“Not this again,” the empty says while rolling Deans eyes, “you know the deal we made.”

“Yes, yes. I do know the deal we made. You would come a take me once I was happy, which you did, “ Cas says, speaking quickly.

“Yes…” the empty’ says, already sounding bored and agitated at the conversation.

“Well, I have no reason to stay asleep while I’m here,” Cas says, “and I know how much you like to sleep. If you keep me here and I stay awake, how will you get any sleep?”

Cas takes a few steps closer to the mirage of Dean, hesitant to get to close, but wanting to be near even though he knows it’s not his Dean. He slowly reaches a hand out, lightly brushing his fingers along Deans jaw. “I know how much you want to be asleep.”

The empty backs away from Cas, and switches its form to look like Sam. The empty shakes its head, looking very conflicted. Their eyes moving a bit, clearly trying to evaluate and figure out what the best option is. They finally got Cas back after he had been taken from them, but they do really want to be asleep.

“I can cause you a lot of pain, annoyance, and you won’t get to sleep,” Cas says, “no sleep, ever again.”

The empty continues to think, before finally rushing up towards Cas again. Moving so quickly that Cas falls over.

“What makes you so sure that you, you of all people” they say, slowly moving closer and closer to Cas’ face, “are special enough to escape the empty, not once, but twice. You, Castiel, are nothing. You aren’t special.” Their voice had slowly been growing in volume and by the end they were almost screaming. “I don’t care about you, I don’t care about your feelings, I don’t care about anything, anything besides sleep!”

Cas has been slowly backing away, certain that he will eventually run into a wall or something. He doesn’t and the empty continues to advance.

“You should feel lucky that you got the time you did. You should feel lucky that I haven’t found a way to give you constant nightmares and made your dreams a living hell. But most of all, you should feel lucky that I find you to be the most irritating, grating being that I have ever had the displeasure of being around.” By this point in the empty’s speech, they have caught up with Cas, and grabbed him by the collar. Holding him up in the air so that he’s face to face with Sam. Slowly the empty lifts up a hand, and touches it to Cas’ temple. The last thing Cas hears are the words, “have fun” before he is flung out of the empty and into the void.

While speeding through the void, things seem to reach through and scratch at him, hit him, stab him, and at one point he loses consciousness. The only thought getting him through this is… is… is…

He’s not sure anymore. The reason he wanted to leave the empty so bad, why he was happy, why everything in his life had changed.

Suddenly he lands, looks around, but nothing is familiar. He makes eye contact with a man sitting in the center of the room wearing a gold shirt. Cas then promptly passes out.

Sgaeyl: OK but Andarna is in danger and this tiny girl is fending her off alone while injured.

Tairn: ....I'm on my way.
